Plumb Spectacular! Plumb is a new line of blank notebooks envisioned, designed, and illustrated by contemporary artists, created in collaboration with Knock Knock. Each element is carefully considered, from inside to outside, paper to binding, size to function, with the aim of enhancing the creative process. A Single Sheet of A4 Paper Artist Peter Callesen describes his work: “By taking away all the information and starting from scratch using the blank white A4 paper sheet for my creations, I feel I have found a material that we are all able to relate to, and at the same time the A4 paper sheet is neutral and open to fill with different meaning. "Dongwook Lee's works focus on the contradictions that are fundamentally inherent in human existence and life. Exquisitely hyper-realistic and surrealistically imagined renditions of his miniature human figures are staged in absurd situations in Lee's works, in which the bleak everyday life transforms into poetic horror. In Lee’s work, a fragile warrior is wearing his own flesh as his armor, and the naked child stands with innocent face in front of blood-stained killing (which he might have committed). His oeuvre stands at an odd intersection of life and death, beauty and cruelty, civilization and wild, and reality and fantasy, unfolding a world of fantasy where people are severed from reality." This is Not a Toy Show In recognizing the rise in the production of designer toys—part merchandise, part art—Canada’s Design Exchange (DX) has dedicated an entire exhibition to these types of pieces, enlisting contemporary cultural figure Pharrell Williams, an avid collector himself, to co-curate the show. in collaboration with instigator and co-curator john wee tom, and DX associate curator Sara Nickelson, the three have realized a presentation of work that highlights the practice of more than a dozen key artists and toy designers who have established a following in this creative and commercial genre. Wine in a Can? Just sit back and marvel at Union Wine Co.’s latest idea: wine in a can. In an effort to break down the formality that often comes with wine culture, the company has taken a “pinkies down” approach. Who needs a barn, anyway? After Hurricane Xaver swept through northern Germany in December, one woman decided to take it upon herself to help a local resident. He just happened to be a horse. Stephanie Arndt invited her 3-year-old Arabian horse, named Nasar, into her home.
