Take it from someone who has started a calorie deficit many times and stuck to it:
1. The first three days, you will be starving. It will be constant. It will suck. I cannot sugarcoat it.
But the good news is it doesn’t stay that miserable forever.
2. The first week you will have food noise. The physical hunger will go away, and the mental hunger will almost be worse. Do not give in or you will have to start at step one again.
3. After a week it starts to become a habit. The food noise is still there. But you have learned not to listen to it. You have learned to distract yourself with other things that you enjoy. (Since eating is not that much fun anyway)
4. After two weeks, it will become a habit.
Even if it seems hard to start back up again after a binge or a period of over eating, those first few days are the hardest. If you’re stuck in a binge restrict cycle, you’re never gonna get past that point of hunger and food noise.
Trust me, it’s worth it.
Things to do instead
Sleep- dont be afraid of a nap
Journal- vent, write out food diary, make little doodles, practice handwriting, make it colorful, add pictures and inspiration
Make a new Pinterest Board
Read- come on pick that book youve been procrastinating
Learn a new language - Duolingo is my choice
Color by number- app or IRL
Sew, Crochet, Knit
Paint your nails- file, shape, color, add designs
Go for a walk- go a little further than last time DONT FORGET WATER
Skin care routine- face wash, mask, toner, moisturizer. Bonus points for a lip mask
Lotion every inch of your body / scented lotion on your hands
Brush your hair slowly methodically
Clean your hair brush
Try a new hairstyle- smallest possible pieces into a french braid is an arm workout
Video games, or mobile app games
Organize your wardrobe- take every single item out. Put in order by color, by season, by dress length, sleeve length, find a motivation outfit
Listen to music- go down a youtube rabbit hole, discover new bands
Wash make up brushes
Vacuum- get every spot on carpet in all directions
Dishes- handwash, hand dry, put away (you dont want to dirty your just cleaned dishes right?)
Dust- base boards, ceiling fans, window blinds
Puzzle- mobile app / IRL
Origami- lots of youtube tutorials, people seem really into paper stars lately, personally I make a bunch of paper cranes I make them in the smallest sizes I can
Clean your shoes
Make a meal plan for the week / month- look up foods search their cals and macros, write out OMADs or fasting times, pre log it so you know what your goals are
Make a new workout plan- doing the same thing every day will platue you, mix it up
Yoga- deep stretches and breathing excerices
Draw in a sketch book- improve your skill, even if your a stick figure kind of artist turn him into a lil flip book
Painting- I will never be Bob Ross but my water colors do just fine
Pets- walks, shower, brush teeth, trim nails, brush

I usually avoid tumblr out of shame after a binge but I wanted to make a list of all the negative feelings that come immediately after and things to remind myself next time
I feel so physically uncomfortable

My clothes look ugly
Stomach cramps
Teeth feel fuzzy
Gassy
Guilt and self hate
I feel heavy and moving takes more effort
I’m bloated
I feel like a failure with no self respect or control
I feel lethargic
I’m now in a shit mood and taking it out on people around me
I feel sick
I wasted money on mid food when there are 5000 things I’d rather save money for
The short term satisfaction was not worth it. It felt good for literally the few seconds the food was in my mouth and now I hate myself
The cravings will pass
Feeling empty is so much better than feeling full
Idc if you’re on your period. Grow up

However hungry you are right now, you can wait until you get home where there is plenty of healthy food that won’t make you feel guilt
No, you don’t need to buy the box of snacks just to have on hand because you can practise restraint and only have one. You will eat the whole box. Save your money, don’t even go into the shop
I’m further from my goals than I was this morning
I had come this far without binging and now I’ve ruined my progress and have to start again
I’m terrified to weigh myself tomorrow instead of excited to see how much I lost
The longer i go without a binge, the easier it gets
The post binge clarity has me stressing the fuck out but what’s done is done, all I can do now is try to be better.

♡ Not all c@ls are the same. A cookie is 100 c@ls, and an apple is 100 c@ls. But, a cookie spikes your insulin through the roof. And an apple spikes it much lower. When you spike your insulin really high from eating a cookie, it takes your body much longer to get back to the fat burning zone.
♡ Insulin must be down in order to be in the fat burning zone. Everytime you eat, you spike your insulin. When your insulin is up, you cannot burn fat. When you're not eating, your insulin is down (this is why the timing of your meals is important.)
♡ So sugar starts to cause us to go up and down up and down. And we call it rollercoastering. Where you just feel like you're so hungry, why? Because your insulin went way up and then it dropped way down.
We have to cut sugar out to get the body to change.
