Just when Beth thought she would actually get to have her lunch break on time for once this week, she was informed that there was a ‘175′ (disorderly conduct) called in from Shoppers. And it just so happened she was the closet to the store. Sighing, she informed them that she was on her way before making a U-turn and heading to the store. Once inside it quickly became apparent who had caused the store to call 911. A woman appeared to be very angry about something and had displayed that by knocking things over and throwing objects.
“What’s going on here?” Hopefully the presence of a police officer would be enough to sedate the angry woman.
“We told her that she needed to have a receipt to prove that she purchased this item from the store. She failed to show us a receipt and before I know it she’s throwing shit everywhere.”
she’s fuming. got the prettiest boots on sale and they were in her size, but somehow even though she’d tried the left one on, when she got home the right one was too tight. so she’d brought ‘em back. she’s been good lately ( to an extent ) and money was tight, every penny counts. maybe she lost her temper when they told her no, and she huffs, when they mention it again.
her hand is already in her purse, fingers idly gripping the handle of her favorite knife ----she isn’t necessarily planning to use it ( public place, nina, too many witnesses ), but it’s habit, almost a comfort to her, to hold onto it ----and she sometimes doesn’t even realize she’s doing it.
‘ no one else sells these damn boots, asshole, why the fuck would i need the receipt ? ’
she should probably calm down, now that the law has arrived, but her fuse is already lit and she can’t get a handle on it now. so of course, instead of calming down, speaking rationally to the cop that just showed up, nina does the opposite ----she taunts her.
‘ ----and what are you gonna do ? arrest me ? over some boots ? ! ’
