I know it’s still a while out, but I’m intrigued to see how a Coronavirus vaccine plays out. Will weeks of solitude and toilet paper hoarding trump anti-vaxxer nonsense? We shall see.

Both of my parents must be independently and spontaneously watching the same news report over in New York because they text me at the same time to update me about how California is handling the pandemic. Thanks. I haven’t seen another human in days.
To whom it may concern:

What goes with the Coronavirus?
Lyme Disease
Some never develop beyond this stage.
And so are sand dollars (and all other echinoderms). Making sand dollars more closely related to humans than sand dollars are to such things as clams, crabs, or sea anemones.

GOOD NEWS:
Hawaii’s State Bird Soars Back From Brink of Extinction
The population of the majestic Hawaiian Goose numbered 25,000 on the islands in 1778 when Captain Cook arrived, but soon those numbers were decimated by human-introduced animals like the mongoose until there just 30 left in 1952.
After 60 years of an intensive captive breeding program, rigorous habitat restoration, and active management strategies, the population has increased 90-fold—and this week, US Interior Secretary Bernhardt announced that the nēnē had recovered enough to be considered no longer endangered.
“Today’s announcement highlights the progress (that) the Endangered Species Act intends to deliver,” said Bernhardt. “Through collaboration and hard work the nēnē is out of intensive care and on a pathway to recovery…”

A year in review
I had a tough first semester in grad school. It was probably some of the most taxing months of my life. I thought about quitting often. My mental health dipped pretty low. Naturally, it was easy for me to write this year off as shitty while I scoffed at all the optimists on social media summing up their year as we close in on a new decade. But really, my year didn’t suck. School was hard. It was really really hard. But all the new grad student and new TA hurdles that I wasn’t expecting are behind me. There will be more, but they wont be nearly as blindsiding. I taught for a whole semester! And I am not good at it! But I’m getting better. And I finished it with a 3.9 gpa. And I worked full time. Like what the actual fuck.
I went to the arctic! I saw four (4) whole polar bears! I got to see snow geese on their breeding grounds! I turned 30! I started grad school! I finally got to witness one of North America’s greatest bird migration. And I saw New England for the first time despite living so close to it for most of my life. I loved another person who loved me back, for the first time in a long time. And that went away. And it still really hurts. But it’s okay because I’ve kind of just felt like an emotionless void up until this point. So I’m okay with how this wrapped up.

HOly fuckingfuck. My mentor (??) (Whats a word like mentor but less than a mentor?) is leaving for a new job and I’m having a gd panic attack about it.
Also I know i’m going to be given many/most of his task and will see no change of position or increase in pay to compensate for this void. Though this is not my imminent worry. My main concern being WHo the fucK am I’m going to CALL when R breaks and IDK HOW TO FUCKING FIX IT.
I’m giving a talk tonight in Mattapoisett, Massachusetts. All are welcome!
