How they look at each other
the great ace attorney kills me cause why is every character connected through a crime from 10 years ago and Naruhodo is just there
Breaking my several year harry potter silence just to say that in the Apollo Justice Trilogy, they removed the harry potter reference they originally had in the game. Which means that if you still consume hp content and talk about it, you are doing worse than fucking capcom
@endigolikesarson In the original, for the running joke regarding Valant and doors, Apollo calls Valant a muggle
While in the remaster, he says this which is way funnier even without the baggage
Everyone reblogging this post saying stuff like "they probably changed it because of copyright/dated reference" NEEDS to know that 1. There are multiple references to Doctor Who and Star Trek and a character probably named after someone from Battlestar Galactica of all things and 2. The lead writer for the localization stuff with Ace Attorney uses they/them pronouns.

in hindsight, growing up as an aromantic person who didn't know aromanticism was a thing...it woulda been really easy for me to assume that something was wrong with me, that I was "broken" or "missing" some piece of humanity.
luckily I was autistic, oblivious, and had a huge ego. it literally never occurred to me to frame it as a "me" problem. i just thought every single person i knew was a dumbass
not trying to be mean, that was just the natural conclusion of a judgemental aspec teenager forcibly surrounded by other teenagers. classmates would go on and on about their Longings and Yearnings and id be like. girl u r fifteen
okay.
Ok well I've officially watched through one (1) Ace Attorney case on recommendation and I'm not sure if it's the best or worst 'proper' introduction I could have gotten.
I'm pretty sure this is like the sixth game in the series. I have no idea who any of these character are nor how we got here. At one point one of the defense lawyers strangles the other. I think this man is supposed to be both british and a samurai. His co-worker keeps mentioning his famed 'psychological manipulation' technique and he literally just insults the witnesses until they do what he wants. He's not even supposed to be on this case, he just sat behind the defense bench and nobody made him leave. Also I think he's been to jail. The main reason he's here to begin with is because he really wants soba. There's a magical Indian(?) elf man who can summon butterflies and does so every five minutes. The accused is completely wasted for 90% of his screentime and passes out multiple times (but still rides a skateboard without incident). Nobody understands how doors work. One of the defense lawyers is psychic in a way that's *completely different* from the other psychic I'm familiar with and everyone keeps giving her bird-themed nicknames. There's a clown. The judge wants to fuck the clown. Someone let a hawk into the courtroom. The hawk is sent on an errand to buy alcohol so the entire cast can try to get slightly drunk. In addition to the defense throttling their own side at one point the butterfly man assaults the defense woman multiple times and tells her she's going to hell. The entire case is predicated on a Japanese art form that at one point the prosecution spends several minutes meticulously explaining why it's funny. One of the witnesses is a guy who's actually four guys and one of them is five years old. The case hinges massively on interrogating the five year old. The five year old is my new favorite character. The victim was suffocated with pasta. I have no goddamn idea where the hell Phoenix is. To my understanding this entire thing has literally nothing else to do with the rest of the game. This is completely fucked. I love it

this specific screencap from the anime is so precious to me that i redrew it for fun!
Emos & scene kids got this close to abolishing gender for real. I try not to think about it too much.
The idea of a popular teenage subculture where girl & boys pretty much all dress the same feels impossible now but for a while it was reality and it was beautiful.
