WHERE: His Farm in Wilma WHEN: October 2024 WITH: Open to All
Tilly cradled the phone between her shoulder and ear, her voice dropping to a low, conspiratorial whisper as she glanced out the window at the dreary gray sky. "I’m telling you, Brenda, he’s barely been gone a month, and she’s already listing the house. The one they built together, can you believe it?” She sighed dramatically, tracing a finger along the dusty windowsill. “I don’t care if he’s ‘in rehab’—people don’t bounce back from things like that overnight. And with how quick she’s been moving, you’d think she’d been planning this.” Tilly’s lips pursed as she watched a lone leaf skitter down the empty street, feeling the weight of the season’s chill. “Well, if you ask me, the leaves aren’t the only things dropping around here.”
he sets down the cup of hot cappuccino, warming him from within where he sits outside of the café to catch the last sun rays before fall would mold into winter. his drink is almost empty and he’d have to get another one in a minute if he wants to get through finishing this report before … uh– before sitting on it forever probably. will’s hand finds his eye, rubbing at the corner of it, moving on to his temple there. the lamest part of the job ; to find the right words to summarize all that happened. especially lame with the tea being served by the lady slowly passing by. not tea in a classic sense … but the story was intriguing. much more intriguing than the report about his encounter with yet another small town criminal from a few weeks ago. “ neighborhood drama, huh ? “ he glances over once the woman hung up. “ sounds pretty dramatic over there. “
“Oh shit.”
Chi's debating on if she wants to go at this with a documenter lense: You know—observe and don't interact with the space like that. Though, it's only one cheek chew in before she immediately ditches that mentality and swoops right over with the remains of her own napkins.
“Um—I hear cold water works best with stains like that. Not that it's blood, but you know, similar color, and—yeah. You get the idea.” It's an awful thing to ramble about while giving fucked up napkins, but she digresses. “Also,” She then held up her jacket as an offering. “Me personally, I'd like…make the craziest tiktok about this. Celebs kinda dig that pity.”
she pushes back her chair to get up and see the full extend of the stain. staff is rushing back and forth, probably to provide more napkins than the ones on the table but … the girl from a table close by is quicker. not that the crumpled serviette really does much where seren presses it to his outfit to soak up at least some of the wine. humiliating … especially considering it wasn’t her own fault. “ thanks. “ she sighs dramatically, obviously frustrated when she can only watch the stain grow in size.
“ this is so … stupid. what would a tiktok possibly do about it ? “ but regardless of the defiance in her voice, seren takes the jacket from the girl to wrap it around her shoulders. at least people seem to return to their dinners and a waitress is offering bringing a cloth. as if that would safe anything.
Shelby had, unfortunately, been in this exact situation several times before. She had a habit of being pretty clumsy when she was drinking, so she had been known to spill on herself. Being a girl's girl, she was quick to make her way over to the younger woman. "Can I get some club soda, please?" Shelby asked the nearest waitstaff. "You're going to need it to get that out. Here, take this," she said, offering her an extra napkin. "Blot away as much as you can."
foreign hands land on her and seren is half a second away from adding another act to the scene she’s causing but … when those hands offer help and when the voice attached to those hands offer has useful advise she– manages to keep her tongue. “ ugh, thanks … “ mutters through gritted teeth and takes the napkin to do as she’s told ( for once huh … ? ) – “ my blouse is ruined … crap. what now ?! what’s with the soda ? “
𓂅 𐫱 ❛ “ well , that looked rather unfortunate , ” the man remarked , head shaking slightly . he'd never actually seen someone get wine thrown at them , despite the fact that he'd worked in a bar for quite some time . “ a little too dramatic for my taste if you ask me , though , ” he told her . “ what'd you do to piss her off , hmm ? she looked so furious . ” he wasn't really one for offering sympathy , hence the reason for his generally unhelpful commentary .
dinner would have to be cut short with a necessary trip home before work. with a napkin in one hand, pulling the fabric of her clothing with the other, seren makes an effort to soak up the liquid but … it doesn’t really do enough. a part of her doesn’t even want to look up, doesn’t want to look at him– at his annoying face that’d surely be nothing but smug. “ so helpful, ryan. “ cynicism in her voice when she gives up with the napkin eventually. “ i don’t even know what her problem was, i– … “ trails off in frustration when her gaze finally meets his. “ why do you care ?! “
last night had been rough and to top it off he'd failed to get a good nights sleep. his free hand rest on his face, fingers rubbing the sleep from his eyes as the other held his phone to his ear. " hey. nothing much, i was going to go on a hot date but turns out i have to have a hot date to do that. " jack leaned back against the counter, coffee brewing to his right. he had no plans, none what so ever but he knew if he didn't do something then he'd be restless. " i might go to the gym but i don't want to. why? what are you doing? want to grab lunch or something? "
maybe that’s why they started getting along so well initially. same brain in a different body ? both of them blinking at the day with a lazy eye … the corners of his mouth curl up, chuckling echoes through the phone though it dies within a few seconds. “ i mean … i’d probably pass as a hot date so– guess you got lucky. “ fingertips dance over the fabric of joggers, picking at it mindlessly. “ we can hit the gym together. reward ourselves with dinner after ? they have sushi all you can eat at that wasabi place. “
✦ ・a nod was given towards the other woman, her smile not disappearing as she tried to keep the vibe as a welcoming one. “ no worries ! let me know if you need any help, okay ? ” she promised, shoving a book in its new place. slowly, cel was unpacking new inventory. it was tedious sometimes, but her organization was important. she looked over to the windows, eyes squinting a bit as a reaction to the rain. “ it has gotten pretty bad out there, wow. any idea of when it'll calm down ? ”
she should make an attempt to browse at least, not just stand by the door but … the lack of sleep is catching up and the coldness settling into her bones isn’t helping either. seren’s arms close around her own frame together, trying to keep the last bits of body heat captured. “ uh … no. no idea. “ her gaze wanders out the window too. “ could last all day the way it’s pouring right now. “ which is why she should probably be extra grateful the shop owner hasn’t kicked her out despite the lack of effort to take a look at the books. “ thanks … “ she mumbles from behind a tight jaw. “ any chance you got something hot to drink ? “
𓂅 𐫱 ❛ ryan could tell something was on his mind, it didn't take an expert to be able to deduce that. people who were fine didn't peel at bottles of beer, after all. “ don't we all ? ” he countered, arching a brow. it wasn't like he visited the bar for the environment and socialization options. he went when he had to work, and went when he wanted to drink. eyes rolled at his attempt at making a joke, head shaking slightly. he tsked, gaze fixating on will once more. “ we both know i'm the best bartender this place has. ” he was confident in his abilities, and nothing anyone said would ever change that. of course, he knew the other was merely teasing, but his thought process remained the same.
“ don’t know, man … “ will isn’t done pushing, isn’t done glancing over with half a smirk crowning his lips. “ you served me lukewarm beer before. still not sure you weren’t trying to get me for something with that one … “ but he ends up laughing it off anyway. laughs it off because ryan is his friend and this feels the most fucking normal things have felt in a while. a sip of the beer is taken as the laughter dies down and will takes a deep breath, blowing it out in a heavy sigh. “ i’m not gonna add to that. this shit is getting depressing. we need to drink more or one of us is going to cry on our way home. “
𓂅 𐫱 ❛ navigating the world of dating was no simple task, but she remained persistent in her endeavor to find someone for herself. initially, she found the concept of dating apps to be a little strange, but she gave it a shot regardless. she had some pretty bad dates, admittedly, but some weren't too bad. once she learned how to properly handle the apps, she'd gotten the hang of it. carly had taken some time off from trying to find someone while still adjusting to her move to oregon, but she'd since settled nicely into the quaint little town, and decided it was time to try it out again. the first date nerves were present, a feeling she doubted would ever go away, no matter how many dates she'd been on. she hadn't been the most lucky in love, but she was determined to continue trying. she couldn't just give up after some bad dates, she had the spirit of a fighter. she wanted to do something different, hence, the idea of a cooking class came to fruition. she'd never done anything of the sort previously, so things were already interesting to her. she'd been waiting outside the area, attempting to calm her nerves to no avail. a warm smile spread across her lips as she looked at the man in question, relieved to discover she had not been catfished by anyone. “ yeah, that's me. nice to meet you, will. ”
a sense of relief washes over him which feels silly for a moment. he’d seen pictures of her before. now, with her here with him, the slight fear of anything about the pictures being fake feels a little dumb, feels irrational almost even though– will is not naive enough not to have that slight bit of anxiety before every first date. ugh. that just makes him sound like a date-hopper. the thought goes ignored for the sake of answering her gaze with his own. warm brown eyes, much warmer than his own. a soft voice, a sweet smile that makes the corners of his mouth twitch in response. “ pleasure is all mine. shall we go in ? “ because sparking a conversation with somebody who is mostly a stranger is at least somewhat less awkward when their hands are busy. busy with making a meal. busy with making a meal which they would share …
will holds the door for her and once jackets were brushed off and they are given their aprons, he offers, “ need help tying yours ? “ which … perhaps, too much too soon– but then again, anything to break the ice … right ?
✦ ・as soon as will walked in, her smile only brightened. “ will, hi ! ” she exclaimed, having finished displaying a new novel atop one of the tables in the middle of the shop. it had fall decor littered around it, trying to fit the aesthetic of the season. she was very into it and might've gone a little too overboard, but she did not care. “ i absolutely drink cappuccino ! ” a hand happily reached for the cup, it being brought to her lips as a sip was taken. “ i needed this, ” she mused, content by the taste and the kind gesture. “ looking for a book, huh ? hm, ” she tapped at her chin, looking around the store for a suggestion to randomly pop up. “ any particular genre you're feeling ? ”
“ see– remembered your order just like that. “ will chuckles and glances down the the cup still in his hand. he feels his shoulders relaxing from tension that’s been sitting there for days and weeks even. the magic of … perhaps just this small service of friendship being recognized and appreciated. it is why he loves to come here, why he seeks celeste’s presence when he can. here ? in the full moon bookshop none of the bloody images and energy-sucking meetings matter. here, reality doesn’t matter. not for a few minutes at least. “ mm, yes and no ? “ will’s gaze finally finds hers again, smirking just a little. “ i’m trying to give it to somebody as a gift and … really have no idea what she’d like to be honest. “
“ hey man. “ will sinks lower into the couch– partially from exhaustion and partially because … of laziness. still digging for a reason to get up and do something productive with his day. that reason, hopefully, being jack and potential plans he could join. if his friend was up to it … “ what’s new ? “ phone pressed to his ear. the temptation of just staying here until his day off is over. mm. “ long time, no see. let’s change that ? what are you up to day ? “ @f1cklehrt
jensen sat there, she sat there and watched him rub his temples. what was going on with him? a headache the brunette thought to herself. rubbing her temples was something she did when she had a headache. taking a deep breath, jensen was getting lost within her thoughts as well. shrugging her shoulders she shook her head and opened her mouth to speak "i was saying that hangovers are a bitch, especially when you have tequila in your shot. it's the worst thing to swallow." tilting her head, sitting up a minute jensen smiled softly "you need anything for that headache of yours?"
tequila coming up again has him scrunching up his nose in brief disgust. will decides to drown it in a sip of coffee before sinking lower into his chair again. ugh. perhaps he’d never be ready for tequila again. “ yeah … definitely the worst. and worse than that. “ he agrees. jensen’s offer is met with half a smile. it doesn’t quite reach his eyes. how could it when his head is still pounding. “ i mean … sure– if ya got anything i’ll take it. any ibuprofen in your wallet or something ? “
Sebastian shook his head as he looked at the other who seemed to be struggling with the choices that they made the night before. "Oh wow.. I guess someone was a little bit too thirsty on thirsty Thursday?" He asked him as he chuckled a bit, making sure to keep the sound down as much as he could because he knew what the other was going through because he had been through it many times himself. "Don't worry about it. I don't want you to hurl." He explained.
“ i’m fine. “ will waves him off– obviously not very fine when he feels a heavy sigh escape from between his lips. body feels heavy, mind heavier but … coffee might just be the one thing to help now, right ? fingers curl around the mug to bring it towards his face and take a small sip. he half burns the tip of his tongue in the process but finds himself too exhausted to react to it much. “ man … it’s been a long night. fuck knows why i thought tuesday night was as good as any to get wasted … though i kinda wanna know why you weren’t out there getting messy too. “
𓂅 𐫱 ❛ a look of concern presented itself on her features as she studied her companion, head canting slightly. it was abundantly clear to carly that he'd been through it, no words were necessary to convey that to her. perhaps she was quite foolish to attempt to strike up any sort of conversation with him to begin with, because it was quite obvious that he was in no position to be having one. a small frown formed on her lips as she looked him over, feeling genuinely sorry for the man. “ yeah, “ she noted, nodding. “ i can tell. “ were her words a little too blunt ? she certainly hoped not. “ that's not really all that important, “ carly told him, brushing off her own story. “ you just look like you could use some company right now. maybe someone you can vent to or something. i promise i won't judge. “
they’d been on a couple of dates by now – the early awkwardness of online dating starting to fade but … not yet faded enough for him not to feel mildly embarrassed about the state he’s in. too soon ? too early for her to find out just how much of a wreck he could be on a bad day ? mm– probably. “ it’s fine. it’s … “ nothing. nothing but years and years of emotional scars on top of other emotional scars which he chooses to ignore until … always. warm ( but tormented ) blue eyes find her face. all soft skin and even softer eyes. the temptation to reach out and feel her skin under his fingertips given but will knows timing. he knows timing better than to turn his own weak moment on her. “ … just met an old friend at the pub last night. so old we … kinda haven’t been friends for like twenty years or something. i hoped it would stay that way. “ which doesn’t make him feel any less embarrassed for late night drinking escapades.
𓂅 𐫱 ❛ closed starter. ryan & will. @illmind
𓂅 𐫱 ❛ he knew the man's face somewhat well, ryan didn't take long to recognize faces. his memory was sharp, and it was both a blessing and a curse. while he was working, ryan did his best to avoid anything other than small talk with his customers. however, he'd reached a point with will where he was willing to sit and drink with him outside of working hours, which was quite unusual. " you sure do love to come here a lot, " he commented, a simple observation. not that he could talk. he came to his workplace on his days off. " guess a lot of people just love it here. " ryan could understand why that was, too. " we do have the best drinks around here. "
fingers are picking at the label on the bottle of beer he’s holding. the logo had almost come off completely at this point. this … he needs this. he needs the noise and the smell of the pub, needs ryan’s voice in his ear, needs to think about anything than the things he thinks about all the time. just for an hour or two … “ i come here to nurse my drinking habits, ryan. “ will answers dryly though … the sarcasm isn’t even remotely hidden. “ the drinks are decent when you make them. they’re good when your colleagues do. “ teases, pushes just a little further because fuck … why wouldn’t he deserve a normal night out ? why wouldn’t he be eligible for … a good time, huh ?
“ you’ve got to be kidding me ! “ seren stops her step abruptly to glance down herself. the color of red wine starting to soak through her top, creeping down towards the fabric of her skirt. great. just … great. narrowed eyes find her opposite– something between anger and … frustration ? she was supposed to be at work right after dinner. “ seriously ?! “ she hisses, voice agitated.
✦ ・the shop was quiet. that's how celeste liked it, content and in silence. her focus peaked in times like, able to put up stock and organize it how she preferred. her employees were taught such a system, too — a method created solely by cel. when the door's bell rang, she halted in her step and turned to face the visitor. “ welcome in ! ” a smile was given, kind and honest, as she welcomed them in. “ how can i help you ? ”
the rain was close to soaking through the pair of sneakers on her feet. it’s early. not too early, more so too late … 10ish am ? much earlier, much later than it should be considering she’d worked the bar all night and was only now on her way back home. mm, the thought of home– of a shower, of her bed … frustrating to find herself stumbling into the book shop instead, seeking shelter from the pouring. hopefully it’d stop in a moment. “ hey … “ seren grinds out between her teeth. “ sorry i– … just browsing. the rain is crazy today … “
