Vex sighs, taking a deep breath before knocking lightly and pushing open the door to their bedroom. As expected she finds Percy sitting on the edge of the bed, looking down at the floor. She says nothing as she walks over and sits down beside him, lacing their fingers together.
Wordlessly, Percy leans his head on her shoulder. The silence that passes between them, as always, is full of comfort and understanding. "I apologize for raising my voice," Percy tells her after a moment. "It's just...Delilah could destroy everything we've built all over again. She could hurt you and the children and I would never be able to live with myself if we brought her back."
"I know." Vex leans her head against his. "Darling, I know, believe me. It was a hard situation, but you don't have to apologize."
He squeezes her hand, "There were too many variables-"
"I know." Vex kisses the side of his head. "It's alright. Pike is taking care of everything, we're going to make sure Delilah isn't the one who comes back. She can't hurt you anymore, darling."
She turns him towards her and hugs him tight, one hand on the back of his head with a gentle sigh. She holds him close, closing her eyes. "Today was a lot, we don't have to talk about it," she assures him. "You should talk to your sister at some point, she deserves to know."
Percy nods into her shoulder, his hands pulling her even closer. "I will, thank you."
Vex smiles and pulls away from him just enough to push his hair from his face, "There's no need for thanks between us. Would you like me to stay with you a little longer?"
Percy nods, "Just a few more minutes. I promised that I'd help Gwen with her studies and the twins are probably expecting you."
Vex hums in agreement and Percy returns himself to her arms, resting his head on her shoulder once more. She runs her hand along his spine in a motion that has never failed to sooth him.
