i read citt for the first time and finished it within 48 hours (like i started in the evening and had to force myself to stop at 6am to go sleep LMFAO) and now i’m rereading it and it’s just SO good. i’m happy to find blogs and ppl who read it with more nuance in mind bc the comments on chapters are always so rude to jung all the time :/
oh my, 48 hours is so fast! i think it took me about a week to complete during my first week (but i was also juggling a lot of exams at the same time 😅). i feel the same way when i reread, it's so fun and i think the experience feels better with every reread!
i feel you about the rude comments, it was frustrating to see that many of the comments didn't try to understand and his actions :( i really like that tumblr and even twitter have many readers who recognize the nuance in the story and view jung's actions without any bias!
He Supposedly treated Jung's father he knows what he is like but he throw a random diagnose and planted the seeds of doubt and worry based in one act he saw while passing Without a proper test or examination or watching for symptoms what kind of professor is that?
For me he used Jung's unusual behaviour to suggest the importance of siblings like relationships ( he was sick at the moment coughing alot) he manipulated Jung dad into taking his grandchildren in starting the never ending cycle of manipulation .
Anyone who is sincerely upset about how Jung acts toward Inho in CITT is being so unfair to Jung it's crazy. Like imagine if a person you beefed with in high school suddenly came back into your life and started buddying up/hitting on your partner. I am such an Inho supporter love the guy but Jung is so valid
You know cheese in the trap was my first romance webtoon. I re-read it yesterday. Suddenly, my attraction to emotionally unavailable, manipulative men that appear to hate me makes much more sense.
i dont rly "ship" inho and seol . like i dont think that them getting together wouldve made sense for either of their characters . but i did like the way they interacted w each other and think it would be cute in a vacuum w jung out of the picture
im complaining abt fans of a story that most ppl have no idea exists and in large part have only watched the kdrama adaptation . but a lot of fans talk abt yoo jung makes me so upset and sad . bc to me its very obvious hes autistic . but every time ive seen ppl talk abt him they are painting him as an abuser. grips you by the shoulders .he s morally grey just like everyone in hthe entire story .
Oh no, I'm in front of a new case of I love this character much more than the story they're in. I don't have much of these but I really love the ones that fit in this category.
Don't get me wrong, I like Muse on Fame a lot but my god, what a piece of shit this man is. Of course I love him, I'm the this person is awful and charismatic and I would hate them if they were real type when it comes to fictional characters.
jeongmin can’t assert boundaries for shit and i’m sure that has to do with seeing her father trample all over her mother’s boundaries on a regular basis. siyun is the worst possible person she could be with rn. this is going to be a disaster.
glad to see someone point this out. she grew up in an abusive household with a father who treats her and mother horribly and has violent and destructive tendencies. so she's always hyper aware of siyoon's mood and does the most to placate him and keep him happy, which he secretly enjoys because it means her attention is always on him. i'm intrigued and scared to see their relationship break down because once he breaks her last straw and she decides to leave him, it is not going to be pretty :/

So I've been reading these two webtoons lately about female leads stuck in very toxic and unhealthy relationships (while being aware of it), and I'm loving every second of it!
If you know me, you know I just love a badass cool female lead and I also love seeing characters stuck in very difficult situations and watching how they use their brains and/or skills to get out of it, and both comics excel at these aspects!
First series is "Trapped", a comic about this taxi driver who got tangled by accident with a vampire who develops an obsession with both her and her blood after she manages to outsmart him a couple of times, something that hasn't happened to him in years.
It feels very "Tom and Jerry" with both characters trying to get the upper hand on their relationship, and you would think it would be super one-sided but vampires actually have quite a bit of annoying rules on how they work that severely limit their freedom and our female lead exploits as many of them as she can to make him eat sh*t! It's just glorious!
"Dreaming Freedom" is... somehow less dark, and at the same time way darker of a series.
It's not as violent or gory but it deals with more realistic problems that hit closer to home for some like school bullying, abandonment, harassment, family abuse, and so on.
The premise is that our female lead teams up with a guy that has the power to use dreams to affect people in the real world, and they use this ability to get revenge on all the girl's classmates that harassed her, but the more our female lead does that, more the male lead gets obsessed with her and we later find out that he has some serious anger issues making him extremely dangerous.
Our lead basically goes from "I can use him to get payback!" to "Oh my God, I'm the only thing that's keeping this dude under control and away from people!"
It feels like you're being handed a living knife that you just pray won't run out of control or turn itself against you. It's so uncomfortable but at the same time so thrilling!
While I really don't like when unhealthy relationships are glamorized and used to send some kind of "Oh, he's kinda dangerous... But at least he loves you, so it's okay, right?" message, I do like it when the unhealthiness of the relationship is the focus AND is painted as a problem that needs to be fixed.
I like how both female leads always call the male leads on their bs and keep them in check whenever they start going too far, and it's fun to see how they use them whenever they're backed into a corner by the antagonists of the stories.
Also like the themes these series explore, about how when you keep dealing with people that act like monsters you see yourself slowly turning into a monster yourself and start to attract other monsters as well, eventually making you question how far can you go? How far should you go? Can you get back from it? And so on.
But most of all, I like that both series make sure to show that these "bad boys" were their last freaking options. Not the first, not the second, but the very bottom of the barrel. They went to them only after they felt they had no other choices and were sure that nobody else would take their side.
This isn't just "Oh, I went to him because he's a hot bad boy", this is "The world turned its back on me so I'm gonna use the only cards that I have left."
They basically made a deal with their devils and now the fun is watching to see how/if they're gonna get out of it.
This is how I like to see problematic relationships. You don't paint them as something normal or something good, you paint them as a hardship that needs to be dealt with and use it to do clever commentary on the worst aspects of humanity so we can learn how to be better and as a source for good and intense drama to make us worried for the main characters and invested in seeing them get out okay.
i have a headcanon that seol likes other flowers more than roses but jung is drawn towards roses because he thinks its more romantic & suited for seol so for a long time on their anniversary jung got seol roses and because she is too kind to say no she always accepted them gratefully until one day she slipped it out that she likes flowers more and it made jung sulky at seol for not telling him while he was buying roses all this time.
they resolved it with seol getting jung a rose and jung getting seol a really big saffron crocus flower and now although a bit weird, their flower-vase at the dinner table is a mix of roses, jasmines and exotic flowers that don't look well together but smell amazing & mean a lot to the two when they look at them.
😭😭 this is so adorable and is just like them. i love imagining seol accepting the roses because even if she doesn't really like them, it's from jung which makes them precious. and jung sulking over it oml i love them both so much. thanks for sharing this i love jungseol content so much <3
