Hand painted batik works in the making.
Explorations in nature’s textures.
Explorations in surface design.
I have been working with handmade greeting cards recently because I love being able to use my fabric scraps for something appropriate in a cute and useful manner.
I bring you these 3 examples using a simple origami fold from a half circle. You can seriously make so many of them and very quickly. I added some decorative stitches that let the shape stay in place while adding a bit of sparkle.
Happy Holidays, everyone!
I have always been fascinated and attracted to mushrooms. Their mystery and beauty combined with the sometimes grotesque nature of their intrinsic decomposing qualities are captivating to my imagination.
I have done many experiments with natural dyeing with mushrooms and various natural fibers like wool, silk, and cotton. This is an area of craft that I will eventually develop more in my own work.
In this textile print I have used images of the amanita to replicate a continuous mushroom print. The result is a dreamy print of a mushroom that almost resembles mold.
I adore whimsical themes with a hint of darkness. Something that belongs in a long lost fairy forest with creatures that grow beautifully in the shadows and emerge to life with stark contrast against the wooded landscape.
