It's so fascinating to me to think about Max and Flint and how they are my two favorite characters of Black Sails but they don't talk to each other at all in the show (they even barely acknowledge each other) because they are the two characters that are, at all times, on opposite sides of the conflict.
And then, at the same time, their journeys mirror each other. The fact that the Max/Anne/Jack throuple develops on the same season we discover the true relationship between Flint/Thomas/Miranda is insane to me.
Also, how angry Max was at him at the very beginning and at the very end because she was so tired of men with egos destroying everything around her but at the same time, Flint has wanted to stop his madness for such a long time but he was denied the opportunity over and over again.
Like... I can't imagine not think about them.
I don't get tired of referencing this meme when it comes to Vane lmao.
Thomas saying that to Flint and then it cuts to Flint and Silver... well, yes!
So Taskmaster NZ series 2 is just one of those where everyone is equally insane, I see. Episode 1 is one of the strongest starts for a TM series ever, I'm on episode 3 now and everyone is so loved by me already.
I love whatever the fuck is wrong with them and it has taken me so off guard because the first few episodes of this season are a little bit rough to watch. But I would kill for these two so it's all well.
I had to post this scene like this because I'm obsessed with Toby Stephens and Louise Barnes here, they did a fantastic job in a very important moment because, without yet revealing to us exactly what happened, we see for the first time the true motivation behind Flint's actions so far.
Similar to Eleanor, Miranda is a woman who has lived in the privilege that money has provided her and I love her dearly but Flint is right here. He doesn't come from a wealthy family and has spent his life ignoring his origins and his desires to fit into society. He has been good at his job, has done everything asked of him and has kept any indiscretions hidden.
And it has not been enough.
Miranda has the opportunity to be happy in that society but Flint does not because it would mean denying who he is again and ignoring what was done to the person he has loved most in his life, a person who was the same as him.
Flint is not the right leader for the cause because revenge is his driving force (that's why Madi's future introduction is so important, she is the leader Flint is not capable of being) but he is right: apologizing is not enough, apologizing is making them believe they are right when they are wrong and earning his right to exist requires a much more drastic action.
This absolute masterclass in acting, not one time I've rewatched this scene without feeling insane because of what this means in context. Look what having a good script and knowing where your show is going can give to your public.
This Bisexual Alliance⢠to help Max (among other things, obviously, because everyone has an agenda in this fucking show and I love them dearly for it).
I love Black Sails because no other show put together three diabolical people like them and then make them barely or never interact with each other again lmao. And it makes perfect sense.
She's so fucking funny, there's never been a character in the history of humanity making as many questionable decisions as her and I wouldn't want her any other way lmao.
I love the concept of these two sitting next to each other because she always dresses in very vivid colors (mostly pink) and he dresses in dark clothes (mostly black). And their comedy styles, their approach to tasks... they are complete opposites lmao.
This season is definitely my favorite of TM Australia so far, along with season 2, but I find this one more solid overall.
PS: Joel giving up on the box task was absolutely WORTH IT.
TM AU's season 4 has been saved by the very unlikely chemistry between contestants in the studio because it had (to me) the worst first episode I've seen for a Taskmaster season so far (David and Emma came in too strong for my taste, Waka and Tommy have been a little bit of an acquired taste and Lisa was just... there).
But it's insane how funny they all have been in the studio as the episodes passed, they interact a lot with each other and, most importantly, they've learnt WHEN they should interact with each other. It's not the first time I think a season has been elevated by the live studio but this is definitely the most blatant case lmao.

One of my favorite aspects of Black Sails has to be dialogues predicting the future (of the person themselves or someone else), there's a lot of them (like Richard talking about what could happen to Eleanor if she doesn't stop or Vane's letter to Eleanor, among others) but the thing about this one is Silver is actually doing the opposite of what he said he would do.
It proves how much he has evolved but also how, unlike any other main character, he wasn't supposed to be part of any of this. Everything he achieves (unfortunately for him) is because accidents or unforeseen circunstances keep piling up.
Scott's face here kills me everytime. That's a istfg this fucking woman face.
This is only episode 3 and Eleanor already painted herself as untrustworthy after what happened with Max at the end of episode 2, but the fact that she says this TO HIM of all people... oh, the layers.
It's kind of funny because it's proven time and time again how extremely unrealiable Eleanor is but this is just the first instance, yet this is how Scott looks at her. He was warning us about her bullshit with that face, not a hint of self awareness lmao.
I've seen my fair share of extremely dumb moments on Taskmaster UK and AU but I was NOT ready for Concetta and the scale task on episode 3x04 of TM AU, I am flabbergasted.
The fact that she didn't realize how the scale worked at any point during the whole task is fascinating to me in a way not any other stupid moment in this show has been before, I would have lost it if I were Tom 𫪠bless them both lmao.
Second year in a row I start my annual rewatch of Black Sails to cope with an insane heat wave (we've been at almost 40°C for like at least a week at this point and I already want to kill myself but I have to endure three more months of this).
I've finally started watching Taskmaster Australia and I'm so so so glad they decided to keep the reactions of other contestans to the tasks, of all the changes Taskmaster UK made over the years this is the one thing that I really miss because I feel it added so much to the group's dynamic in the live studio.
I don't know if Australia has changed it too because I just started series 2 and I know they are on series 5, but I'm going to enjoy every second of it.
One thing I've noticed while rewatching Life with Derek and watching the two movies for the first time (I didn't watch Vacation with Derek at the time, so it was a first too) is that Casey looks /mostly/ normal around Derek but he is fucking INSANE, the craziest shit happens because he has Casey in his mind 24/7 and he's incapable to be fucking normal about her. I can't believe this is a show that exists lmao.
Because tell me why the fuck is Casey actively kissing a guy at the end of Vacation with Derek and he decides it's the perfect time to yank her so he can dance with her instead. The fuck.
And Life with Luca was a flop in general except for them, I really liked how their relationship has evolved now that they are adults but it's still the same at the same time. But she told him she was struggling a little bit because she spends several months alone because of her husband's job and he really said you know what, I'm about to leave my entire fucking life in another country behind to live in your guest house. Okay.
