I just arrived in Romania and I’m going to the Transylvania region next week.
Fun life update I guess, I’ve been traveling around the world with no fixed address for a year. I’ve been to 26 countries! Also, it’s cheaper to do this than to try to live in America.
Anyway, my favorite places I’ve been have been Kazakhstan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Malaysia, and Morocco.
I had to start offering a dirt cheap conversation class on my English teaching platform, because the algorithm is now run by an AI that has decided people don’t want to pay for their lessons. It is what it is. As long as the cheap class is there, people can see my profile and book the other lessons. The cheap class is basically for high level adult English speakers to talk about anything they want while I write down their grammar mistakes and offer enough input to keep the conversation going.
Anyway, I recently got paid 11 dollars to listen while somebody explained Wincest to me for 1 hour. The good news is that the knowledge I gained from tumblr allowed me to ask her the right questions to keep her very happily talking, and she bought a 20 lesson package of my most expensive structured course.
i call this phenomenon "god hates me"
to pretend that horrible people cannot make good art is another way to conflate beauty and talent with integrity and morality. the works of monsters are best examined with knowledge of the author in mind but art is not inherently reflective. human beings are creative, and habitual liars- it'd be stupid to pretend art must always be a portrait of its creator
#also try as you might ‘bad people can’t make good art’ accustoms you to a way of thinking that’s risky#‘i know x’s art is good therefore x cannot be bad’ is a line of reasoning it’s easy to back into without meaning to

Why do you become mutuals with random people?
This is the follow random people website
I love whoever runs Los Mis Madrid social media accounts so much. Wtf is this why is it so canon.
I added English subtitles because the world needs to see it
to be honest i think there’s a large number of people who conflate the very real and widespread phenomenon that women tend to be written off as just mothers or love interests in order to diminish their importance in a given story with the fact that a huge reason they’re sent to narrative purgatory in this way is BECAUSE the labels of “mother” and “girlfriend/wife” are systematically devalued and seen as inherently inferior because they’re terms that have been associated with ownership and/or control over women. like the amount of people who’ve told me that a certain female character is uninteresting or badly written because she happened to have a kid or be a man’s girlfriend or sister just to find out she was actually fleshed out very well and carried significant narrative importance frustrates me soo bad. there’s a huge problem with how those roles (specifically “wife” and “mother”) are systematically devalued and yet also perpetuated as the only viable options for women to achieve their societal roles in the patriarchy but acknowledging the devaluation of those labels to begin with is an important discussion in itself.
The other thing of note in the world of fan fic I haven’t had time to write in forever is that somebody has apparently been feeding my Little Women fic into AI to create more Little Women fic in my style. 🤷
Did somebody draw something based on my old Be More Chill fic Stammer recently? It’s started getting reviews again out of nowhere and one of the reviews mentioned finding it based on fan art.
So I’m in Montenegro, staying at the top of a hill. There is a pharmacy about a 30 minute walk down the hill ( takes twice as long to go back up) and my time is limited. There is a mini supermarket on the hill.
I started my period out of nowhere today and had awful cramps, but was very busy and had no time to go down the hill, so I figured I’d check if the market had some painkillers. I asked the person working there, and it took a minute for her to understand me ( I looked up the local word for IBUPROFEN, but was pronouncing it wrong ). They didn’t carry it, but she saw that my shopping basket otherwise just contained pads and a chocolate bar, and I think I must have looked quite usable uncomfortable, because she went to the back room and gave me two IBUPROFEN pills from her own purse.
btw it's so fucking stupid you can be anxious physically in your body even after you've decided mentally you don't care. I'm supposed to be in charge here
i would rather see the information for an event handwritten in sharpie on a paper towel than see another AI generated flyer
Saving this post to show my boss who I told the AI flier makes us look lazy and ignorant, and offered to hand draw one. She still printed tons of ai fliers and I'm tempted to make a better one just because it annoys me so much.
Fun update: event was canceled because literally nobody rsvp'd to the AI flier.

Shout out to all your internet friends who are gone.
Those messenger screen names that haven’t logged on in ages, some before detailed profiles were a thing on those services.
Those emails that are long since abandoned, some with domains that no longer exist.
Those online friends you knew years ago and who then helped shaped you in some way, who you just can’t FIND anymore.
Those people who once were, and hopefully still exist IRL, that seem to have no known internet life anymore.
And those who have actually passed on, and their online lives are now a memorial to them.
I miss you all. I hope life is/was kind to you, and maybe one day, we’ll somehow connect again.
Anne, aka AcrylicDrama, from musicals.net, back in…2003-2005, when I was in high school. We were dear friends, chatted on AIM every night. Talked about musicals, crushes, things giving us teenage angst, our favorite shows. She liked to take photos of inanimate objects that she thought had personality, like this one fire hydrant. She loved Les Mis the most and had a huge crush on Enjolras. She was in Chicago and a few other shows.
I got a part in The Fantasticks, and I couldn’t WAIT to log on and tell her, since she’d been in that show. And we talked every day!
But she didn’t come online then. Or the day after that, or months, years now. I never heard from her again. She disappeared as if she never was. And I didnt have her last name so I couldnt even fb search when fb became a thing.
Maybe she dies. It’s the worst case scenario.
Maybe her parents took her off the internet, parents back then were paranoid about internet friendships.
But no way of ever knowing. Anne disappeared. I hope she’s still alive. I hope she performed in many musicals and danced and sang, and I hope her photos found their way to…galleries, or wherever photos go.
Never forgot you, Anne.
Hey, anybody from Musicals.net I haven’t talked to in ages that I’m not already facebook friends with, this is MrsJamieWellerstein/Mysterons. I was an annoying high schooler, and y'all were nice to me. It was great to have a place where what I learned later was a hyperfixation on musical theater (late diagnosed autistic what WHAAAT) was just… normal.
Nobody follows this blog, I just started it a couple weeks ago because nostalgia. But @caithes-blossom, I didn’t interact with Anne as far as I can recall, but I do remember the username AcrylicDrama popping up in the general group, usually involving Enjolras. At the time, I didn’t know any of the students’ names except for Marius; those posts taught me what the hell their names were.
Musicals.net!! I was Chi. I posted A LOT between like 2002-2007.
