Because then the broadcast shows this nifty little steal Ilya made earlier, and sh24_hockey stops on that frame. “Sloppy play from Rozanov here,” he announces through the staticky background noise, which – what? * Being at the top of the league is a lonely endeavour – until Ilya finds an annoying streamer with astonishing insights, who is strangely familiar…

Summary:

Shane Hollander has accepted a full-ride scholarship to attend Moscow Medical, pursuing a career in Sports Medicine. Moving to Russia, where healthcare for omegas is strictly regulated and heat suppressants are banned, necessitates finding a black market connection to obtain the medication that will allow him to survive his academic career without the interruption of his heat.

A midnight drug deal in a dirty back alley introduces him to the mysterious Rozanov, a dangerous man who meets Shane with bloody knuckles and a wild smile. The connection they form exists outside the law in more ways than one, and promises to change Shane’s life forever.

A medication mishap through an American supplier causes turmoil for Shane in several ways—something that Rozanov, or Ilya, as Shane comes to know him, is deadset on making right, one way or another.

Even if that means killing the President of the United States.

“Dude, did you get a tattoo?” Shane looked over. Shelly, who had the stall next to his at the CN Sports Complex locker room, was staring at Shane’s left arm. “Uh, no?” “What the hell is it, then? Looks gnarly as hell.” Shane looked down at the dark squiggly shape on his delt, an irregular blob slightly bigger than a loonie. Its edges were a series of indentations and protrusions, kind of like a jigsaw puzzle piece. If he’d seen this on anyone else, he would’ve assumed it was a tattoo, too. A shitty one that should be lasered off ASAP. “I don’t know,” he said. “It kinda showed up out of nowhere, like, last night.”

Written for the @iceouthr charity fundraiser. My recipient requested soulmate trope subversion. I mostly subverted it by leaning into how weapons-grade oblivious these two are. Listen, they are simply too beautiful and too horny to think.

the girlies!! 🥰 i have been itching to write more sapphic fic for a while now, and rose and svetlana are such fun characters! perhaps writing an AU with them to start with rather than canon wasn't the best way to get a good hold on their voices, but i had so much fun with this 💜
