Halloween 1976
Alice Fortescue as a fairy
ofcmckinnon:
“No need to get all jumpy, mate. It’s just a jinx. The jack-in-the-box jumps out every time it suspects someone’s trying to spike the drinks.” Marlene smirked. “They’re getting clever, they are.”
Alice nodded slowly, she knew what jinxes they had used, but the jack-in-the-box always got her. Especially the one that just kept winding till it thought scared a possible drink-spiker. “We just had a fresh batch of punch brought up every time they suspected that someone had spiked it. Clever, yeah.”
callmeregulus:
“It’s okay if you were. In fact, it would be a compliment if you were. It would mean my costume is a success.”
“Well I wasn’t. It is a very good costume. Lifelike, well, if they were live creatures. Technically they are. They’re amortal, you see. Never having died and will never die.” Alice took a step back, taking a deep breath. “It is a nice costume.”
ofnarcissasblack:
“Impressed? That I’m doing homework?”
“That you seem to care about your schoolwork. That you are putting effort in.”
lovemenott:
“Well, that makes one of us! I was terrified.”
Alice laughed, both from nerves and the other girl. “That was pretty scary.”
franklongbottom-jr:)
Frank laughed, smiling over at Alice. “When were we ever cool?“ he joked.
“You? Never.” Alice teased. “I distinctly remember being cool in sixth year, though. Do you remember my honey bee costume?”
franklongbottom-jr:
Frank probably should have been doing actual work but once he saw Alice he walked over to her, sitting on the windowsill as she looked out the window. He glanced over his shoulder, smiling when he turned back to her, “I suppose so. But they are just leaves, Al, doing the same thing they do every year,” he teased.
Alice playfully punched Frank on the arm, looking over at him. She feigned offense. “They do it every year, yeah, but...” She troubled her brain for some kind of witty comeback, but with Frank near her it was sometimes hard to concentrate enough. She huffed. “Just shut up and look how pretty those “just leaves” are.”
franklongbottom-jr:
Frank laughed softly, raising an eyebrow as the student next to him walked into the great hall. “That’s some costume.”
Alice smiled as she walked toward Frank, watching the student wander off with a roll of their eyes. “We aren’t even that far from their age and we are already not cool.”
“What? No, I wasn’t scared. Not at all.” Alice laughed.
ofnarcissasblack:
“No need to look so confused.” She muttered, not even looking up, “Some people around this school actually do homework, you know, in order to pass their classes.”
“I wasn’t meaning to look confused... just surprised.” Alice smiled at the younger girl. “and impressed.”
arthur-headofmmao:
Darkness had fallen on Hogsmeade and he guessed it had to be nearly eight or nine o’clock. He hated getting called out late at night, having to leave Molly home with their babies. But, he was the Head of the Misuse of Muggle Artifacts Department and he didn’t feel it fair to make anyone else go out this late. Luckily, it hadn’t been a hard one to deal with. Someone had stuck a few firecrackers in a loo and by the time he had gotten there he just had to make sure they had all been properly extinguished before tossing them away. A nice butterbeer sounded good and in his haste to The Three Broomsticks he ran straight into someone, knocking them down at his feet. He leaned over, quick to hold out his hand, “Sorry, about that!” Eyeing them for a moment, he arched a brow, recognizing the person. “What exactly are you doing here this late?”
Alice was glad to be able to leave the castle, even if it was for just a short time. Being there again was strange, and the amount of times she woke up in the night, sure that she was going to be late for her astronomy class was far too many times to count. She was stuck in a loop, nearly going to class like the students, and then reminding herself that she was graduated, and there for part of her training.
Hogsmead was an escape, and a nice one at that. She had stood up to head to the bar again, ready to grab another drink when she collided with Arthur. “I’m the one that should be sorry,” she exclaimed. “I-- Well I am escaping for a bit. What are you doing here?”
callmeregulus:
“Why do the teachers keep reminding us how important O.W.L.S are? Do they think we’ll forget if they don’t bring it up every five minutes?”
“They’re important. If your teachers don’t remind you, you’ll get distracted and then blame them when you aren’t prepared for your O.W.L.S. Really, they’re covering their arses.”
Alice sighed as she leaned against the wall, looking out at the grounds like she had when she was in school. This had always been her favorite spot to sit outside, where she could see everything. She didn’t look over as she heard footsteps coming her way, but smiled slightly. “The leaves are changing. It is beautiful, yeah?”
