LAYER 001 :    THE OUTSIDE .

NAME  :      gwendolyn  émilie  leclair .

EYE   COLOUR  :      hazel .

HAIR   STYLE   /   COLOUR  :      long  and  wavy ,    a  chestnut  brown  with  soft  highlights .

HEIGHT  :      5′7 .

CLOTHING   STYLE  :      very  diverse .     she  loves  being  more  fashion  forward  and  wearing  patterned   dresses ,     checkered  skirts ,    cute  two  piece  suits ,   etc .     but  she  can  also  often  be  seen  wearing  high  waisted  jeans  and  hoodies .     mostly  wears  sneakers .

BEST   PHYSICAL   FEATURE  :      probably  her  smile .     it’s  just  really  bright  and  cute .     a  smile  that  makes  you  want  to  smile  too .    

LAYER 002 :    THE  INSIDE.

FEARS  :      the  fear  of  growing  insane  like  her  mother ,      the  fear  of  being  abandoned  by  those  she  loves .     

GUILTY   PLEASURE  :      there’s  very  little  gwen  does  that  she  would  consider  a  guilty  pleasure  because  she  owns  everything  she  does ,     but  probably  watching  romantic  movies  and  eating  an  obscene  amount  of  sweet  snacks  while  crying  her  eyes  out . 

BIGGEST   PET   PEEVE  :      people  that  don’t  try .    who  give  up  at  the  slightest  gust  of  wind .

AMBITIONS   FOR   THE   FUTURE  :      if  she  were  to  have  a  future ,    probably  something  like  being  an  art  or  music  teacher .    maybe  a  trainer  at  camp  half  blood .     the  thing  is ,    she  stopped  having  ambitions  for  the  future  when  juliette  died ,    knowing  she  was  probably  not  going  to  have  one  after  her  revenge  was  taken .     she’s  never  really  thought  about  having  a  family . 

LAYER 003 :   THOUGHTS.

FIRST   THOUGHTS   WAKING   UP  :     that  the  sun  feels  bright  on  her  face .    a  prayer  to  her  father  for  a  day  filled  with  light  and  energy . 

WHAT   THEY   THINK   ABOUT   MOST  :      her  friends  and  family .     how  she  needs  to  train .    

WHAT   THEY   THINK   ABOUT   BEFORE   BED  :      if  she’s  doing  enough ,   if  her  choices  are  the  right  ones ,     what  her  life  will  be  like  after . 

WHAT   THEY   THINK   THEIR   BEST   QUALITY   IS  :      her  loyalty  and  kindness . 

LAYER 004 :    WHAT’S BETTER ?

SINGLE   OR   GROUP   DATES  :      single .

TO   BE   LOVED   OR   RESPECTED  :      to  be  loved .

BEAUTY   OR   BRAINS  :      she  appreciates  both .    it’s  not  something  she  looks  for  at  first .    personality  matters  most  to  her .   

DOGS   OR   CATS  :      dogs ,    but  she  loves  cats  a  lot  too .  

LAYER 005 :    DO THEY…

LIE  :      she  has  to ,    but  she  doesn’t  like  it . 

BELIEVE   IN   THEMSELVES  :      it  depends  on  the  day .

BELIEVE   IN   LOVE  :      wholeheartedly . 

WANT   SOMEONE  :      depends  on  the  timeline . 

LAYER 006 :    HAVE THEY EVER…

BEEN   ON   STAGE  :      various  talent  shows  were  won  by  her .    she  also  goes  to  juilliard  when  she’s  older  and  she  has  been  known  to  perform  at  a  couple  of  their  showcases . 

DONE   DRUGS  :      never  felt  the  need  to . 

CHANGED   WHO   THEY   WERE   TO   FIT   IN  :      when  she  was  younger .    mostly  to  fit  in  with  her  found  family .    she  dyed  her  hair  blonde  once  because  most  of  her  half  siblings  have  blonde  hair  and  she  wanted  to  be  apart  of  that .    eventually  she  learned  she  was  amazing  just  the  way  she  is  and  stopped  trying  to  fit  in  so  hard . 

LAYER 007 :    FAVOURITES.

FAVOURITE   COLOURS  :      yellows ,    greens  and   pinks . 

FAVOURITE   ANIMAL  :      dolphins  and  elephants .    she  loves  how  they’re  kind  animals . 

FAVOURITE   BOOK  :      reading  is  very  difficult  for  her  because  of  her  brain  being  hardwired  for  ancient  greek ,    so  she  has  never  been  able  to  focus  her  attention  on  finishing  a  book . 

FAVOURITE   GAME  :      capture  the  flag .      

LAYER 009 :    FINISH THE SENTENCE.

I LOVE  :      fully  and  without  doubt . 

I FEEL  :      taken  for  granted .  

I HIDE  :      my  heart  ache .

I MISS  :       my  mom’s  lullabies  and  juliette’s  blue  eyes .

I WISH  :      to  lessen  the  hurt .

gwendolyn spends five years of her life training herself bloody so she can take revenge on alec lyle when the time comes.  she hits this point when she’s twenty years old and she spends that entire year hunting him across the country.  it ends with both of them dying on the edge of a sword.  when gwendolyn awakens in the underworld,  she is granted the option of rebirth for a shot at the isles of the blest.  she takes it and is reborn in the united kingdom as a girl named phoebe dayton.  she spends sixteen years of her life blissfully unaware of her time as a demigod,  until one night she wakes up from what felt like a fever dream.  faces she did not know plagued her dreams onwards,  a sense of realness accompanying every scene.  these faces don’t stay contained to her dreams though and soon she sees them in her waking hours.   quick flashes and hallucinations that cause a stabbing headache not even painkillers can lessen.  that spring she travels to france with her class and during an outing she gets separated from the group and stumbles on an abandoned mansion overgrown by weeds and plants.  inside she finds a man.  his face screams of familiarity and she tells him she’s seen him in her dreams before.  the more she tells him,  the more he is convinced that this girl was somehow related to gwendolyn.  she convinces him to help her get these memories to make sense of the images in her head and they go on a quest to find a way to do so.  somewhere along the way,  they stumble upon the goddess hestia who gives them pandora’s jar and tells phoebe she will know what to do when the time is right.  despite having no clue of what the goddess means,  phoebe listens and keeps it safe as they travel ahead.  their journey leads them to morpheus’s cave where they ask for his assistance.  he refuses to help them and it as that moment that phoebe feels an overwhelming urge that it’s time to open the jar, hestia’s face blurring together with those of the ghosts of a life she does not remember.  as she collapses to the ground from the piercing pain in her head,  she begs her travel companion to open the jar and release what was inside.  her plea is answered with hesitation until her voice and eyes morph into a girl long gone.  the jar is opened and hope escapes.  it latches itself onto her and when the bright light fades away in phoebe’s place is now gwendolyn.  her memories flood back to her and she remembers the man before her to be her best friend.  she remembers everything.  it is then she realizes that by opening pandora’s jar,  she was now hope’s vessel,  making her the goddess of hope.  she returns to the mansion with her old friend and they make it their home, helping demigods on their quests whenever they were to stumble upon the building,  which seemed to show up wherever it was needed.  she was now both gwendolyn leclair and phoebe dayton.  a mixture of two lives lived.   a goddess of her own making.

how do you do it, they wonder? how do you hold all these imperfections inside you without rotting at the core? how can you manage to bleed so beautifully, break so thoroughly, and feel so deeply, but not simply drown under the weight of it all? how are you capable of looking death in the eye, and not blinking a lid? how is it that you keep going forward, when you have nowhere to go? how do you do all of this? ah, well, that’s no secret. it’s because they’re so incredibly familiar. you’ve known all of these things since you were born. the taste of blood is like a second saliva in your mouth. your skin has bruised so much, and your bones have cracked so often, the pain is just second nature to you now. so many things have slipped from your hands, yet still you choose to hold onto what you can. oh, what an utterly tragic, yet beautiful thing it is— to be so very, truly, undeniably human.
