Personal Development Plan

My new employer has asked that I provide a learning plan for the next two years that I believe I will either study in University, teach myself or learn in work. I provide an overview of my first two years in University which can be seen below:

Over the next year I believe that I will slowly teach myself frameworks such as:

Bootstrap

React.js

Tailwind

I believe that React will be the most important for me to learn as I have a pretty good grasp of CSS and Boostrap (which is what we use in my employment).

It might be more beneficial for me to focus on Agile development techniques as during my day I have at least 3 meetings with various teams in our development team. Some are responsible for process mapping, others for process developing and others for future projects.

I recently collaborated with a friend and fellow musicians Anthony Fitzgerald and Sophie Davies to create a royalty free version of this famous nursery rhyme for a school in South Wales.

I was asked by Bevlar Gaming to create an intro piece for his gaming channel on YouTube. He asked for something Tron-esque and sparkly high ends to fit the diamonds.

The Continuum @ Clothworker’s Hall, University of Leeds

I took part in a concert at the University of Leeds hosted by the students of the MA Electronic & Computer Music course. It was a great night, offering an insight into various experimental techniques that we’ve developed over the past year. You can find an EP of live recordings from the night below:

I performed a song called 'Locale' as HYUNTER in which I diffuse two field recordings using Grain Delay, Feedback Loops and Beat Repeaters. I really enjoyed the night, thanks to Ishmael Beckford Tongs for hosting the event.

Recycled Artifacts: Re-imagining the sonic habitat

I wanted to create a piece of work that examines the sonic artifacts that are found in the ‘home’. A place that most find respite, relaxation and security- but the sonic landscape does not necessarily reflect that. Coupled with moving images of the home itself, I hope this piece is a first step in producing a better catalog of experimental sonic representation.

I’ve called it Recycled Artifacts as I imagine that the sonic qualities of the home exist to provide an initial hearing environment of which we listen with initial ears. This is how we spend the majority of our time: hearing initial sonic environments. It’s not until we listen to these sonic artifacts that we can recycle them, give them new meaning and develop a listening environment.

Here we hear how the sonic landscape of my home- a quiet, warm place is actually an eerie, industrial sonic scene. It’s purpose- to increase awareness of noise pollution and unknown sound.

Conversations With A Friend EP

After working with Sophie Mccabe on her ‘locales’ exhibit which examined the relationship between familiar places and the abstract representation of them- I was inspired to compose a piece to further this idea through sound. During my past two weeks I have used field recordings and sound scapes of conversations of friends and the journeys from work back to our homes. 

Each track not only informs the next but is also composed of it- focusing on time and space, its effect on relationships represented through sound.
