Because I am a fancy person trapped in a poor person’s life I’m always looking for something to class up my existence. Tonight I decided the plastic spoon I eat my breakfast with had to go, so I spent an hour googling fancy spoons. Then I remembered my mom used to steal silverware from restaurants — trés classy — and I found this spoon from United Airlines in her collection of purloined cutlery. Relic of a bygone era! Mysterious souvenir from an adventure passed! Nice shape, size, and heft! Perfect length to catch every last bite of overnight oats! FREE!! Finally got around to doing the holiday thing. It’s not as fancy as I’ve been doing for the past several years, but it still checks all the boxes. Roasted carrots and parsnips, red potatoes, stuffing, smoked turkey legs and gravy (store bought, no shame). Took this picture during a break the other day — I don’t know why. I guess I wanted to know if I looked as tired as I felt. I haven’t been sleeping very well — too anxious to fall asleep, too restless to stay asleep, too exhausted not to fall asleep on the couch. Lather, rinse, repeat. Today I did rainbow paper with my kids — little pieces of black paper that you submerge in water and then drop clear nail polish onto to get an oil slick effect. If fact, the rainbow on the black paper and the rainbow on an oily puddle are both caused by the same phenomenon. And now for something completely unrelated to budget cuts: Anybody spot what’s wrong here? Neither did I. There are supposed to be 12 pattern repeats, and I managed to miss one for a total of 11— meaning I’m short 20 stitches, which means the next part of the pattern doesn’t work, which means I have to start from scratch 😭 Hours of work down the drain. HOWEVER: I have learned a lot by getting to this point in the pattern, so the next iteration will be a better finished product.
