Actually, in Wisconsin you can't leave out words. At our school some students said the pledge on different days over the loudspeaker for the whole school and one said "under peace" instead of "under god" and two others just didn't say "under god" and our school got in a lot of trouble because it is in the State Constitution that you have to say the pledge every morning exactly as it is written.

UUuugggghhhhHH…one of the weird things about the U.S. is that every state has different rules so, of course, one never knows what their neighbors are making their children do…

You are allowed not to say it in Wisconsin, and honestly no one will notice if you personally don't say certain words. "No pupil may be compelled, against the pupil’s objections or those of the pupil’s parents or guardian, to recite the pledge or to sing the anthem.". As far as this case? The students misread the pledge, and no one really got in trouble for it, though some media blogs complained about it.

Hey! I'm kinda a tumblr noob so I can't reply to you in a way that only you can see. But I thought you could use a little help from someone who is going into their 4th year of Madison. Firstly, It's gonna be alright, yeah sometimes things are going to suck, you're going to have a bad quiz or a bad day. It happens to everyone. And I do mean everyone. 

On the 'most failed class'. I took that, I honestly think they try to scare people way way too much with that. It isn't that bad if you put in the time and the effort, the problem is that the first semester is hard for a lot of people. Adjusting to that freedom is hard and plenty of people react by going out and getting drunk. You don't have to do that, and social life is completely possible without it, since most of the campus doesn't really party all the time. If you're worried about it, talk to your TA go to office hours. Professors will do a lot for you and cut you some slack if they know you, and see you in lecture. 

On Money: If you haven't done the FAFSA go do it. Otherwise talk to these guys: http://finaid.wisc.edu/ , if you need to go meet with someone, or email. For me planning stuff like that helps to make me feel better overall. 

On fitness: I'm terrible about this persoally, and just started losing weight seriously this year. But let me tell you something: I lost weight during my freshman year. I walked to class, and that alone is going to help you a lot. Most of that freshman 15 is from drinking. If you don't do that, or at least not often it's not that 15 is pretty unlikely to hit you.
