First day at clinical

Hello beautiful people,

I am so happy to be back on here. Guys I had my first on sit peds clinical on the 1/24/2021. I was so nervous going into clinical but the movement I got there and saw those beautiful little angles my whole nervousness went away. I had so much fun doing the stuff I love to do, the movement I started interacting with my patients I felt so good and proud because I feel like I was born to be a nurse; and I enjoy everything about my clinical and I can’t wait to go back on sit. Please comment and let me know how was your first day at clinical?

Hi Katrina, I love how passionate you are about the nursing profession! During our med-surge simulation, I was able to see how comfortable you were in your role as a nursing student. I also remember you mentioned how you started working in the medical field at a very young age. I think that your passion for medicine and for learning will make you a great pediatric nurse! Keep up the good work!

First (Pediatric) Clinical

I’m writing this a week after the fact, but that’s how things are in nursing school.

Last Sunday was my first ever clinical experience! We are at Nemours duPont Hospital for Children - I am beyond excited to be learning at such a wonderful place and with such amazing nurses.

I never thought I would want to work with children, but now I think that was because I don’t know anything about them! My biggest fear was not being able to handle seeing a kid in pain or struggling, but I realized that’s what we nurses are here for - we’re the ones that will help stop the pain and make them more comfortable, and I think seeing a kid smiling and giggling at the end of the day is worth it.

We’ll see, but this is exactly what clinical is for - figuring out what you like and what you can handle because it will be a long shift regardless.

Hi Rachel, we both have clinical at the same location, and you totally right about how wonderful DuPont children hospital is and how amazing it’s working with the nurses. And I am amaze that you over come your fear and realize that we are there to help them and keep them pain free. Keep your head up and continue being amazing.

My first 2 exam for the semester,

I had my first two exam for the semester this week, and it was very stressful getting ready for both exams but with God I was about to get through it. How is this semester going with guys? I had a great day today with my friends, just taking litter bit time away from school and practicing self care. So guys don’t forget to take care of yourself because self care is very important, and have a great weekend.

My First Pediatric Clinical

My first pediatric clinical was an experience that I will never forget. The long hours on my feet were something that I wasn’t used to, but wouldn’t trade for the world. I would recommend exercising often and getting used to working long hours. I would also recommend eating a full meal before clinical starts, regardless of how hungry you actually are. Try to stay focused and absorb as much information as you could.

I felt the same way about my first day at clinical. I was so nervous but the movement I got there everything went away. I will never forget this experience as well, and what you are saying about the meals and exercising you are right, because doing long hours without food in system is very uncomfortable and if you don’t take care of yourself you will not be able to take care of your patients, so peers take care of yourself.

I am really excited and nervous at the same time to start this semester because we are starting clinical but with God all things are possible. And good luck with everything this semester guys, nursing is not an easy major so keep your heads up, stay motivated and take care of yourself.
