watching heated rivalry right now genuinely feels like witnessing TV history. i know it’s the hockey yaoi show bla bla bla but genuinely i have not seen this level of quality writing and filmmaking on TV in such a long ass time, and i don’t just mean for queer shows, i mean TV, period. especially after episode four it’s clear to me that this show isn’t just good because it’s gay it’s good because it’s just actually fucking good. it is being created by actual artists who care about the craft of filmmaking and storytelling and are using a queer story to do so. but because that queer story is all about gay sex, and gay sex is icky and taboo and makes the general hetero populace clutch their pearls, people are gonna do everything imaginable to not take it as seriously as they could. even though the acting, writing, and cinematography is some of the best i’ve ever seen. and even though they’re using sex to tell a story in a way i have literally never seen anything onscreen EVER do before. this is an emmy award winning show to me
