I really need to stop talking about AFTG because this is not an AFTG blog, but until that day comes I just want to say how I think it's actually really important that Jeremy is canonically a top. Too often sex as a tool of self harm is portrayed from the perspective of the person being penetrated, no matter the gender of the character. There's this belief in our culture, whether we recognize it or not, that you are "giving something up" when you're fucked and "taking something" when you fuck. I could go on for ages about the sexism surrounding this phenomenon and how it relates to women being perceived as passive, but that's not what this is about. In media, rarely is a man that sleeps with a bunch of women considered a problem, but a woman that sleeps with a lot of men obviously has something wrong with her (not my words) and while Jeremy's situation is inherently different due to Jeremy being gay, it carries similar connotations. Bottoms "give" and tops "take", therefore being a bottom can be harmful while being a top is morally neutral. But this simply isn't true. Sex can be wonderful or harmful regardless of desired position, but very rarely is the other side shown as harmful. Idk I think it's just a more narratively interesting take that Nora decided to go with by making Jeremy a top and I appreciate that
