Saw the national tour of The Phantom of the Opera last month! Didn't have time to write a proper review at the time, but just wanted to summarize my general impressions:

It was AMAZING. Looks beautiful as ever, Maria Bjornson's sets and costumes are a feast for the eyes, especially up close! I was maybe five or six rows from the stage and there were so many luscious details to take in, you could watch it multiple times and still find new things to look at.

The cast was terrific- shout out especially to Carrington Vilmont as Monsieur Andre and Midori Marsh as Carlotta as my particular faves. Vilmont's Andre is such a fanboy, and really played into the comic relief side of the role. Marsh as Carlotta also played up the comedy with a lightness that made Carlotta an enjoyable character even with her catty diva antics. Two of my new faves in those roles.

Also kind of freaking out that I was actually in the same room with Lisa Vroman! Even though she doesn't get to sing much as Madame Giry, she's been one of my favorite Christines since I first saw old vids of her, I actually tracked down and bought her solo album years ago, her voice is so amazing! Anyway she's an absolute legend and I love her.

We got all the main leads at this performance, and they were all solid. They didn't crack my list of favorite interpretations for me personally, but they hit all the right notes they needed to, musically and dramatically. Christine looked back at the Phantom for a bit during the All I Ask of You reprise at the end, which always gets me!

It was my first time actually seeing the original staging live, and I pretty much cried through the whole thing. Seeing all the iconic moments on stage in front of me after a lifetime of listening to the cast album and imagining it, or watching shaky, grainy boots, I can't even describe how overwhelming it was, but in the best way. It was just as magical and gorgeous and heartbreaking as I always imagined it would be. A truly incomparable experience! I can't recommend enough that everybody go see it if they can!!

We don’t often have reused stage costumes here at Recycled Movie Costumes, but this interesting piece seems to have hopped from one stage show to the next.   This yellow, floral-printed dress was first worn by Kelli O’Hara as Clara Johnson in the beautiful but short-lived 2005 musical 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑳𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑷𝒊𝒂𝒛𝒛𝒂.   The series 𝑺𝒄𝒉𝒎𝒊𝒈𝒂𝒅𝒐𝒐𝒏, a television parody/love letter to musicals took the stage in 2025’s 𝑩𝒓𝒐𝒂𝒅𝒘𝒂𝒚 𝑪𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝑺𝒕𝒂𝒈𝒆: 𝑺𝒄𝒉𝒎𝒊𝒈𝒂𝒅𝒐𝒐𝒏! at the Kennedy Center for a limited run. Kelli’s costume (and it does indeed seem to be Kelly’s costume, as the pattern of the flowers matches exactly) seems to have made its way into the hands of Sara Chase’s Melissa Gimble.   Are there more Broadway costumes floating around from this production?
