PHM Grace origin story thought!
Grace as an adult doesn’t give me “neglected by his parents as a kid” vibes like I’ve been seeing in a lot of headcanons. He gives me “raised by his grandparents” vibes.
Which to me makes more sense than his parents being absentee and then passing away when he’s an adult. I feel like they died when he was a child and his grandparents raised him with a great love of academia before passing of old age when he was older.
Happy to discuss!

My girlfriend and I are laying quietly in the pitch black bedroom. In a soft whisper with no inflection, I said, “Someone is here.”
My girlfriend’s whole body stiffens and they go, “What the FUCK!”
They didn’t feel the little kitty feet I felt or have the context so instead of understanding a cat was joining us in bed they thought I was signaling the start of a horror movie.
lowkey kinda hate how all the pride flags are just stripes, can we get some shapes up in here pls

What's your favorite thing you've ever knitted? (I read your bio)
I knitted a scarf once, still my favorite thing, I don't knit much anymore. 🙃
And
Do you paint your nails, if so, what do they look like usually?
I paint my nails sometimes, but lately I've been too busy and stressed to not pick it all off on the first day.
I don’t have any pictures of it, but several years ago I knitted a blanket for one of my siblings out of a bunch of leftover super fuzzy yarn. Each square was a blue, purple, or gray gradient, and the end result looked like the ocean on a stormy day.
Given the amount of work I do with my hands, nail polish tends to not last long, so I don’t paint my nails with any regularity. Maybe once a year. I have a nice dark red that I like to use on occasion.
Just realized my new phone doesn’t have a headphone jack, and I’ve never felt such devastation.
You know, an interesting tumblr transformation that's happened gradually, and which I've seen no one talk about: ask-culture has essentially dropped off to nothing.
By which I mean, asks used to be WAY more of the tumblr economy. They used to be more common to send, and receive, and see. They were integral to the collaborative, forum-like behavior of old tumblr communities, not even to speak on the HUGE number of ask-blogs that used to exist to only be interacted with in ask-form.
I'm not saying this in a vying-for-attention way but instead in an observational way: I used to get way way more asks in like 2015, even with a fraction of my follower count. I wonder if it's due to the homogenization of social media sites? There's a lot more of this divide between "content creator" and "consumer" instead of just a bunch of peer blogs who would talk to each other. "Asks" aren't really a thing on twitter, are they? And as I understand it, the closest thing to an "ask" on instagram or tiktok would be a creator screenshotting some comment and responding to it in a new reel or video or whatever those content mediums are. Are asks just too tumblr-specific? Is that aspect of the site culture dying out as more and more people converge to using all their social media sites in the same way?
it's probably from assholes making asks a minefield of trolling/harassment for years with no real blocking ability, which turned people off from allowing asks on their blogs so as a whole the site moved away from it
but now that we do have better blocking, we should try to revive it.

the silmarillion is wild because you read it and you're like huh okay, and then you read lotr and it turns out everyone's just going around doing their own thing while the surviving elves are living through the final chapters of a post-apocalyptic horror story
rivendell's a pretty chill place, right? everyone gets along splendidly. dream retirement home et cetera. solid chance the guy you're having afternoon tea with has either survived or personally committed war crimes. also the reason it's so chill is elrond has this magic ring that makes it so the whole place exists slightly outside normal time
galadriel's been around since the beginning, like, for pretty much all of middle-earth's history you understand, she has Seen it all and despite what you may have been led to believe is at all times this close to snapping. also the reason lothlorien is so chill is she has this magic ring that makes it so the whole place exists slightly outside normal time
i can't emphasize enough how much of a post-apocalyptic horror story thranduil lives in. homeland destroyed and half his people massacred. has fucken sauron in his backyard and the spawn of the primordial beast that eats light puttering about on his lawn. a dragon lives next door. does NOT have a magic ring and is therefore obliged to rule over his murderforest in normal time
just so we're all on the same page here, legolas' day job before joining the fellowship was to hunt the spawn of the primordial beast that eats light and it's not like, a big deal or anything. he just has to do it. he's used to it.
'elves are leaving middle-earth and it's so sad :(' they have ptsd samwise.

Okay, here's a vague book Rocky plush pattern and tutorial!
Please keep in mind that I know very very little about sewing, and the result I got came from me winging most of it and making a lot of mistakes. I don't at all suggest you follow this directly or use the exact same measurements as I did (which as you will notice, do not make any sense), so probably just use this to get a gist of what to do if you want it.
Also note that the carapace patterns were originally for a movie Rocky plush and they just came out wrong for me, so you may want to alter the carapace side panels when you make your own.
These are the wangjangled patterns I made, the excess paper outside the red shapes are the seam allowance which I gave myself a lot of to prepare for mistakes, but you can have as much or as little as you want. The red lines mark where I intended to sew, not where I cut the fabric (or really ended up sewing).
You can see how the measurements really don't make sense (the carapace top/bottom sides being different lengths, and different lengths than the top of the side panels and the suchlike), so for your own sanity, please make yours better than I did. Also, the arms are disproportionate to the carapace, if you're aiming to make it more book accurate maybe make them around 30cm long instead of 40.
Incoherent and vague tutorial with some simplified drawings under the cut:
