@hyouhaku BambleWilde ❤️
bamblewilde- thats soo cute ⸜(。 ˃ ᵕ ˂ )⸝♡
love looks like mending your colleague's cloak and preferring her company over others, while driving her insane with your whining.
love also looks like relying on your colleague to weed out traitorous moles but also sprinting to their side to save them dramatically (from a situation that could have gotten them a promotion).
gahhh i love my ships
Oh my god.
I was thinking about the name Wendell bambleby, and I don't know if she did this on purpose but...
I looked it up, and Wendell means traveler or wanderer. Bambleby was a little harder to put together, but bembel in Norwegian means a mountain or round hill, and the ending -by means a village or farm (from viking linguistic influences, so also scandinavian).
So Wendell Bambleby means wanderer from the settlement under the hill. Or, exile from faerie. Geez.

what I really liked about wendell's characterization especially in the first book is that he lulls you into a false sense of security, he seems harmless, likeable he hates the cold, loves cozy places and hot coco and he seems very sensible but then he lashes out in gleeful violence, he rewinds time so he can kill over and over. the loss of a life is as consequential as spilled milk and why shouldn't it be he is an ageless all powerful creature after all.
Sometimes a love declaration doesn't involve the words 'I love you' at all. Sometimes it's Wendell Bambleby saying "I prefer your company Em" "Over the company of a tavern filled with a rapt and grateful audience? I'm sure you do" "Over anyone else's company"
Emily Wilde:
Doesn’t hate her colleague, but does find his attitude, work ethic, and face annoying. His hair is very pretty though, and she’d like to run her fingers through it, but she doesn’t know where that idea came from, which is also annoying.
Has no problem with wandering off to isolated locations without telling anyone, will not hesitate to trick the Fae, and calmly considers chopping off her own hand to save her life.
Also has no idea what to do when a person starts crying. This includes herself.
“Visiting naturalist manages to offend entire village with a single failed social encounter. One dead, thirty-seven injured.”
Decides she should probably have sex first to see if she even likes it before committing to this whole “marriage” thing.
Admits to herself that her primary motivation for rescuing the villagers kidnapped by the Fae is research, and immediately remembers she should feel bad about this.
Prof. E. Wilde, page 1: This journal is for documentation and research purposes only, and will not be filled with personal drivel.
Prof. E. Wilde, 200 pages later: Reader, I had to kiss him. For… scientific observation.
So used to self-reliance that she can’t imagine people coming to her rescue because they care about her.
Gives off the vibe of Tragic Victorian Orphan. Her parents are still alive.
Dare to reach out your hand into the darkness, to pull another hand into the light.
quest spoilies?
that music choice was certainly something. i guess when you pour all your creativity into making an op and reimagining the cast in classic paintings, it must mean you have the freedom to skimp out on the emotional payoff of the one character that breaks the mould.
but ig the environment design for the estate entrance was beautifully made, so all's well?
execution! its the execution that needed better direction.
