will die on the hill of “dead dove: do not eat” DOES NOT MEAN “there are various unspecified things in here that might disturb you, so be warned”
it means “i know the contents of this bag (a dead dove) may be upsetting, so i have labeled the outside very clearly with what is inside (a dead dove), and if you look inside, you should not be surprised to find a dead dove, because that’s what the label very explicitly says is inside the bag”
i realize this is a losing battle because enough people have made it mean the other thing as to make the tag totally useless, but seeing people argue over what it should mean gives me a headache because it literally could not be clearer
purple vibes only.

its terrible for any number of reasons, but i think if we invent immortality there should be an extreme sport called civilizational speedrunning where teams of 20 go into the wilderness somewhere and try and be the fastest build the first internal combustion engine. i bet you could get it down to like 3 years tops
The real trick is to eat seed heavy food before the speedrun starts so your first poops are halfway to agriculture already
i want you on my team holy shit
My hot take about the TADC finale now that it's out is that Jax's backstory is not about making Jax more sympathetic but to teach the audience that your mental illness/baggage affects other people.
It's one of the most difficult pills to swallow as a mentally ill person, but a necessary one. Your mental illness and how you cope with it will affect other people. No matter how badly you think and want it to only affect you. No matter how centered around you your illness is, it will inevitable affect others.
Jax's baggage about questioning gender was entirely Jax's, but through how s/he coped with it, it affected Ribbit. Pushing it so far away s/he lashed out at Ribbit. Eventually leading to her abstraction, which in this episode was really lending itself to be a metaphor for suicide.
Jax's entire coping throughout the series (treating it as if it's not real/ a big deal) deeply affected other people. S/he was an asshole. Plain and simple. S/he was a terrible person to most of the cast, Pomni was the exception and only for a little bit.
Jax's own abstraction also deeply affected the rest of the cast, because that's what suicide does. No matter how selfishly you want it to be just about you, to go quietly, or that you're better off leaving because you're an asshole, it does affect others. Both those you were and weren't close to. Because you were around and now you're not, even if that does bring complicated feelings to the cast.
No one deserves abstraction/death. That is the whole point here. It's not about whether or not Jax was sympathetic, it's that Jax and by extension everyone, doesn't deserve that. And I don't think that should be a controversial thing to say no matter how bad Jax was. (There's a distinction I'm making between "don't care if" and "deserved.")
Gooseworx answered an ask forever ago and said the whole point about the show was how the worse thing you can do to someone is make them feel as if they didn't matter. (Not verbatim) And I think that finale lends to that them very well because of it.
Jax didn't think s/he mattered because nothing mattered. And that ultimately did Jax in. Ribbit was made to feel like she didn't matter and was ruined her friendship and that did her in. I'd wager a lot of the abstractions before the show was because the original coders felt like they didn't matter just because they couldn't fix the program, even though they did matter to Kinger and each other.

I've asked this question before and been surprised by the results, now I have access to more weirdos it's your problem:
It is the middle of a Sunday afternoon. You have nothing on, and aren't expecting visitors, deliveries or post.
Unexpectedly, there is a knock at the door.
Which of these would surprise you more to find on the doorstep?
Fairy
Walrus
Not naming options to skew votes but...
I think there's something fundamentally baffling with the way most of you think.
Happy birthday to this iconic poll
