Spirits of All Kinds || Gabriel & Ignatius
When: June 2000 Where: Paphos (Cyprus) - A Lively BarWith: Gabriel @regretmedicineandsmokes
Paphos. Forever beautiful, forever fertile, and forever tinged with that distinct hint of ancient power- if power was the word for it, Ignatius honestly wasn’t sure. But the city had an aura too it that tapped into his love of history and (more immediately) his love of a good party. Iggy was twenty five and fleshed doctor’d- Well, he’d not had the graduation ceremony yet but he’d passed the viva and corrections were done, so he was as good as. And such a feat demanded celebration. So, with scarcely a mention to his father, sister or dear Uncle/Lawyer, he’d booked himself first class on the soonest plane and arrived to the warm morning of Cyrus.
And promptly headed out to the nearest bar. Of course, he’d learned some over his younger years and paced himself, plenty of good food and conversation with locals filled the day and he saw more than a few handsome men giving him the eye- this was far too beautiful a place to spend an evening in alone, after all. But it wasn’t till the evening faded to the night that fires were lit, drinks grew stronger and, best of all, live music kicked up and people began to dance.
He’d struck lucky finding a bar throwing some kind of party- the owners birthday (and his Greek had been enough to earn him a hearty welcome inside) so he was pretty far in and had just finished spinning a beautiful young lady around in a dance before half collapsing into a stool by the bar and ordered himself another drink. His white shirt was unbuttoned enough that most of his chest was on display, the sleeves were rolled up to the elbows and the labours of the day had him coated in a slight sheen of sweat, the embodiment of unbridled party spirit if he did say so himself. Turning to the figure next to him at the bar, he offered a blinding smile and spoke in Greek, his voice just tinged with that slacked edge that spoke of decent inebriation.
“A fine party! This- this is the reason we’re fun! Warmth, people, music, dancing-” he gestured grandly with each word, “This, is what it means to be alive! Living in the spirit of revelry!”
