Freezing fingers, mosquitos, wind that blows away the brushes, paint that doesn’t dry at all or dries too fast… Did you know that many professional artists suggest doing plein air painting outdoors, so you can learn fundamentals from nature and let it inform your own personal style? The discomfort of nature is part of what makes the process unpredictable and therefore you can get new ideas, unexpected results that will inform your style and work in the future. It’s the perfect environment for those happy accidents, that Bob Ross was all about. Here’s a peek at my plein air watercolour sketchbook from autumn 2018 to summer of 2019. I learned a lot about wet on wet -technique because of the discomfort of painting in the early spring, when we still had ice around, and even though the weather wasn’t freezing, it was really cold. You can watch the rest of the sketchbook from my blog site at www.illuzz.com (at Helsinki) https://www.instagram.com/p/Byj5qfJg04-/?igshid=1n2f0wnw4ivq4
