9/100 days of productivity : 24 Nov
This is a late post because I've been pretty busy/tired and forgot to post lol
Studied MOOC about game design for 2 hours
I'm supposed to give back a report to school about this MOOC so I started taking notes on a Google doc
Spent the rest of the afternoon/evening doing laundry, cleaning dishes and vacuuming etc.
My room got super messy after my long sick week and I couldn't take it anymore. That got me pretty tired so I went straight to bed after a shower. The next day I woke up still tired from all the chores I had to do (I had to do laundry twice!! I could no longer find clean clothes to wear because they piled up while I was sick!!) so Monday was pretty much school then back to dorm and resting some more. Hence no 100dop post for 25th Nov! Sorry kids but Maya needs to rest sometimes :)
8/100 days of productivity : 23rd Nov
Hi kids! At this point I don't think anyone cares (?) but I had to stop the 100dop posts for over a week because I got badly sick. Cold is bad for you kids, especially when you don't feed your body enough vitamins to help it stay strong. Eat your greens and stay warm. I also had a terrible first date w/ a boy where he tried to force me into having sex w/ him but that's a story for another time
Woke up at 8:30
Finished my part in Agile methods projects
Ate healthy food
If anyone remembers me talking about studying for an LSF exam 2 weeks ago (for like an entire week) I took it last Monday and actually did good :D
🎧 Noir - Sunmi
If you're feeling depressed all of a sudden, try and remember when was the last time you've: ate food, drank water, took a shower/bath, slept, and took a break to get some fresh air/space.
Please take care of yourself
Do u ever think about how dogs, who have 2 colour receptors, see an apple as grayish yellow, while humans have 3 and see it as red, and mantis shrimp have 12, and see it another monstrous colour altogether?
How none of us are necessarily correct, and the apple itself, is not really any colour, it’s just a fruit minding its own goddamn business??
Fucking fascinating
We don’t know how ANYTHING TASTES, SOUNDS, LOOKS, FEELS, OR SMELLS
If you think about it just a bit too much like I did, you’ll reach the conclusion that nothing really tastes, sounds, looks, feels or smells. It’s just your brain’s interpretation of chemical composition, vibrations, the way things reflect light, more vibrations and chemical composition again
Reality can’t be proven to exist outside of our ability to perceive it through our senses but our senses can’t be trusted so basically nothing is real do what you want
Today on Tumblr Accidentally Recapitulates Wittgenstein’s Theory of Experiential Epistomology
Tfw you shitpost so hard you accidentally write a beautiful summary of the defining breakthrough of 20th century philosophy.
This also reminds me of Alan Watts. We may be in the universe, but the universe is also – quite literally – in us. Because we create it within our brains by experiencing it. And every individual’s creation of the universe is slightly different, and no one version is any more valid or “objectively correct” than another.
How to study for an exam when you really don’t know how to start
Clean your room/space, tidy your desk, make your space feel neat and focused. The space we are in means a lot, don’t confine yourself to a messy space.
Make sure you also feel ready. Freshly showered, has a good meal, did some movement-based activity. You can’t focus as easily if you feel all messy and uncomfy.
Put your work in order, what is most important? If you’re taking an exam over a specific topic i.e Biology, look for the most mentioned topics. Those will be what you study most. When I took AP Psych, I found the outline online that said what percentage of the test would be what topic, and studied those flashcards, notes, and videos.
Likewise, figure out how much you need to do every day to get done in time. If you have 20 chapters left in a book and each one is 15 pages then take 300 pages divided by how many days left (say 40) leaving 7.5 pages a day minimum.
Block out time to study. Make sure you have no distractions, phone on silent, friends know you’re unavailable. This is its own test, a test of focus!
Go to review days if you have them Your instructor should explain what’s on the exam and what is expected of you, and if you miss out on important details you’ll really notice later. It may seem like skipping gives you more time to study, but you’ll be at a disadvantage in the end.
If you feel yourself getting distracted, reading the passage with no recollection of the content, or about to slam your head into the table, take a break. Go for a short walk, get a snack, stretch, get a glass of water, have a little dance party. Breaks count as being productive, self-care is important.
Feel free to switch up your studying methods. Taking notes every day or reading chapter after chapter of a subject gets boring. Do flashcards, Draw or make a diagram. Studying the brain? Draw and label it. Use funky pens sticky notes. Varying your methods of study will not only help you grasp the material better, but it’ll keep you from getting bored.
Find a friend or join a study group. There are a lot at different universities or even just create your own with like-minded folks. You can even do one online like I do. There are many discords for this. I’m in one and it’s great to hold each other accountable and share goals.
You can also switch up your space. Everyone has a different type of place they work best. Maybe a library, cafe, park, bedroom, couch, restaurant. Don’t stay couped up.
Use apps like Tide, Forest, Flora, Quizlet and more. I seriously use these every day. Tide is my favorite, it incorporates white noise and nature sounds with a Pomodoro timer, as well as three settings for Focus, Relax, and Sleep.
Make studying aesthetically pleasing. Studyblrs are on to something here! You don’t need to have expensive things or show them off but have pens you like, fun highlighter and sticky notes. Pick out playlists of music that makes you feel focused.
Affirm and trust yourself! When you get that flashcard right? Heck yeah! You did it holy crap! Celebrate! Be proud of yourself. You worked hard, you deserve to feel good. Your best is good enough, and your best may vary day-to-day.
All of these books are queer, but they all have back blurbs that don’t say they’re queer. While this can be a pain if I’m scouting for queer SFF, it can come in handy for people in a situation where they don’t want to be reading queer books openly.
Please do note that I don’t have hard copies of the books on hand so it’s possible that an author quote or something mentions one being queer (I feel like this isn’t super likely, but I don’t want to rule it out). Some might also have author biographies mentioning that the author is queer. Also, some may be shelved as LGBT on Goodreads or categorized as queer on Amazon. So if you’re planning on asking for any of these as holiday gifts, I would suggest going to the Amazon page or where ever your relative is likely to buy it from and double check that it’s something you’d be comfortable with sharing openly.
I wish I had more pansexual books, but the ones I know of tend to mention queerness in the back description.
With the exception of The Spy with the Red Balloon, these are all books I have read or are currently reading. If you want to recommend others, feel free to do so in the replies!
You can find my other queer book recommendations here.
Links to the queer books database (or Goodreads if the book hasn’t been added yet) are available below the cut. You can find information on content warnings there.

Some Tips for Coping with Anxiety
1. Check your nutrition. Sometimes high levels of anxiety are caused by a magnesium or potassium deficiency.
2. Pay attention to your caffeine levels. Coffee, tea and chocolate all contain reasonable levels of caffeine. This can make you jittery, or increase your feelings of anxiety.
3. Try meditation and mindfulness. These help to keep you focused on the here and now, to slow your heartbeat and breathing down, as well as helping to relax your mind.
4. Work on maintain a healthy self-esteem. Many people who feel anxious, stressed or depressed are actually suffering from low self-esteem.
5. Find a sounding board; vent your feelings to them – but make sure it’s someone who understands and cares.
6. Exercise – This releases endorphins, those feel-good hormones, which help reduce our feelings of anxiety.
7. Distract yourself. Take your mind off your worries by doing other things that require concentration, and a focused state of mind.
8. Treat yourself. Give yourself a mood lifter by hanging out with friends, buying something that you love, or doing something that is fun.
how to improve memory according to my psychology textbook!!
No 100dop for 15th Nov (16th either!) because I got the flu (for real this time lol) and had to go home in the middle of a class~
study tip: don‘t think about studying as something you need to do. that implies it’s some tedious process, something you can’t really enjoy, just another task ruining your day. rather, try to enjoy the process. think of yourself as someone who loves the subject, who loves studying for the sake of learning. you’re someone for whom studying comes easily, it’s just another good part of your day. if you change your identity and sense of self from someone who struggles with studying or with a particular task, it will be much easier to get done, as we always strive to stay consistent with who we think we are. think of yourself as a productive person, and it's much easier to act like a productive person would.
calendar / time blocking 🗓
calender blocking is the practice of scheduling every event and task in the entire day. calender blocking is a wonderful too to better manage time!
one way to think of calendar blocking is scheduling your to-do list against your calendar. you may be thinking that calender blocking is not for you; it is too much scheduling, it’s not realistic, etc. however, calender blocking is not about scheduling every single small task. it is a tool to appropriately schedule out time in your day to complete the tasks you need to complete.

Just a reminder, but you do not need to “earn” being tired.
You’re allowed to be tired, even if you haven’t “done” anything and you’re allowed to be tired even if you did less than someone else.
Being tired is a normal thing your body does for a whole plethora of reasons, and is a basic bodily function. You don’t need to “earn” basic bodily functions, no matter what anyone else tells you.
hey hey hey this is really important, especially as a reminder to people with disorders that cause chronic exhaustion.
7/100 days of productivity : 14 Nov
Today was a very productive day!
Woke up at 7:30AM
Got to the library at 9:30
Finished chapters 2,3 and 4 of LSF and did about 20% of 5th chapter! I'm almost done with LSF yay :D
Studied about 7 hours in total
The cold weather really got to me so I chose to do my emails and rest in the evening
I was supposed to go to a networking event but it was a very cold day in Paris. I almost got sick I mean I could still end up sick tomorrow but I'm feeling much better after resting because I went out for lunch not wearing much :( I came back to the library at 2pm and studied 2 more hours then felt a fever start so I went back home and canceled the event.
Overall it was a very good day. The thing is I still don't have my student ID and I had to use a friend's ID :( kind of a bummer because I really loved studying in the library as I was more focused and got a lot more done than I usually do, and I won't be able to go back anytime soon.... Why is my school so slow with their systems I want my student ID!!
