ā¦she thinks she can hide but her eyes tell a different story
[4/4] alex kingston as naomi shropshire in gilmore girls: a year in the life
get to know me: favorite fictional characters ā river song/melody pond (doctor who)
Her name was River Song.
āIām not a morning person.ā
āI beg to differā¦ā
Me: Hasnāt been on this blog in 7 months Also me: *Wakes up this morning with random River Song muse???*
bastille lyrics; campus
ā... I want you to dominate me.ā

āNow, Iām not disagreeing to the idea or even going to say I havenāt thought of it.ā Okay, she didnāt mean to let that slip, but she had been thinking about doing so and possibly spent more than one night alone in her room with those thoughts.Ā āBut why are you asking? You⦠You donāt like giving yourself over, right? You donāt like the loss of control, River⦠Is everything alright?ā
āI only suggest my room, because, wellā¦ā There were other dorms around Riverās. There was no saying just how loud the other woman would become. It would put the both of them at a bigger risk than normal to do this for the first time in Riverās room. Her room wasnāt around other rooms, so there wasnāt as big of a risk towards being caught, and nothing was really stopping River from being loud.
āI donāt want us caught is all. If you want to do this in your room, we can.ā
"No. No, we'll go to yours. I want to go." She wanted all of it, everything that was going to come with this surrender. Couldn't Clara see that this was more than just some usual late night romp? River trusted her, and with more than just her body. The heart was a trickier thing to keep under control but she wasn't even going to try tonight.
Everything could lose itself, and maybe after everything was over and done, she'd come back together more whole than she'd ever been.
"Can we go now? I don't want to wait any longer."

Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ok Doctor, say something suave. COOL. Well, we could talk about the atmosphere fluctuations on Nirena Alpa- No, bad idea. Open with a Joke, everyone loves a good joke.Ā Without further ado heās leaning over to prod her on the shoulder, ā River, why did Robin Hood pull out of the archery contest?Ā ā Ā The Timelord pauses there, drumming up suspense before he can no longer keep the answer to himself. ā Ā He found it an arrowing experience. Ha!ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā ā āāYouāre not laughing. Whatās the matter, you didnāt understand it?Ā Is that it? I can explain if you want.I mean, he didnāt actually find it harrowingā¦. Ā ā
Ā Ā Ā And here it was, one more thing to write down in her diary about the ancient alien she spent far too long pining after; The Doctor wasn't funny. At least not when he was trying to be. Sometimes she found him hilarious but that was only because he wasn't even aware that he was doing it. This was just uncomfortable to bear witness too.Ā
Ā Ā With a deep sigh she was side stepping away from him and his poking, giving her eyes a roll and her head a shake, mostly pretending to be ignoring him for favor of the decrepit parchment on the table. Couldn't he see that she was trying to focus?
Ā Ā " No, I got it all right. Are all your jokes that clever sweetie? Or was that the best youāve got? Because if you ask me, you could do with some improvements."
āBehind every great man there is a woman rolling her eyes.ā ā Jim Carrey
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā AH, NOTHING LIKE STEPPING into your own lecture on Primordial Archaeology to find half your audience either dangling off their chairs with holo-phones in their hands or asleep ontop of their textbooks. āāHow flattering. Really motivates a Professor not to fail them all & watch them try harder to win her approval next year. In their defence, the moment she steps up to the podium & clears her throat, those in the front row hastily straighten in their seats, phones hastily stashed in pockets. This pattern of behaviour ripples through each row, like a pebble hitting the waterās surface. By the time the holographic screen behind her lights itself up, she has the undivided attention of every student. Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Sadly, it doesnāt last long. Ā ā Now, all texts on the subject that were written prior to the establishment of the Universal society of Historics & Antiquities in 5012 would have you believe that the peoples of Gragomire evolved some three thousand years after most Primordial Races had been eradicated from the universe. However, recent expeditions to the planets surface reveal that Gragomiran evolution predates preliminary estimates by over 2000 yeā¦.. ā The Archaeologist trails off abruptly, alarmed to spot a very familiar flash of light somewhere to the right of her. The acrid smell of burnt ozone that follows soon after only confirms her suspicions. A Vortex Manipulator. A time agent chasing up their missing colleagues right hand? ( if so, theyāre going to have to discuss it with Dorium ) As it transpires, she doesnāt have to reach for the gun she is not in fact wearing. ( confiscated by the Dean, much to her chagrin ) A splash of blonde curls & the unmistakable clink of stolen jewelry is enough to key her into the situation. Oh dear god no. Please let it not be the catsuit. Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā River turns, slowly, robotically, as if being forced to confront your worst nightmare. Itās not that she isnāt fond of that particular outfit, or of her younger self popping in now & again. ( so nice to surround oneself with attractive company ) Rather, itās the fact that the younger is standing her in the middle of her lecture. She can practically feel all of that carefully built up fear draining from her students. By three o'clock you can be assured everyone from the law faculty to the janitor will know that a doppelganger of Professor River Song turned up today wearing a catsuit. āāā What the hell are you doing here? ā She near hisses, trying in vain to ignore the whispered murmurings now circulating the lecture theater.
Ā Ā Ā "Well this is awkward isn't it?" She's trying to laugh it off, more than aware now that every was now starring and muttering. And not because she looked so good in her outfit. But what should she do about it then? Obviously sitting down and joining the class was out of the question, especially since it wasn't the right one to begin with. That and the fact that she was obviously giving some sort of-- presentation. She couldnāt present to herself could she?Ā
Ā Ā Ā With a tight lipped smile she's grabbing her bag, tossing it back over her shoulder and carefully walking down the steps to the front of the room. Maybe they'd all just get distracted by her behind and not really worry about the fact that there were two River Song's in the room. Unlikely, but it was worth a shot.
Ā Ā Ā "So then, where are we? What did I miss? Did we tell them the important bits yet?" She was smiling at the class now, trying to play it as best as she could before peeking over at the podium and the papers that were lying there. None of it looked familiar and River hadn't the slightest clue what any of it was- but that was going to stop her from pretending.
Ā Ā Ā At least not until she could make an exit. She was edging closer to the other woman, trying to whisper so only herself could hear.
Ā Ā Ā "Well I'm not exactly sure what happened but I was on my way to class when I got a hot tip telling of this treasure tucked far off at the edges of the universe and I thought- 'What the hell, might as well go get it.' But the return journey proved to be a bit more challenging. I might need to find another one of these soon. My transport. This one's on it's way out. Now- How do we do this? Good cop, bad cop? What am I even telling them about? Is this a test? Am I failing? Because I had perfect marks this quarter. Iām not failing now. What do I do?"

Ā Ā Ā Alright. So maybe she didn't really need to steal the jewels of the Farboni. The planet was far too remote and it was a wonder how anyone stumbled across it in the first place. But whoever they were, River was glad that they took the time to document the planet, it's inhabitants, and the rare, glittering stones that sat atop the alter. The culture took to moon worshiping, and basking in the glow that shone down through the jewels- Only the alter was so high up that they probably weren't expecting anyone to repel down and snatch the rocks right from the alter itself.
Ā Ā Ā After everything was said and done, River was coming away with a small fortune-- and another potential absence from class. At the very least, she could try to show up on time. One of these days she was going to get a better vortex manipulator. That worked properly. This one was off by just a few minutes. She was going to be late. And arrive entirely inappropriately dressed. Ah well. They could handle her tardiness and catsuit for one day.
Ā Ā Ā In a flash she was gone, returning back to the university and the lecture hall in a puff of smoke, her loot and the woman herself clattering to the ground as she missed her landing.
Ā Ā Ā "Who the hell moved that step? It was five inches higher two days ago!" She was complaining to no one in particular as she scrambled to collect the gems and fight off embarrassment, shoving them all back into her bag with a huff before rising and taking a seat.
Ā Ā Ā It was oddly quiet in the room for a lecture, not even that old bald headed professor was scolding her yet and- why was everyone looking at her like she was completely insane? Was the cat suit really bad? Did she land in the wrong room?
Ā Ā Ā Come to think of it, no one looked familiar and a man on her left kept clearing his throat and nodding to the front of the room-- Where another River Song was standing.
Ā Ā Oh no. It was the wrong room. And the wrong time.Ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā "I guess I'm more than just a few minutes late?"
