This man has my whole heart. Okay bye thatās all
When people say:
"Logan and Rory are the power couple"
"Jess and Rory are better as friends"
.......
Straight facts. Jory is way better and everyone knows it. Idk how itās possible for people to see Jess and Roryās relationship, then Logan and herās later on-and say Lory is end gameā¦LIKE WHAT?! In all truthfulness, Dean and Rory were very better as friends, Jess and Rory endgame, Logan and Rory never should have meant.
My favourite moment from Gilmore Girls is when Luke and Lorelai run into each other in the middle of the street right after she told him she slept with Christopher and Lorelai is like, āIām sorry. This [breakup] is really hard and awkward and Iām in great pain too,ā and meanwhile Lukeās all, āPffft. Iām fiiiine. Stop going on about it. Clearly, youāre the one whoās still hung up here. Iām telling you, Iām over it. I guess itās not as big a deal to me as it is to you. So weāre not getting married. Big deal. Youāre the one who proposed in the first place.ā
That was SAVAGE. No one else could ever hope to be that petty and hurtful. The man was beyond gutted and acting like a child, and I admire that so much.
LITERALLY THO BAHAHAHAHAHA

Iām so conflicted because Jory was so cute, but in the end Jess deserved better than Roryš„ŗā¤ļø
I'm just thinking about when Jess told Rory he loves her, how Rory was likely the first, and only person that he ever said these words too in his whole life, as well as when she told him she thinks she may have loved him that was probably the first time he had ever heard those words from anyone ever in his whole life family included, and it just tears me to shreds! šš His love for her was so deep ugh! I can't...šš My heart it hurts right now! š

Thank you Paris
maturity is going fromĀ ājess and rory shouldve ended up togetherā toĀ āwhile jess and rory had a really strong and sweet bond, they were absolutely shit for eachother. jess fucked up a little bit at the beginning, but truly loved rory. rory knew he still pined for her in the later seasons and almost took advantage of that. that isnt healthy, and jess deserves someone who wont use him and rory deserves time to get over logan and grow as a person aloneā
What is much?
Jess deserved to have friends. We deserved to see him hanging out with people other than Roryās friends that one time.
Iām bored hereās some underdog quartet (Rory, Jess, Paris, Lane) headcannons/AUs/ideas:
- After that takeout scene, Paris is so hung up on their debate that she ends up writing a 20-page essay arguing why the beatniks suck and that no, Jane Austen would not in fact be a fan of Bukowski. Jess responds by sending her a copy of one of Bukowskiās books through Rory, filled to the brim with marked passages. Thereās not a single annotation in it, just the markings; passages that Jess thinks Austen would like. It pisses Paris off so much that he didnāt even write any arguments, but sheās even angrier that she sees his point.
- Whenever Jess does spend time in Stars Hollow High (which granted is rarely) he spends 90% of that time throwing different band names at Lane who throws just as many back in return. Jess hides some of Laneās stash under the counter at Lukeās when she runs out of space, and they spend so much free time gushing over songs they love or arguing over artists they have different opinions on. Jess also compiles the list for band names on the empty pages of a paperback before Laneās band finally settle on Hep Alien.
- At some point Rory ends up venting about Francine while Jess is present and he decides to stick up for her by pulling a prank and dragging both her and Lane into it. At first the three go into Dooseās because Jess wants to scare Taylor with his mere presence in the store. But he doesnāt actually find anything they need for the prank, so after ten minutes they head over to Walmart where they get the necessary tools. The girls freak out a bit about the whole thing, but also feel pretty good; finally getting to be a little irresponsible and a little assholish and like, well, teens.
- Any time Paris and Rory fight Lane and Jess have to alternate between hearing them complain about it to them. At first Paris is afraid to vent to them, assuming that sheās the one whoās going to be kicked out of the group, but the longer the friendship holds the easier it gets for her to rant.
- After the season 3 break up Jess and Lane actually keep in touch. Partly because Lane refused to let Jess fall off the face of the earth, and partly because Jess actually feels like he can talk to Lane about his stuff (and vice versa). When the other girls find out they are pissed: Rory because sheās scared Lane is taking Jessā side, Paris because she feels left out. Things still donāt mend well between him and Rory, but Jess does make up with Paris by sending her books from every new town he works in. And the girls immediately make up with Lane.
- Rory pretends to be fine with Paris and Lane still being friends with Jess, but is really uncomfortable with it. Not because she doesnāt want them to be friends, theyāre all great and deserve each other as friends, but because she still has such mixed feelings about Jess and doesnāt feel like she can talk to the girls about it out of fear for their reactions. So she just ends up tuning out every time they mention him, but does still jerk up every time she hears his name.
- At first they donāt talk about it, just give each other the occasional ālookā, but at some point Jess and Lane start confiding in each other about the class divide within their friend group. They love Rory and Paris, but those girls have opportunities and the freedom to make mistakes that Jess and Lane simply donāt. And itās hard to make them understand that sometimes. On the flipside, Rory and Paris feel more comfortable venting about the stiff upper class environment to each other. They know theyāre lucky and donāt want to sound ungrateful, but they also feel a lot of pressure that they no one else seems to understand (except Lorelai, but she poses her own issues sometimes).
- Jess hears about the boat drama from the girls and immediately drops his own rule about not bothering Rory by driving over to Stars Hollow. Heās afraid to push her at first, but at some point the two end up alone and Jess finally goes off asking what the hell has happened. Rory loses it and explains how hard everything has been since sheās begun studying, and admits sheās considering dropping out.Ā āWhY wOUld yOu dROP OUTofyALE?!ā Jess obviously asks. Rory pulls out her mental list of every screw up sheās had since starting at Yale, uncluding the Dean-debacle, assuming Jess will finally understand howĀ āirredimeableā she is.Ā āCongratulations, youāre human,ā Jess exclaims annoyed. Then he calms down and tells her heās in no position to judge (not that he doesnāt want to, he just canāt) and no matter what she canāt give up on everything because some ass said she didnāt have what it takes. It takes time for her to admit, but the words reach her, and she doesnāt drop out. Crisis averted.Ā
- When Jess gets his book published he goes to all the girls. First he somehow finds a way to meet Paris alone, who demands he stays for another day so she can read it and then rip it to shreads in front of him. It takes less than a day for her to finish and she ends up praising it in frustration. Grasping at every flaw she can find (and they exist) but admitting that itās a great debut and he should be proud. Next is Lane, who responds with a massive hug and squeals of support. They talk a bit about life updates and Jess tells Lane that if she ever needs a break or a change of scenery she can visit Philadelphia. She asks if heās shown Rory yet. Heās saved her for last because heās needed the time to mentally prepare, but doesnāt say so. When he finds Rory, sheās proud and happy for him and supportive. He does end up having an awkard dinner with Logan, but just leaves with an oddly tiredĀ āwe made fun of guys like thisā. However, after this Rory and him stay in touch.
- When Zack proposes, Lane declines and has a momentary meltdown before taking a car and driving all the way to Truncheon. Jess lets her in and him and the guys let her raid the kitchen and cry over everything before she gets Jessā bed. She stays for a week, where she helps out Truncheon with random tasks, talks out all her stuff with them and spends her free time and nighttime falling in love with the art scene. She finds out about tons of ways to live off making music in case Hep Alien is doomed forever, and even gets some connections. After hugging the guys + Jess and thanking them for everything, she returns to Stars Hollow to get proper closure with Zack, discuss the future of Hep Alien, and lay the groundwork for her future.
- Jess invites all three to the open day, and they drive together in a hurry. Lane catches up with the guys, Paris heckles the poet and gets in an argument with him afterward, while Jess and Rory have an almost there moment (or maybe a finally there moment? You decide!)
- Jess is present at the graduation and provides much missed snark and emotional support for Rory, as well as extra bonding with Paris and Lane. Itās all super sweet and they have a group hug at one point, initiated by Lane.
- As adults they all text and email on a daily basis (almost hourly). Paris always has something to criticise about Jessā work, while Lane shares all the new music she finds. She starts her new life providing drums for other acts in Philadelphia and working at a club before she finally finds the perfect band, who donāt get Madison Square Garden-famous but do get a serious underground following that lets them live off their music. Rory travels all over and always meets up with the others whenever sheās in Philadelphia, near Parisā grad school and wherever Laneās tour schedule syncs up with herās.
- Whenever all of them are back in Stars Hollow for various traditional celebrations, the girls get intentionally drunk on Miss Pattyās punch for at least one day. Jess always sticks to his own booze. But one time he stumbles into the girls having a movie night with the punch in his veins after Miss Patty ambushed him. They never let him live it down.
- Some combination of anybody in the group have lived together at some point. Lane stayed at Truncheon in the beginning of moving to Philadelphia, Rory has crashed at Parisā so many times she should pay rent (as has Lane whenever sheās in town), and Rory and Jess eventually get an apartment together as a couple. Even Jess sleeps over at Lane once or twice after a night out in the early-ish Philly days, and at Parisā when he needs a place to crash for a worktrip.
- Whenever one of them (or couples) move out of one place and into another they have a crisis about not finding half their books or cds or dvdsā¦. only to realize they constantly leave them with the remaining friends. There are certain copies they donāt know whom the original owner was.
- Rory constantly pushes Jessā books and Laneās music on the culture-department of each newspaper and website she works at. Sometimes she sends them to competing media too, just so they can get more exposure.
- In the early-ish days, Paris and Rory come to Philadelphia on weekend trips every time Jess or Lane get a good review or reach a ranking. With time they schedules get too messy, but they never go too long without meeting up as all four. They all attend every one of Laneās early concerts, then as many as they can once sheās an established performer. Rory gets a kick out of saying sheās with the band. Jess and Paris always bring books but never end up reading (Paris enters a couple moshpits actually).
- On social functions the snark is over the roof. Jess and Paris tear apart every aspect of any function (fancy rich or folksy Stars Hollow) and Rory and Lane have to stop them before they burst into laughter themselves. Sometimes they all end up in a game of trying to one up each other with witty remarks about their surroundings. Rory compiles and publishes some of it as a book. It does really well.
GILMORE GIRLS,Ā but itās just the memes
AHHH THIS IS AMAZING I LOVE ITTTš„°š„°š¤©
I've seen a lot of people making fun of Jess and Rory's shared love for books being stated as a reason of their compatibility. Antis act like it's just books and not a big deal. And maybe it's not a big deal for any other character but for a character like Rory for whom its almost a personality trait, books ARE a big deal. Even in her valedictorian speech she mentions that she lives in two world, one is of books and the other one includes everything else. Thats how important it is for her.
I genuinely believe that you can tell a lot about a person by looking at their literary and music taste. There is a reason why someone loves a certain writer or resonates with a character or listens to a particular genre of music. It's not as simple as having the same eating habits or favorite colour.
Also since we are on the subject of reading it's important to note that while there are other characters like Paris and Logan who are intellectually smart, they are not like Jess and Rory.
Like Paris loves to read but that comes from a place of competition, to be the best.
Even Logan reads but he is not passionate about literature, art history and music in the way Jess and Rory are. This doesn't mean they are not intelligent, it just means that there is no one else on the show who genuinely loves reading and discussing books like Jess and Rory. This is something that only they share.
And this is why the argument, Logan also reads and Jess is not the only one, fails. Unlike Logan, books have impacted Jess not only in his career but day to day life. Same with Rory.
Rory Gilmore and Jess Mariano in Gilmore Girls
PLEASE THEY ARE SO ADORABLE
Another thing I wish the Gilmore Girls Revival had done differently was the lighting. Everything was kind of cold and greyed-down and shadowy, like all the warmth had been drained out of it. At first (in my memory) I thought maybe that was just the London scenes, maybe because it was supposed to be cloudy and overcast there? But upon rewatching, no. It's all of it, and it feels WRONG.
We don't want Gilmore Girls to be cold and grey! We want warmth and golden light!
