IHMR XI - “Wk.1″ Werk

New release: [CD/Tape] WERK is a project from Manchester, started in 2014. Three core members + collaborators. Wk.1: the first of three releases, recorded together between 2014-2015. Drum-centric and improvisational. Live vocal processing, live drum processing, sampling, analogue synths, feedback manipulation, guitars. Started explicitly as a studio recording project, versions of, or sections of some tracks have been re-worked for live performance. Adam (drums) Edwin (guitars, vocals) & George (synths) previously played and recorded together as part of Elk Blood.

IHMR X — “Senior Mom Is Rock!” Cop Graveyard

New tape from Cop Graveyard.

COP GRAVEYARD is a semi-solo project of Eliot Humphreys, currently featuring drums and trumpet. The four-song EP, Senior Mom Is Rock! is about self deprecation, mental illness, dysfunctional relationships and humanism.

Eliot H and Andrew A wrote the songs, initially under the name A Winning Pair. When Andrew Didn't want to do it anymore, Eliot took the songs, changed the name and redid them (sort of). On this EP, Eliot played guitar, sung and wrote the lyrics / spoken bits. Mike J did the drums. Holly C did the trumpets. The EP was recorded, mixed and manufactured at IHMHQ, Manchester.

Eliot plays around Manchester and promotes shows as Cheesus Crust Records, and is committed to growing, or at least salvaging, a positive local DIY scene in the city.

IHMR XII — "Sonic Moist" USA Nails

We helped put this out recently.

Sonic Moist is the latest offering from USA Nails, a London kraut/punk band featuring members of Silent Front, KONG, Hawk Eyes, Oceansize. The ten tracks are full of atonal riffs and pummelling rhythms. The littering of Pissed Jeans references throughout reviews of USA Nails aren’t misplaced; when the band are in full-flow they have the same intense focus, single-mindedness. Oh Caroline gives the first respite of the record, a chugging ditty with lots of love. But in the most part, USA Nails are pissed, and totally brilliant.

Hand-designed and handmade inlay by the band, limited to 150. The tape is a co-release between IHMR and Unwork Records; The vinyl release is courtesy of Smalltown America.
