Sunday Flying in the Front Yard
# Mamba 10 Flex Innovations, Premier Aircraft just came out with this plane today., The Mamba 10. It should be shipping late spring. It cost $309.99. I have the QQ Extra. That plane flys like it is on rails. The Aura 8 Flight Stabilizer is unbelievable. It runs on a 3 cell 2200. I have been looking for a Bi-Plane for some time now. When I saw this, that was it; decision made! The QQ Extra is an amazing plane and one of my favorites. Quique Somenzini is a master pilot and designer. The guy knows what he is doing when it comes to design. The company also puts higher quality components than Horizon. This plane is going to be awesome!
First Flight 2017
# First Flight 2017 Went to the field today and did the “First Flight”. Since it is a Sunday, we had a good group of people there. Had a few flights. All successful. A company named FLIR was there filming us using infrared cameras. At first it was calm, but by noon, it was a little breezy. Regardless, good start to the new year!
Winter Flying
# Flying With Skis Today I was able to fly my Ultra Stick on skis for the first time this winter. My left thumb is in a brace so throttle and rudder was a slight challenge. I have flown my Ultra Stick in every condition, on wheels, on floats and skis. This was actually the plane I learned to fly on. Having limited movement of my left thumb, although challenging, not impossible to fly this plane. Next flight will be first of the year! Tradition with our club!
Maiden this really awesome plane. Flys like a much bigger plane. More like balsa than foam. The Veloxity, by Twisted Hobbys is well worth the money. I think this might be one of my favorite planes. It was also very windy today. Gusts over 20 mph. Handles the wind, no problem.
Maiden her today. Needed to manually adjust the elevator and add some weight in the nose. Once I got her trimmed out, she flew awesome. Can fly so slow without tip stalling. Very well designed plane.

Tyler's First Plane! He got it for Christmas. Waiting for a receiver and maybe some skis. Then we should be flying.

Windy Evening
Our Club flys on Tuesday night. Tonight we had winds gusting from the north at around 20mph with higher gusts in the 30mph range. The guys that showed up, all flew at least one flight. I brought my Night VisionAire with ASX3 Technology. Didn't help much. Flying into the wind I needed full throttle. The plane really was pushing it. Flying with the wind, the plane felt like it was going Mach 10. As I attempted my landing, I had to approach from the South, which is a much more difficult approach, due to the trees at the beginning of the runway. I have made southern landings hundreds of times, so that is not what I was nervous about. It was the unpredictable wind and how it was throwing my plane around. At any given moment my plane would lose or gain 30ft of altitude. It took me two attempts to get this bird on the ground safely. Needless to say, throttle control was a big must. I put my plane back in my jeep and called it a day. Watching other members attempt to fly was entertaining. Believe it or not, we had no crashes. Most pilots took their one flight, and like me called it quits. I have to say that we do have some nice talent in our club. It was not an easy day to fly.
Zach with his new plane hat and I enjoying a beautiful Sunday afternoon at the field!
Ultra Stick Mini I picked this up at an auction a few weeks ago. It has an over sized motor. Flys fast! A lot of fun!
Zeta Extreme 3D My new "Eagles Cup" plane. Fun to fly. Very twitchy, even in low rates. Once you get use to it, it is a lot of fun!
RIP Marco. One of our members passed away last week after battling leukemia for the past 7 months. Great guy with a strong love for the hobby. He will be greatly missed.
