after a mission gone much worse than usual , taro returns to the village cradling a badly broken arm. it’s bad enough that just casting it won’t do ; they’d have to manipulate the bones back into place too. && so the medics pump him up with painkillers strong enough to make the ceiling spin while they fixed him up. (they know the deal, && the procedure would be painful enough that the brat would try sue. it would never actually work, of course, but who would want to risk the amount of money his parents pay them for private health care ??)

by the time mai showed up, his arm was already put into a cast && yet the drugs most definitely had not worn off yet ; he yapped on && on to her for so long —- even if the conversation only consisted of the elder sheepishly agreeing with his nonsensical slurs. should taro ever catch wind of what had happened after the painkillers no longer fuzzed his brain, he would be mortified.
