Bring Tron Uprising to streaming!
Like the way the original Tron tried to make the audiences of 1982 understand computers (a year before even the internet was a thing), Tron Uprising gave the world of 2012 an 18 episode original series that tanked, because technology did not allow us the luxury of straight to streaming originals the way Netflix and Stan does now.
Voltron, She-ra, Devilman Crybaby; all three of these franchises were originally launched in the 1980′s and given new story, a new audience and a new life thanks to Netflix. Think of what it could do for Tron!
Here in Australia, streaming service Stan recently added a vault of Disney films, which makes me believe there is hope for Tron Uprising. Netflix unfortunately, would be a lot more difficult but if the rumours of a Disney exclusive streaming service for the US are true, there may be hope in the future.
I reached out to Stan myself recently and was told their Support page, found here, is the best way to reach out to Stan’s content team to let them know we want to see Tron Uprising addd to their service. If you have some time, please drop a message over to Stan to express your interest in seeing Tron Uprising on their service!
Netflix also has a “request content” page, found here, but as said before, Tron being a Disney product means pure demand is likely not going to be enough to get it there.
Again, like the original movie before it, had Tron Uprising been brought to the world just 5 years later, maybe we’d be seeing more of it than a joke of it being a dead franchise in other Disney productions. Had Uprising been distributed on an easy to access streaming service as opposed to a premium, paid service like Disney XD with the dreadful time slot of the middle of the night, maybe we’d already know what happened to Beck and the revolution.
Please, my fellow Programs, we’re in a new time of technology, let’s use it.
