Currently reading Peerless and find it very enjoyable so far. Currently i’m on chapter 18. Here are my thoughts:
The dynamics between Feng Xiao and Cui Buqu already kind of remind me of Yan Wushi and Shen Qiao. Feng Xiao and Yan Wushi have somewhat similar personalities including in how Feng Xiao interacts with Cui Buqu. However, Feng Xiao hasn’t gotten me to like him yet. Cui Buqu on the other hand, I love. He doesn’t remind me of Shen Qiao that much with the exception of Shen Qiao’s internal monologue. I adore just how petty Cui Buqu is and find him hilarious. It’s also interesting to have a chronically ill character but ai can’t help but wondering if that will still be the case by the end if the story or if they’ll fix it like Shen Qiao’s blindness. Overall, I’m enjoying Peerless so far.
Now that i’ve finished Thousand Autumns i’ve now started to read Peerless. I’ve read the first 3 chapters and find it interesting how we’ve yet to see the perspective of either of our main characters. More specifically we’re introduced to the protagonists via outside perspectives.
Chapter 2 we learn a but about Feng Xiao primarily from the view of his subordinate. Similarly, in chapter 3 we are introduced to Cui Buqu mostly through exposition and one of the frequent visitors to the monastery.
Just an interesting observation but not surprising since Meng Xi Shi’s style has many different POV’s if Thousand Autumns is anything to go by. Overall, i’m exited to see their perspectives, inner workings and more of their personalities.
I’ve now finished the main story of thousand autumns. I have many thoughts about it as a whole but currently thinking about my love hate relationship with Yan Wushi and how this man literally manipulated Shen Qiao into not only realizing his feelings but confessing them too.
I've been drinking so I'll just say one thing. Bai Rong is one of the best female danmei side characters. She is so well written, has her own backstory, ambitions, accomplishments, and FUTURE. It is so important to me that Bai Rong's story does not end because Shen Qiao is not romantically interested in her.

Just finished Vol 4 of Thousand Autumns and I decided to read the first few sentences of vol 5. How egotistical do you have to be for your first thought to be about how beautiful Shen Qiao is and the immediate second praising your own taste in men. I know that Yan Wushi is an egoist but damn 😂
Still reading Thousand Autumns and started thinking about Yan Wushi’s personalities and realized they can be categorized based on Freud’s model of psyche the Id, Ego and Superego.
Id = Xie Ling
- the Id is the inherited, biological foundation of personality, driven by pleasure and instinctual needs. It's unconscious and infantile
Ego = A-Yan
- the Ego is the self, governed by reality and logic, mediating between the id and superego
Superego = Yan Wushi
- the Superego is the conscience driven by morality and societal expectations (although his would not be considered well developed)
It’s interesting to think if his personalities in this way as Xie Ling is very direct about his wants, needs and feelings towards Shen Qiao. A Yan is somewhat of a combination between Xie Ling and Yan Wushi, he maintains much of the original personality while still being openly and directly affectionate with Shen Qiao. Finally, you have Yan Wushi who often masks his affection with teasing or outright denies it. Idk just an interesting way to think about it.
I haven’t watched 9-1-1 in a while but for some reason it just hit me that whats happening is the same as what happened to Riverdale. As the show continues things only get more convoluted and nonsensical. Am I crazy or do you see it too?
Looking at MDZS memes can be confusing sometimes because they say NHS and I have to remember that in this context it means Nie Huaisang not the national health service.
Me reading chapter 79 of Thousand Autumns
I’m currently read Thousand autumns. Some people read with a dictionary as a tool. As a psych student i’ve been using the DSM 5 and trying to figure out if Yan Wushi has NPD (Narcissistic personality disorder) or ASPD (Antisocial personality disorder).

Interesting how Yan Wushi’s head injury functionally gave him D.ID. I find the various personalities very interesting with A-Yan being the most like Yan Wushi except he’s nice and genuine in his affections towards Shen Qiao. The fact that both A-Yan and Xie Ling are affectionate towards Shen Qiao makes it obvious that Yan Wushi does like him on some level even if the original personality won’t admit or genuinely indulge those desires. Because the other personalities are still part of Yan Wushi.
I’m currently reading Thousand Autumns after finishing all of the MXTX books. I have many thoughts but i’m currently on volume 2 and all I can think is, if anything happens to Shiwu I will kill everyone in this room and then myself.
I started Svsss a while back after finishing MDZS and i’m currently on vol 2. So much happens in this series that its actually insane. Currently on chapter 8 and despite the name of the chapter I still would never have guessed what would happen, wtf!?
