Imo "papapa to save world" being used for svsss has done great damage to the fandom (at least in the general mxtx fandom, not to actual svsss fans who know their stuff) because sqq didn't do the deed to save the world he did it only for luo binghe 😭😭 this is where the "sqq doesnt actually love lbh" shit comes from...

When I first read the novel back in 2020 i was 14 and my english wasnt very good so I didnt understand the book well. In the end i was influenced by the "papapa to save the world" meme and believed that was why sqq did it as well, I even found the sex scene very uncomfortable (ok i was 14, i wasnt legally supposed to read it but i was already a BL veteran by then lol)

Now rereading the book, almost every single page I was reminded of just how much sqq loves lbh and the papapa scene was just the most romantic scene ever. Theyre so sickly in love ughh i love them sm ok imgonnacrynow

Edit: I should've worded this better, I don't mean to say the sex scene wasn't uncomfortable for sqq but it was romantic precisely because of that, even if it's painful he was ready to embrace all of binghe's love for him and that's the perfect climax for the story imo, the sex scene actually summarized bingqiu's relationship as a whole. Even if binghe turned into a demon would you still love him? Even if binghe was at his worst, would you still love him? Even if binghe was hurting you would you still love him? Even if he caused your death would you still..? Shen Qingqiu basically said yes to all of this, just because he loves Luo Binghe, and no other reason. That's why papapa scene was the most romantic love letter ever that's written to binghe. That's how i see things ;3

Random SVSSS and PIDW head canon world building time!

So uh. We have all seen the new map in the hardcover release, right? I hope it's not controversial of me to say that it's a bit... Strange.

Cang Qiong is immense. Tian Yi Temple is literally just in the middle of it for some reason. The demon realm is just western China. The endless abyss is a hole in the ground, somehow. Let's just say, I'm not particularly fond of this take.

So. I thought I might write down my take on how the geography works, as well as a little bonus take on PIDW's realm merging!

First off, the realms. I don't consider the demon realm or the endless abyss to be physical locations that you can simply walk to from the west. In my mind, there are four realms in the SVSSS setting, all stacked on top of one another like some sort of realm cake. Each one of them leeches their energy into the others, and they all tend to blur slightly into one another at the edges, but only into the one they touch.

At the top is the Heavenly Realm. This is not really mentioned much, but is implied to exist due to peak lords ascending to godhood, and heavenly demons being cast out of heaven at some point. Heaven seems to mostly be doing their own thing, with the vast majority, if not all of the heavenly officials being ascended mortals. The Heavenly Realm leaks into the mortal realm, mostly through leaking Yang Qi into it, as the celestial realm is almost entirely Yang, in opposition to the Abyss being almost entirely Yin. This causes Righteous Cultivation to be easier to achieve and more common in the mortal realm, with most people born with the ability to cultivate a Righteous Cultivation Path.

The mortal realm is primarily populated by Humans, and spiritual beasts, though some invasive Yao from the demon realm have lasted so long there that they are practically indistinguishable from regular mortal realm fauna, and they have interbred frequently with both spiritual and mortal beasts. While the mortal realm primarily receives heavenly Yang Qi from its closeness to the Heavenly Realm. However, it is not as devoid of Demonic Yin Qi as the heavenly realm is. Demonic cultivation is possible in the mortal realm, due to this, but very dangerous. Demonic cultivation in the mortal realm usually requires siphoning Yin Qi either from opening passages to the demonic realm, or by siphoning Qi from other humans. It cannot simply be siphoned from the environment in the Mortal Realm, unlike in the demon realm where Yin Qi is ambient.

The demonic realm and the mortal realm are much more likely to meld and blur with one another than either are to blend with the heavenly realm or the abyss respectively. The Heavenly Realm can only be accessed through Ascension, while the Endless Abyss can only be accessed through abyssal rifts, which are distinct chasms in both the mortal and demonic realms. (The sole exception is Mobei-Jun's portals, which can access all four realms regardless of starting point, because he is God's favorite princess and can do whatever he wants forever). There are certain regions of both the mortal and demon realms where reality frequently grows thin, and the realms meld confusingly, sometimes growing together in a blur, other times simply opening rifts from one to another. This is known as the borderlands, though it is not a true border, just a place where the walls between worlds grow thin.

The demon realm is primarily filled with Yin Qi from the endless abyss, which has caused its residents to naturally prefer to cultivate Demonic Qi. Yang Qi is present as well, but it is much more difficult for a demon to cultivate Yang than a human to cultivate Yin, as all demons are born with cores, and humans must form them on their own. Save for very few exceptions, (COUGHLUOBINGHE), cultivating pure Yang Qi with a demonic core will kill you. Except for dual cultivation, which somehow makes you stronger if you're cultivating yin and yang together, bc Airplane says fuck you. Cultivation always changes your body drastically, but less so in Mortal Realm cultivators since they start forming a core later in life. All demons are born with cores, allowing their biology to get jiggy with it and make some weird shit.

Finally, the endless abyss. What is the endless abyss? We don't know. It's left deliberately unclear in SVSSS, as whatever we could come up with to torment Luo Binghe in our minds down there will probably always be way better than any actual description. In my head canon, the endless abyss exists as the polar opposite to heaven, balancing the scales between the mortal and demon realms. Xin Mo was not forged, but instead quite literally grew out of the abyss, and it's excess of Yin energy, becoming a vessel of Violence and Sex that slowly grew its own consciousness over time. Certain groups of demons, both sapient and not, made their way into the abyss over time and were warped by it. We know that in canon some succubus clans travel between the demon realm and the abyss, so I think that succubi are probably an abyss-born race, since they are so keyed into the "sex" half of Xin Mo's existence. Heavenly demons are probably the other half of the abyss born, the "violence" half, though due to this their species got wiped out pretty quickly since people have a lot more motivation to murderize the massively powerful violence demons than the pretty sexy ones. Especially since heavenly demons are specifically beefed with by the heavens.

For the most part, the heavens can't touch the demon realm, and the abyss can't touch the mortal realm. This is again negated by God's specialist little boy, Mobei Jun, who gets to tear a bigass hole into the abyss in the immortal alliance conference, and also by Xin Mo when it is released from abyss jail and used by the protagonist himself, which has the power to merge all four realms together.

Which he does, in PIDW.

So what does that look like? Well, you'll have to find out next time, bc it's 1am and I'm going the fuck to bed. But this will be continued later, with my head canons involving the realm merger in PIDW, what it does to the world, and how it impacts cultivation, geography, and everything.
