“That was not supposed to happen,” he insists, quickly putting the lid on to the mixing bowl he’d been improvising as a scrying bowl. He’d deal with the demon goo later… “I just wanted to figure out where Waldorf runs off to every morning! My cat has a double life, and I need to know if I’m the side chick or not.” Wesley packs up the useless spellbooks too, shoving it all into his beat up old messenger bag. He curses under his breath as a bit of goo drips from the bowl and onto the table, singing it slightly. “Am I the worst witch you’ve ever met? Tell the truth,” he whines, dropping his head to rest with a thunk! on the table between them.
“I hate to break it to you but-- you’re definitely the side chick, but I’m sure Waldorf appreciates you but also hates you because you named him Waldorf, I mean honestly, you can’t even get a cute nick name out of that.” She reached across the table and patted the back of his head once it landed on the table, he was better at the craft than she was so he had that going for himself. “It could be worse, the bowl could be on fire right now-- or the cat could be.”
sweetlike-cxndy:
“As if you wouldn’t,” Candy teased, winking at her playfully before she took a sip of the steaming hot coffee. “Thanks, babe.” She smiled, but the smile faded as they spoke of less happy things. “This isn’t a movie, though. I hope they’ve got some leads, at least, and they’re just not revealing them. I hope they at least know who they’re looking for…” She shrugged, there wasn’t much for them to do if they didn’t have any information. “Anyway… you have any plans for Christmas?”
“Yeah but he’d be disrespectful about it, I would just be super cute about it.” She laughed and set the coffee pot back down, with everything happening she’d completely forgotten about the holidays. “I don’t actually, I mean, I’ve decorated but that has been the extent of my Christmas shenanigans. Everyone’s gifts have been bought via the internet so--” She shrugged, “why, what are you doing for Christmas? Can I crash?”
lxcnewolfcal:
“Maybe a little bit of both,” Cal cocked an eyebrow back at her, keeping his expression calm. He barely let on his emotions to those closest to him, let alone strangers. “Or maybe neither. I’m just not one for the drama.” What a line coming from a man who started arguments out of thin air. “But I’ve got people here too, even if I was tired of the bullshit or scared. Whether I like it or not, I think I’m stuck.”
“And considering you just moved here, you could at least give the town a chance when there’s nothing going on.” Lettie pressed her lips together slightly before shrugging, “You just moved here and you’ve already got people? Did they already live here before you got relocated? Or did you guys come together?” She raised her eyebrows, she was still a bit curious about him and his instance on having seen her before.
witchylilwesley:
“Shit, fuck.” he mumbled, frowning in confusion. The ritual wasn’t anything overly complicated, just a simple locator spell, but he had to have misread the incantation or something because instead of finding his dick of a cat, he had a bowl of weird black goo. “Stupid Sanskrit, knew I should have stuck with Latin…” he ranted, flipping through the book beside him while the bowl bubbled ominously.
Lettie leaned across the table and used her pen to poke at the bowl, her expression twisted in disgust. “Wes-- what in the hell, I think some ancient demon is missing their breakfast because that is the only thing I can describe that as.” She’d flipped through a few books on the table but ultimately gave into her disinterest and ended up watching him instead.
sweetlike-cxndy:
Candy laughed as Lettie climbed onto the bar, and she hugged her back. “So who does a girl have to blow to get a cup of coffee in this joint, anyway?” She teased when she mentioned coffee, and slid onto one of the stools. “I guess, but like, we don’t even know who the victims are, so it’s kinda hard to speculate.” Candy shrugged, she hadn’t heard any news from the council or the police. “It’s weird, isn’t it? Someone’s missing, and yet there’s no search parties, there’s no missing posters, they haven’t even released a name. How can we help out if we don’t know anything?”
“Don’t let my boss hear you ask that question, he’ll definitely try to take you up on that offer.” Lettie grabbed a clean mug and filled it with coffee before placing it onto the counter, “Maybe they don’t want help? Maybe it’s some sort of plot! The council is evil and they’ve got some sort of plan to do-- something, I dunno. That’s usually the answer in movies.” She shrugged, it was an option considering the way things were going. “Let’s hope that’s not really what it is though.”
Does anything scar you?
“Plenty of things scare me, more specifically it’s fear of the unknown. I actually hate the idea of not truly knowing what comes next.”
sweetlike-cxndy:
“Am I no one now? Wow, and here I thought you liked me.” Candy feigned offense, but rolled her eyes good-naturedly. She was glad she’d come by to check on her, with that kinda focus, she could be caught unawares by anyone. “I’m surprised you don’t have more people coming in to get drunk, but then, I guess they’ve got better things to do.” She frowned, then nodded. “I did, it’s pretty scary. I don’t know who it is, but the cops really need to figure that shit out. This makes two people now.”
“Well it would’ve still been incredibly rude.” Lettie climbed onto the bar to wrap the other girl into a hug, there was no one else in there so she could get away with it. “Nah, most of the people that come in here are looking for coffee or something quick to eat. But I think everyone is too freaked out by everything going on right now.” She let go of the other and slide back over to her side of the bar, “I wonder if there’s a motive, maybe the two victims are connected somehow and no one is saying anything.”
vevedollx:
▐ •☆ — ’ it’s cool. i’ll just take whatever is in that one,” she put her elbows on the counter and rest her head on them. she looked at the coffee, partially relieved as that black gold was poured into her mug. “A little. I’m not really a drinker, but I’ll overload with coffee any day of the week.”
Lettie slid the mug across the counter along with creamers, sugar and the shaker. “I’m pretty much the opposite, I’ll drink coffee if it’s a seasonal flavor but other than that I hardly go out of my way for it. Alcohol is a different story though, did you want something from the kitchen? We have a cook here, he got shit detail along with me so--” Shit detail meaning the employees the boss cared the least about in the event that a rabid animal decided to go on a rampage.
softiedominant:
“Well, if you say, I believe you,” he smiled at her, after being a cop for so many years, one got good at noticing when someone was lying, not to mention that his vampire powers also helped with that, but he decided to not say anything about it. “Just coffee is good enough, I’m not feeling like eating anything right now.”
“Coming right up!” She pushed away from the counter to grab a clean mug from the rack and a pot of coffee, she’d been remaking it all morning considering the lengthy wait time for customers they had and no one wanted old burnt coffee. “So what brings you out in the chaos? Surely not just a cup of our world famous coffee.” Lettie grinned as she filled his mug, she didn’t drink their coffee so she had no idea if it was bad or not but enough people drank it so that was good enough for her.
lxcnewolfcal:
“A lifetime is long enough, no matter whose it is.” Cal sipped at the coffee, the warmth of it spreading through him but not quite penetrating the cold emptiness there. His own life seemed short when compared to some other species. The idea of death made his blood run cold. “So it’s safe to assume you’re not taking these unfortunate events as a sign to pack up your shit and go? Lucky you. I almost wish I hadn’t unpacked all my boxes.”
“Not really, I have friends here who I want to look out for. Can’t do that if I’m across the town line.” There was also the fact that she was a witch, not a very good one but she could still be helpful under certain circumstances. “Are you afraid of whatever’s out there? Or do you just not want to deal with the immense amount of bullshit that suddenly covered our town like a dark cloud?” Lettie leaned against the counter, supporting herself on her forearms, one eyebrow quirked.
modern witch aesthetic for the one who sees in shades of purple.
softiedominant:
“No, I’m not your boss, but you seemed to be doing something wrong,” he teased her with a small grin, though she did seem like she was doing something wrong, how nervous she got, made him think that. “But don’t worry, your secret is safe with me,” she didn’t seem to be doing anything too seriously wrong. She just seemed to be just using her phone, while that was wrong, she at least wasn’t really hurting anyone.
“Uhm-- nope, I was just checking the weather. I need to know if it’s going to rain today.” Lettie pushed herself off of the counter and shrugged, the small lie slipped past her lips with ease. “What can I get for you? I’ve mainly been handing out coffee today considering everything going on but one of our cooks in in the back if you’re looking for actual food.”
lxcnewolfcal:
Cal wasn’t privy to that information so he couldn’t tell her even if he wanted to. Besides, he was far too distracted trying to figure out why she looked so familiar. “Unfortunately, no. I’m hoping whoever it is turns up soon - unharmed. I’d hate to see another….well, let’s just say I’ve seen enough death this month already.” He took a long drink of the coffee, letting out a crisp ‘ahh’ sound at the familiar jolt. “Have you lived here very long? I’m starting to feel like the town is trying to tell me to get out of here before things get any worse.”
“I agree, we could use some good news right now.” She tapped her nails against the side of the coffee pot before putting it back on the burner, “I’ve lived here my whole life actually, but I guess in the grand scheme of things that isn’t very long at all. There are people in town that are actually ancient but I’m still only on my first lifetime.”
