"should we tell them we went to school together before or after the recording?" when kyunghee was pulled aside for the mix and match she found her partner would be skyler. it had made her comfortable right away but it also felt like it defeated the purpose a bit. "but we can pretend our way through" skyler wasn't anyone knew to her, there wasn't a real need for an icebreaker. the two had went to school together though they were in different classes and separated by a year. they had become friends, friends who both ended up debuting.
the staff member that pulled her aside had ran off once they realized the mics weren't working and ran off to replace them. kyunghee played around with index cards, the questions weren't bad. "i think it'll be alright if we play it cool."
as idols they did have downtime but that didn't mean all of the behind the scenes work suddenly stopped. their comeback promotions for not shy had wrapped up but that didn't stop her from working behind the scenes. in fact she had been working on songs for a while but none had been presented to the company. their next album would be the first time her work was introduced into the world and she wanted to share this with someone very special. as her cousin, kyunghee looked up to youngjae. they had the same interest but even then, it was her listening to his music while being to shy to really share hers.
now that next step had been taken, she submitted her work and it'd be on the album. two tracks in fact even if she only complete creative control over one of them. the news had been somewhat under wraps but she wanted to youngjae to hear it from her first. so it was no surprise she took the first chance she could to call him home. that's how the duo found themselves in her bedroom. the moment they were comfortable, she blurted out the news.
"two tracks, sorry not sorry and shoot, i'll play both first and then you can tell me what you think." she didn't give youngjae a chance to comment, running off pure excitement. as each song played, her eyes darted between him and her computer. she was pretty sure foot was tapping the ground even more impatiently. there was only a second of silence when the songs ended before she found herself speaking again.
"sorry not sorry is all mines, all aspects. when it comes to shoot! i did the lyrics and part of the composition. honestly, i was going to trash the song but one of producers had been the company late and found me playing around with the song. from there...." shoot had been created.
now, it was time to ask the question she had been most worried about. "so...what do you think?"
"sorry, noona, i've got to put me first," he said playfully, letting the moment pass. the truth was, dehua would probably be glued to kyunghee's side the entire time. while he'd never had any difficulty starting up a conversation with a stranger and making friends in unfamiliar places, he was slightly intimidated by the scale of this party, something about the vibe hanging over it, tight and anticipatory. the breadth of his experience was a sip of beer from an older trainee, sneaking out past curfew for snacks and a kiss (or two) from a girl who'd been kicked out of the company for smoking. there'd also been a boy or two, if flirting counted. regardless, he couldn't fathom even half of what was happening here.
whatever. he was probably being dramatic.
he dug through the beverage selection and wisely settled on a chilsung cider, cracking it open with one hand as he ran the other through his hair, taming the flyaways that had escaped his hair gel prison. when his mother had come in town to visit earlier that week, she'd forced him to get a haircut, something clean-cut, short at the top and shaved at the sides. he was still figuring it out. it wouldn't be as bad when he braces came off in a month or two, but as it stood, he felt sufficiently sabotaged. she'd probably done it on purpose. the traitor.
"are all of these people your actual friends?" he asked, awed, peeking out of the kitchen and into the action as kyunghee restocked. "wow. i didn't realize you were so popular. or cool."
"you get comfortable in the country and then forget about little old me." kyunghee shook her head, not sounding as upset as her words might've conveyed. "they grow up so quickly, eager to leave the nest." she managed to sound a little aggrieved at that. kyunghee could still understand why he was so ready to brave the crowd. this was a scene she had become used to but it wasn't the same for dehua. that's why she sincerely hopped that he could have a good time tonight. more important that dehua, she hopped her party goer's could find a way to keep themselves in line.
as he grabbed his drink, kyunghee quickly downed a bottle of water herself. this place was rented, she didn't want too much of a mess. this wasn't the time or place for her to use drink and let loose. it'd be different in they were in her own home though that would never happen. this was all on her family's dime. "i wouldn't call all of them my actual friends." nor would she call herself popular or cool. even those who were her 'friends' couldn't be considered that.
but she wouldn't say all of that to dehua, instead she lifted up the crate filled with the replacements and motioned for dehua to follow. "most of the people are friends of friends." the easiest way she could explain it without digging deeper. she led him outside, where she knew most of her 'friends' were. when they reached them, it was a small group of four. it was clear to see who ruled the quartet. there wasn't much of a greeting when she walked over but prayed that dehua thought they were a little tipsy, slow reaction times. that made her rush to fill the silence as she started passing out their preferred drinks like it was a second nature.
and silently noted that wasn't even a thank you.
"guys, this is my good friend dehua, it's a little younger than us but since it's the end of summer." kyunghee shrugged, turning dehua. "let me formally introduce you, this dain, seungwoo, anna and hanbin." she pointed to each one. it was dain who spoke first, patting the seat next to her with one hand while making a beckoning motion towards dehua with the other. "any friend of kyunghee is a friend of ours." the simple sentence caused kyunghee to let out a breath she didn't realize she was holding. she nodded towards dehua and took a seat on the edge herself. she was about to speak again, barely getting a word out before anna cut in.
"tell us...dehua right? how did you meet kyunghee? i didn't realize she was hiding such a cute friend away from us."
with @iamkamikwonkyunghee set in rehearsal day for lynkcon festival performance, aug 2026.
the shrill beep of his phone alarm jolted janghyuk from a deep sleep, his body still heavy with the kind of exhaustion that only came from back-to-back dance rehearsals. he groaned, rubbing his face as he sat up, the dim light of the dressing room filtering through his half-lidded eyes. it took him a second to remember where he was—some vacant room he’d slipped into during a break, desperate for a power nap to recharge. the lynk con prep was no joke, and origin’s routines were brutal even for him.
his fingers fumbled for his phone to silence the alarm, but as his vision cleared, he froze. there was a figure by the door, her back to him, tugging at the handle with a quiet determination. his brain was still foggy, but the silhouette was unmistakable—shoulder-length dark hair, the way she carried herself. his breath caught. kyunghee? the name hit him like a punch to the gut, and suddenly he was wide awake, the sleep clinging to him like a bad dream.
she hadn’t turned around yet, and for a wild second, he considered pretending to still be asleep, just to delay the inevitable. but the way she was yanking at the door, the frustration in her movements. and then it clicked: the room was locked from the outside. they were stuck. his lips twitched, half from amusement, half from the absurdity of it all. of course, after all this time, the universe would throw them together like this.
he cleared his throat, the sound deliberate, and watched as she stiffened, her shoulders tensing before she turned slowly to face him. the years had done nothing to dull the sharpness of her features. “well,” he said, his voice rough with sleep but already laced with that easy charm of his, “this is something.” the words hung between them, light but loaded, the weight of a decade of history pressing down on the moment. “of all the dressing rooms in all the world, right?” he rubbed the back of his neck, suddenly hyper-aware of how he must look—rumpled, half-asleep, probably with a crease on his cheek from the pillow. “guess we should’ve known better than to trust these old locks. or maybe the universe just has a sense of humor.”
kyunghee just wanted a moment to slip away, to get away from the noise and find some silence. it was busy, things were always busy as an idol and normally it didn't bother. until it did. this was one of those times, prism had just finished their set and she knew she'd have at least an hour peace before they needed her again. so she slipped away after chatting with her manager for a second. kyung wasn't even tired, she just wanted some quiet to stare into space or mindlessly scroll on her phone so it was a quick get away.
it was the first room she saw, she had slipped in fully prepared to get comfortable. just as she stepped inside, she knew she had to turn around. someone was already in the room. it startled her for a second but she didn't bother trying to figure out who it was. her back as already turned as she prepared to creep out as silently as possible. rest wasn't easy to come by and there wasn't a need for a fuss.
but the door didn't open. she tried again and then once more. it really wouldn't open. there was a pause on her end, wondering how she could get out without making too much noise. then the realization that she just might have to go for it, sleep be damned. then an alarm went off and that strangely brought her a bit of relief. she didn't need to worry about rude. relief that disappeared when she heard just who the voice belonged too.
kyunghee knew it right away. it belonged to the man she had tried to avoid since the day prism made their debut. she coughed, a light one before turning to face him. her entire body was tight and kyunghee found herself reverting to that shy girl that always wondered why someone like him took a second look at someone like her. "of all the dressing rooms..." her words trailed off certainly not enjoying the joke the universe dediced to play on her, them.
her mouth opened, then closed and opened again. what was there to say? kyunghee had gone out of her way not to speak to him. and now she was locked in a room with him. "i guess i should've knocked first." it sounded like a lame joke to her own ears but it was the first thing that came to mind her mouth seemingly was desperate to get it out.
"sorry, i interrupted your nap." even if this alarm had gone off, an apology seemed like the best way to go. "had i realized someone was in the room, i would've found another one to get locked in."
dehua, on an objective level, was probably entirely too young to be at this party. two years too young by all accounts, if the people he was squeezing past, guided only by kyunghee's brisk hostess's pace, were anything to go by. but kyunghee was nice, super nice, and she'd been helping him out a lot in the dance class he was taking on top of the training he was receiving at his company, so it'd been a no-brainer to say yes when she'd extended the invitation. he greeted people as he went, small, awkward bows until they made it into the kitchen.
"did... did you invite me here to..." he paused, rubbing his arm through the sleeve of the too big, too crisp button up shirt he'd borrowed from an older trainee. he'd had to pawn off some of his meal allowance for the week to keep him from telling on him for even being out right now, so he'd felt especially justified in pulling it from the shared wardrobe in the dorm. "shouldn't we be dancing or something? you don't have to baby me, you know, i can get it myself." he made no move to start partaking in anything, instead crossing his arms and quirking an eyebrow with a playful petulance that was practically synonymous with his existence.
this was technically his first real party, especially since he'd moved to korea at the ripe age of fourteen, and his expectations of what that would look like had been set pretty high from movies and the shows (okay, admittedly specifically BLs) he'd started watching to improve his korean skills. "you're supposed to be taking me around, introducing me to all your hot older friends, remember?"
"to...?" kyunghee repeated with a raised brow but she didn't dwell on it. nor did she plan on telling him that she the invite was a personal step for him and a part of her didn't expect dehua to show up at all. a smile formed on her face, followed by teasing roll of her eyes. "well, we don't have to dance, one group i caught playing cards. i think at least two different couples started making out and then slinked off to do..." she trailed off with a shrug, "some are enjoying the water activities, which reminds me, when we go outside to be weary of people throwing things." a water balloon missed her by inches earlier. "and then some people are dancing." she also couldn't tell him that she wanted to keep him out of the chaos for a moment.
"and it's not babying, as a good friend of mines. you get step into the safe place that's off limits and i wanted to get you something to drink before we joined the fray." and he got to see up close and personal what her life was like outside of what dehua knew about.
another brow was raised at the mention of hot friends, followed by an out-right laugh, "to think. you didn't come to the party for me but for the hot friends." a slight joke because she doubted those were the true thoughts running through dehua's head. "let me grab a few drinks to replace what's missing and then we can go around and i'll let you see all of the hot friends." kyunghee knew that was something that she was going to hold over his head for as long as he could. "so grab what you want to drink and we'll brave the crowd."
all she could do was pray that no one would seriously embarrass her.
to be honest i can't tell where you'll be in the future so the first thing i want to make sure of, its that you're happy and healthy when you read this again. it feels like a jinx to say even if you aren't an idol but i even if you aren't, the most important thing is that you're happy and safe. i hope you've managed to find a new layer of courage no matter what you're doing. i hope you haven't limited yourself or given up on yourself. a year isn't a long time away but it's enough for everything to change.
when you read this again, i hope you've found even more goals to strive for in life. people shouldn't do be too idle, when they manage to accompish one thing, they should strive for the next. so i hope you've found more things to strive for. you've never been the type to give up, even if things take a little longer. i hope that no matter what challenges you've taken on, you have pride in yourself and those challenges. i want you to bravely say that you gave everything you could. and if you've failed at anything, i hope that you didn't give up, that you carried on. that you took it as a learning lesson and figured out what you needed to improve on.
when it comes to family, in this year…i don't know if it will happen but i hope you get along with your parents. a cousin from your mom's side got in contact with you. you heard some painful truths, that she's doing fine without you. they gave you her number so maybe you've had the courage to call but don't look down on yourself if you couldn't. things like that hard and she left first. it's the same with your dad. maybe they'll look back one day but you have to continue to move forward.
and when it comes to your career. maybe you've had your solo debut? or have you produced a full album for the group? maybe you've finally started working with other artist in and outside the company. either way, if you're still in the industry then i hope you've been doing everything you could to continue and achieve your dreams. maybe it would be too early to have a solo concert but if you managed, that is amazing.
i just want to say that even if no one else is by your side in the world.
i'm proud of you and i'm here for you.
she had a few minutes of being herself before the camera's rolled.
it wasn't for a lack of trying but people were busy and kami wanted to get her visit out of the way. that's how she found herself at the lynk experience, giving a passing bow to one or two staff members that she recognized. the moment she stepped into the exhibit, a camera was rolling and she knew it was time to switch into her idol persona. "i remember working on everything for this so i hope the fans will enjoy it." her gaze settled on the camera for a second before she started to walk down the hall. "we'll do the artist profiles first…" the words were mumbled to herself but she was sure the camera captured it.
she was sure it would catch everything, the way she spun around the waiting era to give a quick look at all of the profiles. "everyone looks so nice…" she trailed off, walking around until she found her own profile. at this, kyunghee waved the camera-man over to make sure they got a good close up, "i was super nervous while writing my profile, it's easy to talk about yourself but then i had to do it in public points…then it felt like a struggle but i think it worked out in the end." a shrug is offered, a slightly embarrassing smile but she pressed on. this time pointing out of a few that included idols that kami could call a friend.
she lingered for a bit before making it to the lynklist, "this was a hard to complete but i'll show you my list first." again, she had the camera focus in and kami also rambled off a few extra tidbits about the songs she selected. in the end, she was sure that whatever was used for her would be chopped down to under a minute but it didn't hurt to give content.
"who's music taste is just like mines…" eventually, the idea was abandoned as she went around in favor to see who selected songs from her group and which ones they chose. an activity that could've taken longer but she was given a signal to move on. honestly, she didn't see an issue with lingering. they didn't have many other idols here at the moment but maybe the staff member was busy.
for the mix and match, she didn't take the survey but kami's eyes sparkled a little as she address the camera directly. "if anyone matches with me, take a screen shot and upload it, i'll be on the look out to see who's like me the most." the next stop was the memory wall and here kami took her time. some memories overlapped, it was fun to mentally guess what would've been happening by the experience.
kyunghee took a little extra time to stare at her own photos. each had been carefully selected, each memory was something fresh she planned on giving to the world. but the trip down memory lane was the last thing and kami was ready to slid out when the staff reminded her to sign the wall across from them. she chose a clean spot, something the corner.
she did it with a little extra flourish for the camera before giving a smile and wave goodbye.
what do you think is your greatest strength, and what is one flaw you’re working on?
"when it comes to my greatest strength…i think that it would be that i'm able to go with the flow? i'm a person who loves to plan and i don't like change much but when i'm forced to change, i can do it without much compliant. i might having a venting session with my pen or say a few words in my heart but i'm won't dwell and i'll figure out what needs to be done than address my feelings. and one flaw i have…i'm not aggressive enough. it sounds like a strong word but i'm still working on standing up for me and going for what i want without that little extra push."
what does your ideal day off look like?
"that changes depending on my life looks like but currently…i'd wake up an hour later. i think off a day off from work but not life. so, i'd get more into bird watching. that's been an interest of mine but i haven't had the time so…i'd get that out of the way in the morning. once i made sure i didn't have anything pressing at home…i'd check out if there were any shops or stores i heard about but haven't had a chance to visit. then i'd get some food and return home and lazy around, read a book, catch up on some shows but i wouldn't good. order take out."
when you’re feeling stressed or tired, how do you usually recharge?
"….does this sound boring but i recognize. that's my major go to. when i'm working or we're traveling, i default to writing my thoughts down, closing my eyes and listening to my break playlist. but when i'm stressed…i tear what i can down and put it back together or i'll do a deep clean, i'll see if my aunt or uncle need help with anything. it's different when i'm tired. i have a my break playlist like i mentioned, i have an eye-mask and i'll just sit or lay down and chill for twenty minutes or so."
are you more of an early bird or a night owl?
"is it valid to say a bit of both? i used to be an early bird, during my school years and before i became a trainee and then an idol. but that was a change, i found myself becoming less of an early bird and more of a night owl. unless it's a day i have scheduled for cleaning. then i'm up at the crack of dawn and i get rest the night before."
do you prefer planning ahead or going with the flow?
"short answer while i can go with the flow, i love to plan ahead. that's my focus."
when meeting someone new, are you more likely to start the conversation or wait for them?
"a bit of both, i'll give it time and see if the other person starts. if we're both waiting on each other then i'll get one started. i'm quiet by nature but i don't mind starting a convo if it calls for it."
what is one item you cannot live without, and why is it important to you?
"this is such a common answer but my phone. not in a i need to be on social media way but it's a connection to my family. i became a trainee young and i hadn't seen them often the only way we stay connected is the phone or video calls…things like that so it's the most important item to me."
if you weren’t an idol, what career do you think you’d have?
"if i weren't an idol, i'd take the path as a voice actress."
if you could instantly master one skill, what would it be?
"seeing as i'm currently getting into bird watching, i think i'd like to instantly master bird calling skills. it might seem like a silly skill but i think it'd be cool."
what quality do you value most in a friendship?
"how much effort is being put into it on both sides. it's easy to call someone a friend but it's harder to show up. so what i value is that both sides are checking in on each other, helping each other and caring about each other."
do you enjoy trying new concepts, or do you prefer to stick with concepts you’ve done before?
"i really do like trying new concepts. i'm one that thing's to stay the same but it's different when it comes to the creative process. while an artist should find their niche, it's also good try out different concepts, to see what works, what doesn't but we shouldn't limit ourselves."
what moment made you think “this is why i became an idol”?
"that's a hard choice, i wanted to say at our debut music show but i think i'd have to pick when we had our first concert. to stand on stage and see all of fans that came to watch us, to hear the years and the fan-chants. it was really a moment to look back and say that was my dream."
What role do you naturally take within your group?
"a silent help? picking up at the dorm or when we go on trips. i'm the one that will run through the checklist, make sure we have everything, cleaning up after. just silently coming behind and helping out where i can."
which is more difficult for you: asking for help or accepting help?
"this is another tough one. i'm not sure about it, i think overall, asking for help. at least when it comes to something personal. if it's related to singing or dancing or learning. i don't have an issue but if it's something personal to me, it can be like pulling teeth. i don't like to accept help either but its easier for me to accept help than to out-right ask for it."
when something doesn’t go as planned on stage, how do you usually respond?
"this is pretty simple, i'll go crazy over it for a bit. i'll go back and watch the stage a ton of times and then i'll just do what i can improve the next time around."
when making a decision, do you tend to follow your heart or your head?
"most of time, i'm following my head. i think the biggest thing i did to follow my heart was to become an idol but overall, i follow my head."
do you get more satisfaction from working towards a goal or reaching the end result more? why?
"in the end i would have to pick working towards it. it's something about being able to look back at the process once I've reached the goal. i can see what works and what didn't work as i'm going to the next one."
what kind of legacy do you hope you leave behind?
"can i be honest? i'm still not sure at this point. so many things change about me day to day that i don't know what i want to leave. for now, i hope that when people see me, when the next generation of idols come, they can see that it might be hard to put in the hard work but it's extremely rewarding in the end."
complete the sentence: “i feel most like myself when…”
"i feel most like myself when i'm in the practice room."
that photo was taken by her kyunghee's aunt when she was twelve years old and planned to go on her first audition in seoul. she did end up getting into the company but it thing's were shady and her aunt quickly noticed something was wrong and pulled her out. while the experiance didn't end as kyunghee wanted, she'd never forget get ready for her first audition with her aunt. it's a core memory and the start of her journey to becoming an idol
2nd photo ; top row
a photo of what could've been, they were given copies and kyunghee held onto hers. in the end, the company settled on the concept and out-line for prism but they were still testing concepts. at one point they had grown close enough to the idea they wanted and had the girls take test concept photos. in the end, the company went in a different direction and the concept was no more. it always reminded her that things could change in the industry and nothing was settled until it went out, even then…things could change at a moment's notice.
1st photo ; second row
taken on kyunghee's first day of being a dsn trainee. she had taken it and sent it to the family group-chat, a moment to say it was real. she finally settled at a company and despite the challenges, it was a well-known not as shady company and there was a real chance for her debut. just like a few years earlier, it was the start of her dream and her goal to stand on stage. another core memory that reminded her she could take the next step in following her dreams
2nd photo ; second row
taken on prism's tour buss for their first overseas tour in the usa. it was one thing to debut, one thing to have her own fan-meets and concerts but it was whole another thing to go on tour and perform in front of so many people. it again hammered home how real her debut was that she was actually following the path she set out on. not only that, it showed how many people wanted to see them, how many knew about them. always leaving her with a feeling of tiredness but excitement at the same time.
1st photo ; third row
a memory from 2021 when the company gave their approval for to go with her full choreography for loco. the photo was taken before the approval, when kyunghee was still putting together the dance. a large part of her doubted she would be chosen or that they wouldn't take her seriously. she had already had her hands on the music for loco and kami wondered if that would be considered a step too far. many hours were spent getting the moves right, begging friends to record with her and be her dancers. in the end she pressed forward and managed. they selected her and this photo represents all of the hope that went into it.
2nd photo ; third row
another memory from 2021 when they were recording for the b-side shoot. it was another song that kyunghee got to participate on when it came to the groups music. this was selected as she already had references to the album but again it's a core reminder. it really cemented that she had a chance, even if was only for one album that she got really say that she was involved with her work beyond singing and dancing what was given to her.
the first song that kami had written from her group. not that the first one that she had a sole control over the sound and the style. the sound being a blend of dance, hip-hop, pop-rock with some light country influences. it was a song she had been working on in song camps for a while and finally, she had the courage to present this song along with a few others. sorry not sorry and shoot were selected but shoot was more of a collaborative song while sorry not sorry was her own work. for that reason, it'll always have it's own place in her heart.
prism ; supernatural
supernatural is also dear to her because she did attempt to do the same slightly taunting style that imaginary carried but with a more dreamy vibe. what keeps kami coming back to the song are the lyrics and the memories of recording the vocals. since it was another track that she was personally involved in, she also helped when they working on the guide vocals and finally recording the track. they really managed to nail down the more dreamy, mysterious side of the track while keeping away the moodiness. while she worked on the music previously, she had often let the recording, guide and some other vocal aspects to the hands of their producing them or partners. but this time she was also involved in every bit of the process and there are more memories attached to this song.
eve psyche blue bird wife ; callista
kami had fallen for the song from the first moment she heard the opening. it became an instant favorite of hers though the group's overall style hasn't been always been her style. her enjoyment in song truly lies in the pre-chorus, the post chorus in the intro of the song. the style and slight indifference in the "i'm a mess" line has always been something that's been stuck in her head. it help's that it's pure jersey club and perfect when she's dancing to release stress. it's also a song she goes to when she's in the practice room and wants to try out different moves, it's just fun to get creative too.
beyond the mask; serene
one of her favorite song's simply because of the lyrics and the ending emotions. it's made it onto a few different playlist of hers because it can fit so many moods. it the lyrics while being very blunt, are super heartful but the emotions carry the song so much that it became an instant save though the whole album has to be one of her favorites. the song is soft and has made it onto her sleep playlist. it's not the most complex but there are a few ways that the song's are sung that simply call out to kami and bring her a little comfort.
really bad boy; trixie
the singing and the high notes made it an instant fav, hearing it the first time kami had been seriously impressed by the high notes and then appreciate grew for the vocal harmonies layered throughout the song and that managed to keep the pace from start to visit. it was another that went straight to workout playlist. overall, trixie is a group that leans into her own personal taste so many songs of theirs have made it onto various playlist. there is just something that about really bad boy that kami enjoys listening to over and over again.
dont wanna cry; everlast
if kami fell in with love with the opening seconds of the song, watching the dance performance live cemented the songs place in her heart. in general, she enjoyed dem and electropop music so it was already up her ally. the entire song along with the layer of dancing and as a dancer, it's carved out a special place inside her heart. it's a song that travels playlist to playlist, every time she tries to make new ones or pick a playlist of the week, it's a song kami wants to hear. that being said, she more often that not ends up listening to it at night.
as if its your last ; divine
taking inspo from some synth-pop as been what she's been focusing on as a producer. as she worked on them, she kept coming back to as if it's your last. synth-pop with the house elements brought forth a purely fun pop song. kami's favorites parts of the song are the chorus and post-chorus. unlike most of divine's songs, there something that's fun and unique about it. for kmai, it's an eye-worm song and randomly comes into her thoughts when she least expects it. the song also serve's as her second most played divine song.
stay ; divine
stay is her most played divine song, she became from the opening instrumental. it's just a very, soft, pretty song including the music and the lyrics. it's song kami finds herself going to when it rains or when she's going a walk in the early hours. "i don't expect a lot right now, stay with me." there is something about that lyric that stays with her.
see that ; evo
kami is a huge fan of evo and loves almost all of their songs. she knew she would love see that but when she finally heard the song, she fell in love. it seemed to capture everything that was evo and what she loved about the group. the darker mode of the song paired with the lower harmonies had been a delight when she heard it. vocally, exo had always been impressive but this song showed off their lower notes and brought kami a knew love and understanding for their voices.
love is lonely ; evo
when she first heard love is lonely, kami could feel the hazy dreamlike vibe of the song right away. she mainly loves the song because of raw and resigned the lyrics are. it brought back memories for kami and she knew if had been released a few years ago, it would've hit home. the song is sad but doesn't drag like a normal ballad. it balances the pop-edm fusion and the vocals perfectly. it was her most played song the year it came out and has remained a favorite.
kyunghee could admit that dahua was a bit of a distraction, one that she was happy to have. there was a bit of relief that he had actually shown up. despite knowing each other for a years at this point, she had shared a different world with him. one more focused on her future dreams and career. but she had been convinced to host an end of the summer party by her friends. this would be their last year in high school and they had wanted to go out with a bang.
kyunghee wasn't interested in bang and with more compromise on her part, they had something. it wasn't overly loud, people were enjoying themselves to her home and her service while she ran around as the host. being called whenever someone needed something, pushed into ordering just a bit more. there was just a reason but it had been time to take that first step.
kyunghee ushered the other in with a smile, though she hadn't said much until they made it to the kitchen. oddly, enough this was one spot in the house was that was free from traffic. another thing she insisted on. there were tables with food, the entire living and dining room. They didn't have a pool but there was enough space in the bag that she had been able to get a few water related activities up. In short, there were enough places to be, bathrooms and sinks to use. The kitchen had become her safe place.
as if anyone wanted to help her in here away. kyunghee frowned at the thought for a moment but she looked at dehua with a smile. "i'm glad you could make it, do you want anything to drink? there is food and snacks as well.." she wasn't being polite about it, "if fact…it'd be a help if you managed to pack any of this away, i'm pretty sure i'll be living off left overs for the next month so."
