Boyfriend and I came across the interview Ken Levine had where he canonized Brigid Tenenbaum as being Autistic and it's bad.
He goes on a whole "I am such a great writer" slog about intersectionality within video games and how Tenenbaum is more than her three traits (woman, Jewish, autistic) because she actually does *bad* and *unexpected* things despite being a disenfranchised person. Huh?
Anyways do you want to know what he says after praising his diverse character writing of Tenenbaum?:
Motherfucker really said "of all the characters in *both* Bioshock games" and said ELIZABETH is as or more oppressed than TENENBAUM (you put a white woman against another even more white woman what is happening)
of course the guy that's only been behind the writing of one single black character who dies as a result of being a "too violent revolutionary" and wanting to take the life of her oppressor's son would say that
The thing about Brigid Tenenbaum and Grace Holloway that I find especially interesting is the ways knowledge fits into both their arcs.
Tenenbaum being at the center of the ADAM project means that she knows all the gory details of how gatherers/protectors are made and what the process does to a person’s body. At the same time though, the horror of what she’s done by allowing her research into the hands of people like Ryan, Fontaine, and Lamb (as well as her own self-loathing for being the source of all that suffering) don’t fully dawn on her until it’s too late to do much besides mitigate the damage already done. And then in Bioshock 2, when she returns to Rapture hoping to develop a cure for ADAM sickness and rescue the little sisters from Lamb, there’s a whole decade of new research she has only limited knowledge of. She needs the thinker’s computational abilities to aid her research because as intelligent as she is, solving this problem (of her own invention) wouldn’t be possible for her to do alone before she died. She knows so much and yet due to the nature of the society she lived in and the miracle she discovered, there will always be something new she doesn’t know.
And then there’s Grace. She had no part to play in creating the Little Sisters or Big Daddies, so she doesn’t fully know why their existence is such a tragedy, but if her misguided hatred of Delta for Eleanor becoming a little sister is anything to go off of, she knows something. She knows on some level how wrong it is, but because of her faith in Lamb she’s still willing to accept that the little sisters wandering around rapture are children of the family. That even if he turns them human again, subject delta is stealing these girls from their rightful family, and she remains ignorant of the truth until it quite literally comes looking for her. If she lives, she survives with the knowledge that Lamb was wrong about this, so what else might she be wrong about? And her last words in canon are her saying she needs answers from Lamb about what the truth really is. Grace doesn’t know the exact science of how ADAM works, but somewhere deep in her heart she knows more of the awful truth than Lamb wants her to know, and that knowledge is what drives a wedge between her and the family
And I just think that’s a really cool parallel. Tenenbaum understands the evil she’s created better than anyone but even she has to make peace with how there will always be so much more she doesn’t know; Grace doesn’t understand the reality of what she’s been enabling all these years and has to come to terms with the fact that she knew all along.

I was studying Journalism and Media at the University College, and I had both a home and a job. But because of the war, I lost my home, my work, and everything I owned.
My family’s house was also destroyed, and now we have nothing left except a worn-out tent whose torn walls cannot protect us from the heat of summer or the cold of winter.
My husband is injured. He was involved in a traffic accident while trying to get aid, and he is now disabled and unable to work.
My children have suffered from malnutrition due to the lack of food and proper nutrition.
That is why I am only asking for your help and support. I am here trying to save what is left of my children’s lives. They are between life and death.

i see a lot of people (me) assume that chell is a "good" person: an ordinary young adult who was just starting her career, or perhaps still in school, who found herself in an unfortunate situation. but what if she isn't any of that? what if the things glados said to her were true, that she's a bitter, unlikable loner without a fulltime job or friends. maybe she's prone to emotional outbursts and struggles with commitment on account of her actually been abandoned on a doorstep, so she was constantly hurting the people around her and destroying anything good that she had going for herelf. applying to be a test subject at aperture was her last resort, since she had literally nothing left to lose. not that any of this makes somebody a bad person -- they'd just be mentally and probably financially troubled -- but it certainly would be reason to be miserable and an overall unpleasant person to be around.
or maybe she did have a pretty average life, and she just doesn't *think* she's a good person. she hurt some people before going into aperture, and when she realizes during the time of the second game that everybody she knows and loves is probably dead, she's crushed with immense guilt knowing that she never got the chance to make it up to them. they never gave her the chance to forgive her for whatever she did, so she cannot forgive herself.
