Watch: Brian Yu’s heartbreaking poem will strike anyone with students loans to the core.
Relatable. I've been a slave to the system since 2000 at 18 years of age. I haven't been able to pay my loans off because the jobs and money aren't there.

I’m not where I need to be, but thank god I’m not where I used to be.

Amen to this. 🙏🏻
Billions of young voters are realizing that it’s time.
Reblog and share this video with a friend.
Had a really good friend tag me in this post today and it resonated with me deeply. I was given an opportunity to come to Miami and have a second chance. It's a complete clean slate. What I do with this opportunity is entirely up to me. Not everyone will be offered what was presented to me and I wake up everyday #grateful and #thankful to be here by the grace and generosity of an incredibly wonderful friend. In #Vegas, I was lost and forgot who I was even though I was seemingly "stable." I wasn't. This chance at a fresh start, to redirect my life, to build myself up, and figure out who I am and what I want is everything and I'd have been a fool to not do this! Do I know what the next day looks like? No. Do I know where I'll be in a month? Not at all. I should feel more lost than ever, but I don't. I don't know where I'll end up, but this journey so far is amazing. I can feel it in my bones I'm on the right path. I've got #faith in God and myself for the first time in a long time. I know that I'm exactly where I need to be. I'm growing in leaps and bounds. I'm trusting in myself and listening to my intuition. I am so alive for the first time since I can remember. Destination unknown, but where I'll end up is beyond my wildest dreams. #notallwhowanderarelost #lost #onmyway #trustyourjourney #onedayatatime #takechance #leap #justdoit #noregrets #igetbywithalittlehelpfrommyfriends #destinationunknown #wherethewilsthingsare #noregrets #confidence #adventure #miamilife
My journey in #selflove isn't just saying positive affirmations, snapping photos of my fat ass for the interwebs, or posting inspirational quotes. It's digging into deep rooted beliefs of self-hate. I'm working on my chakras as a spiritual path, starting with the root chakra -which deals with grounding, stability, security, and the like (all foreign concepts to me). I posted a picture of me and my belly fat the other day with eye makeup running down my face. What you don't know about that photo is that I came face-to-face with a demon that tells me I'm not worthy of anything: love, kindness, success, happiness. I sat on the beach that day and cried. I came clean to myself that I've always felt like I wasn't worth a damn. I cried and mourned all the things I didn't partake in or take advantage of because I didn't I didn't feel like I was good enough or worthy enough or deserving. It's always been hard for me to receive or accept things because why would anyone every want to do anything nice for me... It was a tough pill to swallow, but I let it all out and a huge weight was lifted off of me. Self-love is about embracing the good, the bad, and the ugly. I am learning my demons, staring them in the face, and acknowledging them. They are part of me and have molded me. I'm just not letting them win anymore. I'm not letting these demons rule my life nor will I let fear dictate my decisions. Things are always way worse in my overly anxious mind. And so far, I've gotten through 100% of my terrible, awful, no damn good days. Maybe someone will read this and will/can relate. You're not alone. It's hard work beating yourself up day after day. Hiding. Pretending. Lying to yourself. Today and everyday, I remind myself: "I approve of myself exactly as I am." Because I do. And I'm fucking worth it! Who I am is enough. These are also tough pills to swallow because it's a new way of thinking, but it's oh, so much easier digest. Namaste. 🙏🏻😘✨💗
Reminder.
Next Chapter
Officially starting the redesign of my life. Today felt heavy. I've given up everything. My job, my home, my kitties, my bed. Everything is gone. The kitties will come eventually, but as of right now, I'm technically homeless, jobless, car-less, you name it - pretty sure I don't "own" one anymore. I wish I had more money saved up, but I don't. It's the most liberating feeling. I'm not bound to anyone or anything. I belong to myself. Just me. Every once in awhile panic and fear overwhelm me, but I know that's a whole lot of nothing causing nonsense. I am capable and I am worthy. Almost time to grab Miami by the fucking balls. ;) Needless to say, in this moment, right now, I feel so #alive.
I fucking love you Jes Baker!
Amen! 🙏🏿

Love
It's not often in life we get a chance to confront someone from our past; someone who was wronged us. This past weekend, after going to church for the first time in years, I got this very opportunity. This man was verbally and physically abusive to me as a teenager: threatened me, aided in having me committed to a mental institution and eventually sent to "boarding school" for troubled teens. Someone who shattered my world as a teenager (we all know how peachy fucking keen those years are). Here I was in a huge church, thinking I was anonymous. But there he sat, deep in prayer, hands raised to God. It had been about 13 years since the last time I saw him. And then the floodgates of my mind opened. Do I run? Do I approach him? Do I barrage him? Do I scream? Do I cry? As the offering bowl went around and we would be face-to-face, I said, "Hi Stranger" and his eyes lit up and he recognized me instantly, "Jessica." I gave a faint smile. Here I was, faced with this man. This monster. This villain. The wheels in my head spinning, full speed. My mind raced. Palms sweating. I didn't know if I should cry or scream. Mostly, I felt numb. Indifferent. As service wrapped up, I took a deep breath, and approached him. Within a minute into the conversation, he grabbed my hand, looked me in the eye, and asked for my forgiveness for his mistreatment of me. I began to cry, was this really fucking happening? "I was just a little girl, I was just 16. I was angry with you for a very long time. There are issues that stem from your mistreatment. I know I've wronged people. I know I've made mistakes. I forgive. You're forgiven." I could have yelled at this man. I could've tried to hurt him. Or nit-picked or been a total cunt, but what good would that have served? He was here, by himself, in this church. (He was never a religious man.) No one turns to God because their life is perfect. People often seek God when they're low, broken, defeated, destroyed, lost... Here he stood before me. Asking for forgiveness. He didn't have to ask for it, he could have skirted around the issue, he could have ran, he could have played the blame game, but he didn't. How fortunate am I that I got this closure? That I received an apology? Very much so, it's nothing more than divine intervention. My faith in God has been renewed. I feel release and I feel closure.
Transforming into Candid
I want to be more transparent. More open. More honest. More real. About me. Who I am. What I feel. What I think.
Sometimes, we have distance ourselves from the people we love because their negativity and disarray can only damage and harm us.
My light shines so brightly. I don’t need anyone chipping away at me. Fucking with my foundation because I love myself. Only I can love myself. Only I can heal me. Only I can save me. I can be my own best friend or nightmare. No one else can define me. No one else make me feel how I choose to feel.
Others try and hurt us because misery loves company. Others hurt us because all they know is hurt. All they know is their own personal hell. How can you love, when you don’t love yourself, when you’ve never been properly loved.
The wall I’ve built around me is coming down and I won’t let someone in their own hell, in their own pain, in their own suffering, in their own tragedy fuck with me… Ever again.
I am whole. I am well. I am happy. I am loved. I am me.
What's simple is true.
