i have to say, my favorite thing about the show is literally the love the actors have for their characters and the story, how much they uplift each other at every turn.
jacob loving louis so fiercely, unafraid of butting heads with the writers when they force-bend the character in ways he doesn't think are right, esp. when he's championing claudia - e.g. disagreeing with the choice to have him read out loud claudia's diary to bruce because it's not louis' place, framing it as a violation instead of the catharsis the writers envisioned, criticizing the way it's used to forward the story - however equally traumatic - of a white character.
jacob being unafraid of reading armand to filth because, even if he's a fan favorite, he was still the one that brought about the end of claudia, and he always champions claudia.
delainey talking about how special and important her bond with jacob is, how kind and generous he's been to her. how happy she is to be allowed back in even if it's an uncomfortable situation that will probably lead to disaster - but they'll still take it because it means working together a little more.
sam reid giving lestat his all, including thoughtful ruminations about trauma and how lestat is just desperately lost, even when fans & writers only want to focus on the fact that lestat's 'hot' and 'crazy'; but also sam reid never letting lestat off the hook for the terrible things he has done, to louis, to claudia, both Black characters that constantly deserve better.
rolin insisting on villanizing armand at all costs, but assad still writing a confession letter to daniel that was purely loving and devoid of machinations (release it amc btw). assad always taking armand's point of view because he understands the complexity and tragedy of his back story, probably the worst out of all the other characters.
eric unafraid to talk about molloy in the first person, bringing his biting humor but also unveiling witty takes on his character, always making it clear he's down for anything and how much fun he's having with everybody else. eric always talking about how great jacob is and how interacting with him is waht made him want to do the show. how no matter how big lestat's version gets, louis is still at the center of the whole story.
assad, eric, and luke hanging out together to make the fans go fucking insane but also because they genuinely care about the characters and have chosen to explore this completely novel dynamic — a dynamic previously unseen on tv, with a brown man and an old man framed as objects of desire, what the fuck is a twilight anyway — as friends and humans instead of just coworkers.
through the disappointment of seeing this show finally getting its dues only now that the main character is white, i will always come back as long as these people are a part of it.
