I was born and raised in Australia and am currently living with my parents and my younger brother in Sydney. English is the only language that we speak at home, but I started learning German when I was 15 because of a silly little video I saw on YouTube. I wanted to go on school exchange to Germany in 2015 when I was 17, but my plans unfortunately fell through, and I ended up staying in Australia and graduating high school at the end of 2016 without having stepped foot off the continent. Now, at the age of 19, I finally have the opportunity to go to Europe for the first time. I’ll be staying with a family in Düsseldorf for a year starting in July as an Au Pair, acting as an older sister to the children, helping them with their English, and being able to experience the culture and immerse myself in the language I’ve dedicated the last four years of my life to learning. I’m extremely excited about what awaits me, but I’m a little strapped for cash and can’t quite afford my flights. My parents are not willing to support me financially in my endeavours, and I’m afraid I might not be able to go if I can’t prove to them that I have sufficient funds to get myself there. Having spent the last 3 years providing free, easily accessible language learning resources and advice to an audience of almost 25,000 Tumblr followers, I would be infinitely grateful for any support, monetary or emotional, that anyone is willing to offer as a sign of appreciation for the work I have and will of course continue to put into my blog as I venture out into the big wide world. If you would like to support me by donating towards the cost of my flights to Germany, click here to be redirected to my fundmytravel campaign. EDIT: I didn’t realise that fundmytravel has a minimum donation of $10, so if you want to donate an amount less than $10 or you don’t have a credit card, you can also send me a donation via PayPal: [email protected] Even if you aren’t able to donate any money, you can still help me by reblogging this post to share it with as many people as possible. 🇦🇺 💛 🇩🇪
