one of my creative writing professors once said that to evaluate a work as good or not, first you ask what the work is attempting to do, and then you evaluate how well it does it. and this is how to judge everything from critical essays to romance novels to snack packaging to theory tracts.

I miss when ads were a single click and then they’re gone. Now every ad has a minimum of three phases where you watch a video, exit the still frame of fake gameplay, and then exit the app download. That doesn’t even touch on the ones that forcibly take you to another app after opening a tab in safari without you ever touching the screen.

I hate advertising. I hate that you can’t do anything without companies jumping down your throat with mostly bullshit ads. I hate that billboards exist. I hate that every company unanimously decided to make their ads longer and longer. I hate that ad blockers try to charge you money and there are in app purchases to remove ads. I hate that my attention has become commodified. I hate that there’s nothing I can do about it.

We analyzed LGBTQ people’s perspectives on police participation in LGBTQ Pride events using data from the Policing the Rainbow study, the first nationally representative survey examining LGBTQ people’s experiences with and perceptions of the police. Respondents were asked to indicate the extent to which they agreed or disagreed with the following statement: “Police should participate in LGBTQ Pride events to show their support.” [...] The Policing the Rainbow survey was fielded in August 2022 through NORC’s AmeriSpeak Panel. The survey used a stratified, multistage probability sample of households in the United States, was administered in both English and Spanish, and was designed to be representative of approximately 97% of U.S. households. A total of 1,598 respondents completed the survey, yielding a response rate of 27.1%. The sample was constructed to produce representative groups of LGBTQ and non-LGBTQ adults. While both LGBTQ and non-LGBTQ respondents shared perspectives on police participation at Pride events, this research brief focuses exclusively on the perspectives of LGBTQ respondents (n = 798).

I actually want to thank the diabetics coming on this post like "actually it genuinely is a great treatment for diabetes and it hasn't affected my mood or my enjoyment of food. The real issue is it's getting abused as a weight loss drug which also makes it scarce and more expensive for those who can genuinely benefit from it." To flesh this out a little bit more: both Megan Thee Stallion and Hozier write and sing really sexual songs, but they’re different in that Hozier’s music is typically “let me worship you” while Megan’s is usually “I’m worshipping myself,” which makes all the difference because it’s an acceptance of power rather than the giving of it. He’s the sinner, she’s the saint. However, taking their difference in genres out of it, people don’t usually seem to take Megan Thee Stallion’s music seriously in comparison to Hozier because a) her lyrics are more overtly and blatantly sexual and b)she’s claiming her sexuality for herself, and that scares a lot of people. The secret, no-one-wants-to-talk-about reason is that she’s a confident black woman, which terrifies people way than sex does. In conclusion, Hozier and Megan Thee Stallion are two sides of the same poetic, sexual coin, but people just don’t want to admit it. Which is WHY a collaboration between Hozier and Megan would be so powerful that it would change the timeline as we know it yes I will elaborate
