Grineer engineers are hipsters, and screw propulsion fits them perfectly: low tech, amphibious, complete disregard for the environment.
It’s probably named some word corruption variant of Archimedes: Kimeda, Arkimera, Arkmeda?
Pseudo WIP, might return to give it some more details at a later date.
Rollerball Assassins weren’t effective enough, time to send in a fresh batch of Justice Drones!
WASP Pack is out! Check it out and pick it up!

I made the mesh for this!

even if it’s still a beta WIP feature, i’m so glad this feature becaame available before I have to close Mesa.
At least with the new SL-wide prim increase you’ll be able to bring back some semblance of it even with a homestead, if you wanted. ;_;
I don’t die so easy. A storm is brewing.
Doomed Ship
A relic from the days of SL past, Doomed Ship was the most atmospheric horror sim around. Now there’s nothing left but an empty, lonely shell on the mainland.

The amount of detail and atmosphere Sveid manages to cram into the sim is honestly inspirational to me. The amazing part is that it’s all pre-mesh&materials, and still looks amazing and immersive to this day.
Sadly it sits beneath the double edged sword of Adult content. on the one, having adult content makes it harder to advertise and showcase these amazing builds (fun story: first time i ever ventured there, I got lost and thought I had to use a teleporter to progress deeper into the build... it wasn’t a teleporter!). On the other, it tends to attract a lot of people who enjoy that stuff and forms a solid little community.
From what little i’m aware of events, it appears that the move to mainland required them to strip out the majority/all of the sexual elements, killing the appeal to that core part of its community.
I still try and visit occasionally in the hope Sveid has started to experiment with materials and mesh. It’s bittersweet to know that the theme of the build lets you be the only person on the region and still feel immersed in both the weaved and actual desolation of Doomed Ship.

Photos alone cannot do justice to the sim’s complexity, detail, and creativity.

definitely worth a read.
showing off how cool the Mesa 5 sim is. I think everyone should check it out!
As I mentioned a couple of weeks ago in some group notices, my region and home, Mesa 5, will be coming to a close on the 6th of November. It's something I've been contemplating on for a long time, and with recent changes in my real-life circumstances, I realise I can no longer support it. I will still maintain a presence in Second Life, but will be downscaling to a semi private Homestead region, where I hope to refocus my efforts on content creation.
Mesa has been a part of my life for countless years, and I've learnt so much from it, both in building/creation, and the social aspect of it. I have met so many wonderful people who have passed through Mesa, and learnt lots from them.
Thanks to all those that have supported us over the years, and for all the memories and experiences. I would greatly appreciate people taking screenshots/photos/videos before it ceases to exist.
Tomorrow for the Cyberz event! The Temple Collection 80cc ChopMaster! The only arm-mounted chainsaw in Second Life will be on sale tomorrow!
The saw comes with 6 kickass textures, and really works! Carve a swath through deadites, cyberdemons, or even trees with ni octane cutting power! A link and add will be posted tomorrow, so get hype!
Warning: advanced texturing can effect land impact
So I was all lah dee dah putting stuff in and changing textures, nothing new when all of a sudden I had things returned and I’m like, “wtf?”
I checked parcel details and I was down to 1 prim when I had only used 5 out of 28 I had before messing around. My first thought was two things: a griefer or an sl bug. There was one person nearby and they were apparently only on their own land. I relogged as my main (who owns the land I was on) to investigate further.
It turned out the prims I used for two cielings had skyrocketed from being 1 prim each to 42 each! I was totally flabberghasted. I checked what I could do and removing the advanced texturing sent them back down to 1.
So take this as a word of warning, if you want to do something big in advanced textures, keep in mind it effects land impact.
I’ll expand on this,
With the introduction of mesh, there are now 2 types of Land impact accounting, Legacy (the classic 1object = 1 prim count) and the new Mesh accounting system.
By default, prims and sculpts will use the legacy system, but changing certain prim properties, like physics shape, or adding materials like specular maps or normal maps, will change the entire linkset to Mesh accounting.
However in certain situations this can be an advantageous thing when using prims. if your prim linkset generally hasn’t got many/any sculpts or curved prims (spheres/cylinders/torii/tubes/rings), you may be able to get a lower land impact than legacy by setting the majority of the physics shapes to convex hull (and setting parts that will likely never be phsyically interacted with to none).
With Mesh accounting, the lowest land impact an object can be is 0.5, but this will only be effective if linked up, as land impact will always round to the nearest whole unit (which means you can be clever and have linksets with n.4 land impact that round down!)
Ich habe die "Second Life Science Fiction Convention" besucht, und sie war großartig.
