Before the concert England beat France 6:2 to finish third at the World Cup 2026.

Jude scored a beautiful goal just before the end of the game, and became the first England player to score 7 goals at a single World Cup tournament.

So it was a sweet tribute by Louis for his football crush Jude Bellingham.

As pointed out in this post Pete Samson is married to Ann-Marie Thompson the Global Head of Media for Syco. He also writes for the Sun and according to his twitter account he is “writing about the USA for the good folk back home.” That post also pointed out that he has written many of the major articles about babygate and Haylor. I searched through the Sun to find all of the articles he has written over the past couple of years and he did write those big articles but what’s interesting to me is those are more or less the only articles he has written about One Direction with a few notable exceptions. It’s possible that he has written others and I just missed them but these are the only articles that I see credited to him

Thank you to @unintentionalarry @daysundercover and @conscious–ramblings for letting me ramble about this as I was finding these articles and helping me get my thoughts in order.

It starts with the Haylor narrative and his coverage of the MSG show. He covers Haylor at the beginning, picks it up again at MSG, and then reports the breakup.

After that he didn’t report on anything involving One Direction, not even Hendall or weedgate, until this March. He didn’t break the Louis pool kiss or Elounor breakup but he did write the article that named the girl, and her designer father.

In the pool girl article he had a couple of lines about Zayn leaving, but there was not a specific article about it. Until he wrote about Simon’s comments on Zayn leaving from his appearance on Corden in April. He has written a bunch of articles on Simon but this is the only one I saw that focused on One Direction

In May he mentioned Harry attending the Stones secret gig in LA. The headline clearly reference Harry but the article focuses on the Stones.

And then nothing again until July when he breaks the babygate story. He then has two more exclusives, including the first pap pics of B after the story broke with quotes from here ex Maxx about how great she is.

Since then he hasn’t reported on One Direction at all, not even to mention the hiatus or there recent promo in LA. Nothing. There are major stories that have broken in the past four years that you would think he would have reported on but he didn’t.

It is not new information that The Sun has been the mouthpiece for Syco and Simon but I never realized the role Pete Samson had served in pushing their preferred narrative. When I see it laid out it becomes very clear to me that his role has been to push the big het-narratives for Louis and Harry.

Nepotism in the music business and having sources that are close to you both personally and professionally is completely normal. But this takes it to a whole new level. The reporter that has written some of the biggest articles in the het-narratives for One Direction is married to the woman that is crafting the PR strategies for the band.

lemme just break down what just happened for you bc it’s wild.

people have been trying to figure out why that pic of louis looked weird and then someone realized that his hair was different lengths in the back. ann marie tompson, syco’s head of pr, had twins in december so people were speculating that they might be one of the kids louis is holding. and then we find out that louis’ hair was similar to that length in december, particularly there is a picture from the jingle ball on 12/4 that looks nearly identical. the day before jingleball, rbb posted a throwback of the bear as freddie mercury AND changed their profile picture to freddie mercury. not JUST freddie mercury though, freddie mercury in a crown. like royalty. reigning over people. like freddie reign.
