Time Out
Hey y'all. Sit down, take a deep breath, and remind yourself of this:
Writing is hard.
Writing is hard, yo. You are doing something that a great number of people would never even consider, and you’re doing it because you want to. Because you have something to say. And it’s hard, it’s so damn hard, but it’s worth it, because you’re doing it.
And hey, maybe it’s not your best work. Maybe you’re still struggling, a lot. But writing is hard, and the fact that you’re doing it at all says volumes.
For the Reading by Drop And Give Me Nerdy
I write stories to entertain not to be the best.
Lemony Snicket (via psliterary)
My ambition in life is to be read—that is why I write.
When I write something I usually think it is very important and that I am a very fine writer. I think this happens to everyone. But there is one corner of my mind in which I know very well what I am, which is a small, a very small writer. I swear I know it. But that doesn’t matter much to me. … The important thing is to be convinced that this really is your vocation, your profession, something you will do all your life.
Natalia Ginzburg (via daywhite)
If it’s not worth fucking reading, it’s not worth fucking writing. If it doesn’t make people laugh or cry or blow their fucking minds then why bother?
Matt Haig

Break It Up
It’s OK to take a writing break. It’s OK to give yourself time to think about what you’re writing, to process notes, to let it circulate inside you like your blood. Don’t be afraid to take a day or a few days to just think. Or not think, and let it come to you. It’s OK.
Writing is a hard business, but nothing makes you feel better.
Ernest Hemingway (via quotemadness)
Write, write, write, motherfucking write. Write better today than you did yesterday and better tomorrow than you did today. Onward, fair penmonkey, onward. If you’re not a writer, something will stop you — your own doubts, hate from haters, a bad review, poor time management, a hungry raccoon that nibbles off your fingers, whatever. If you’re a writer, you’ll write. And you’ll never stop to look back.
Chuck Wendig: Freelance Penmonkey
Writing is hard work, not magic. It begins with deciding why you are writing and whom you are writing for. What is your intent? What do you want the reader to get out of it? What do you want to get out of it. It’s also about making a serious time commitment and getting the project done.
