"Pooh, promise you won't forget about me, ever. Not even when I'm a hundred."
Pooh thought for a little. "How old shall I be then?"
"Ninety-Nine."
Pooh nodded. "I promise," he said.

"Pooh, promise you won't forget about me, ever. Not even when I'm a hundred."

"Ninety-Nine."

I want to try to kickstart something. How about some fic chain? Reblog the chain by adding 1-3 sentences to continue to story.
Rules: only reblogs, replies won't work like intended. In case of multiple chains appearing - more chains = more plots! No restrictions, have fun and go wild!
And so I'll start:
Stan opened his eyes and immediately tensed up. Something was wrong.
It wasn't the rope chafing his wrists that tipped him off, nor was it the chair that he was tied to. It was the whispering coming from the dark corners of the room.
"Who's there?" Stanley tried to call out, wincing as his raspy throat convulsed, refusing to let any sound pass through.
Yet the shadows in the farthest corner moved as if they heard him loud and clear. No, not moved - they thickened.
"Who's there?" His own voice answered back, but it was pitchy and wrong
"Who's there?" The darkness tittered and laughed, thick and swimming in Stan's fright.
"WhO's ThErE?" The whispered glee pushed at him, setting his nerves alight with dread.
He tugged against the ropes that had bound him to the chair, the knots crude but effective. He'd been in messes like this before, sure, but never one where his captors were faceless shadows, with voices that felt like high pitched radio static, itching at his skin.
It was probably a bad idea, but he spoke again, straining his ears to figure if it was one voice or three responding in the tainted caricatures of his own.
“Quit it, I ain’t-”
“Scared” A voice mocked once more, brushing right by his ear, barely tickling the hairs beside it. Stan whipped his head around, snarling, but found nothing in the darkness.
“Listen pal, I don’t know what game you’re playing but it’s not funny” Stan spat, shrinking back into the seat to test the rope, finding his fingers catching around the knot.
“A game, ooh that sounds fun” Another whispered, too far and close all at once, like an echo without a source.
The first thing that wasn't something plucked out of his mind. It was a gamble, a stupid one, but he was used to that by now.
"Yeah, sure, fine, a game - but you know, probably would be more fun if i wasn't tied to this chair."
"it's no fun if I play for you," hissed one shadow.
"Run, run, you better run," laughed another and suddenly he was assaulted by the echos of a hundred voices screaming.
"Who's there?" Just as he had done, but there was one voice in all those echoes that struck his heart to a near stop.
“Ford” Stan couldn’t help but mumble, but quickly clamped his jaw shut to avoid saying anything more. He didn’t know how this… thing worked, but, as with all the dangers in his life, he didn’t want it catching on that he had a brother.
Stan hoped the voices hadn't heard his mumble, hand't heard his plea for his twins safety-
The giggling intensified, Stan held his breath hoping and praying that-
"Ford!" Came his own voice, chirping in an almost taunting imitation of Stan's voice, echoing round and round and round and damnit those footsteps better not be his brother's-
It was ... and wasn't Ford.
It had his apparence, but was so obviously actually some sort of Fey Being, and Stan tried not to roll his eyes, he hated dealing with creatures that could capture images from someone's mind - although it did make conning them a fun challenge.
"You want to play a game, Pal? Alright let's play-"
"-How about a game of riddles?" the not-quite-Ford tilted his head in what was the actually adequate mimic of said twin. "But you'll have to promise me something that you will give me when I win."
Typical. That creature already was thinking of getting something. Yet then again, not like Stan had other choices, had he?
Stanford struggled not to wriggle and squirm within the darkness holding him captured. He hated having to just watch, hated being unable to help Stan win this game against this creature.
But ... but he trusted Stan completely, and he knew Stan would win this game, win the prize.
not to talk about certain morally hideous authors, in contrast, but I keep thinking about how well Terry Pratchett does witch hunts in a world that has actual witches.
You have Tiffany Aching being aware of marginalised or outcast women being pushed further and further away from a community and then being accused of being a witch. The actual witch in the area either helps the women or lets the community feel her wrath at having harmed some poor old woman who needed help. You have actual witches furious at the treatment of non witches, and that treatment reflects what real world marginalisation of the outsiders and accused was like. nobody is brave enough to go fully against a "real" witch but it doesn't matter. someone was hurt or pushed away and that's something a witch can't stand for, even if she's in no danger herself. There's no "oh haha how silly, a real witch can't be hurt by witch hunting methods". it's "you caused harm or death to an innocent, how dare you think it's righteous"
I've actually been thinking about this over the past few months.
How Sir Terry described the drums of hate with the Mob Mentality that goes into these 'witch hunts'.
He has many scenes, indeed actual books, that cover this. As OP states "You have actual witches furious at the treatment of non witches, and that treatment reflects what real world marginalisation of the outsiders and accused was like."
And i keep thinking how there seems, in this world, to always be an amount of hate that exists, and apparently needs to be directed at whatever "minority* group" the drums decide to direct the hate towards.
Like the concept of belief in The Hogfather, but on a more negative concept.
(*'minority' I say, even though Women in general are on the list that includes 'the hated'.
A list that also includes Jewish People, People of Colour, Gay People, Trans People, as well as many others).
I just (literally) saw The Amazing Digital Circus Film.
I won't share any Spoilers. I do want to talk about the experience itself, it was incredible.
The Theatre was almost full (a few seats free, but not many). More children than I was expecting (though maybe they were more teenagers).
And almost everyone was dressed up. It was truly wonderful.
I was dressed up, in a blue and red outfit, with fabulous makeup. But so many others were in actual costumes! So many different Circus characters, all seemed to be homemade/handcrafted, and to such high quality. And as we all stood in line waiting to show our tickets, there were compliments being heard everywhere about outfits.
It was the most enthusiastic film audience I have been part of. And I've been to my fair share of midnight premieres for huge fandoms before.
There was a theatre wide countdown to the Pre-Show Ads!
Actually there were two, as the first one started 12 seconds too early. But the second one got the timing bang on.
My biggest prediction (not a spoiler) for the showing came true. We all sang along to Caine's song.
It was really a remarkable experience to be part of
I personally think that the debate on Rock Paper Scissors is so confusing because people play it differently in different regions
I’m Singaporean, so we typically say “Scissors, Paper, Stone,” going right on “Stone”, meaning we go right on the three, and our chant is different from anyone who says “Rock Paper Scissors” I have yet to find a single SG person who starts out with Rock paper scissors.
from what I’ve seen from American friends, since, they typically go “Rock, Paper, Scissors, SHOOT” where they would go on “Shoot” —meaning they go AFTER three. (WOW we’re really shooting from the hip here—)
so given AJ grew up at France at one point I’m not surprised that he might have learnt a different version
but IDK just thought about it because I JUST played a game with my sister and I came to the sudden realisation the only time I’ve ever heard Rock Paper Scissors was with American friends and on Western TV
in Chinese I believe it’s “石头、剪刀、布!” (Shi tou, Jian Dao, Bu!) going on the last word, BU! Also doing it right on three, from what I’ve observed with my Singaporean Chinese friends (I find this interesting because the order this time is “rock, scissors, paper”)
And in Korean (I’m not an expert in the language) it’s like “Gawi Bawi Bo!” Going on “Bo”, also going on three, where I believe the order is “scissors, rock, paper”
so yeah just imagine these two poor guys who made up the game spreading it to other countries and it becoming so diluted that the order, the timing, and the way it’s played (with Korean having a little chant at the beginning that means something like “you’ll lose if you don’t put your hand out”) gets so mixed up they also themselves forget what they’re supposed to do when playing because they somehow know all forms of the game and now can’t reconcile on which is a better one
(my apologies for any inaccuracies, I’m only going on my broad knowledge with my studies in Chinese and my experience in SG)
Reblog with your country’s form of Scissors Paper Stone!
NZ.
When I was young it was always 'Paper Scissors Rock', and mostly on the count of 3.
EG: 1 "Paper" - 2 "Scissors" - 3 "Rock" and make your choice at the same time.
Although people were always willing to play on the 4th beat: '1-2-3' Go. If someone brought up that that that was their 'preference'
For some reason in the past 10 years or so, I've found more people using 'Rock - Paper - Scissors'
Oh good Ranger, pray tell, what is the difference between shoot and roll from the hip? Are their hips ok
Oh, Dear Anonymous Creature!! Welcome to my ranger cabin, I see you come bearing questions!!!! You must be weary from your travels, here..have some tea, if that is to your liking.
Ah, you ask an excellent set of questions! Shoot from the Hip are a wonderful, rowdy, cheerful and close knit band of Players and Bards who travel around the grey little island of the British Kingdom and perform many a good jest and improvisational play to the masses. There are four principal members of this Improvisational Player Group ,or SFTH as their many Pigeon Followers call them. These four Players are bound together by the bonds of fellowship, friendship, the welcoming arms of their art form, and of each other. Some would say that they are brothers not of blood but of choice. And we cannot neglect to remember their wives and partners and Sam's dear child too, who form part of their merry band!
There is the one they call the Gangle King Thomas Son of Mayo, kind and soft spoken it is said he is, wise and yet playful akin to a golden retriever with a streak of Mischief. He is skilled with the pen and creates monologues akin to those of the great Bard himself, except with no prior preparation. Indeed, he is most welcoming of all creeds and kinds of folk as they all are. He is, I am told, a shapeshifter too and can bend and contort his body into all manner of shapes.
Then there is Sam (Samuel) Son of the Russel-Holmes, he is strong beyond human reckoning, with the heart of the bravest of Hobbits and the courage of many a knight. Some say he is the gremlin of mischief and chaos and channels the energy too chaotic for us mere mortals to bare. His beard is the envy of them all.
Next we have Luke Son of Manning, he is, much to his own chargrin, known as the short one. However, amongst his fine companions, he is acclaimed to be the finest of the Players amongst them. And perhaps the most well read. He is known to be the most charming of the four, hair like sunshine, a bard of great renown and is kind and caring almost like a father to them.
And lastly, but not least, we have the brave, Sir Alexander Son of Jeremy. Standing near the height of Sir Thomas Mayo and built like a fortress that withstands battering from the sea, with artistic and directorial vision second to none. His appearance makes him seem looming and fearsome, but he is perhaps the most soft-spoken, thoughtful and pensive member of the group. When he is not loud and boisterous and, let it be said in kindness, confused upon the stage, he is there to catch his fellow friends when they need it.
Together they create plays and scenes and characters and narratives that only exist for a short time on stage and, yes, are recorded, but will never happen again. They are writers and players and directors and sound effects persons and characters of fair variety upon the stage. And they are most hilarious indeed to watch.
Now. Roll from the Hip is where they recruit the infamous, mysterious and yet hearty and kind of heart, but mean of narrative devices, the mage, the immortal, shapeshifting and ever smug Thomas Midgley. I am of the opinion, that he is released from his writing and game master room every so often at the request of his friends, Shoot from the Hip, to play the powerful game known as Dungeons and Dragons.
Together, Midgely, Mayo, Sam , Luke and Aj, along with a team of powerful camera persons and subtitlers go forth and create worlds of wild imagination where they go on various adventures such as, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Fireballs where you may run across the City of Donlon with a ragtag group of misfit criminals in search of justice, or The Plagueground where you're transported back to school except curses abound and there are four brave boys to assist on their journey, and other adventures which i have not yet watched such as Escape from the Vault and Wild Magical Warriors.
It is said that one must proceed with great caution when entering this arena of gaming, for it is easy to become fully enamored by Midgleys story -telling and the acting of all Five. It is worth every minute, but it may cost you your sanity. They are beautifully crafted adventures indeed.
As for whether their hips fair well and do not give them trouble. They are all in their mid-thirties so it truly is a question of the millenial body. However, I reckon that their hips do not lie and they can move and climb( mostly Sam) and jump into each other's arms and fight wildly on stage well enough.
I hope that my answers have enlightened you and have perhaps spurred you onto watching some of their Plays.
...Anonymous, I have no idea what came over me... sorry I blanked out for like...20 minutes there...
Shoot from the Hip/SFTH is a British improv comedy group and their channel on youtube is basically all their improvised plays and scenes and games.
And Roll from the Hip /RFTH is the name of their dungeons and dragons sister channel. With the addition of Tom Midgley as their game master!
I highly recommend giving them a watch on youtube if you like... unless you already have 🤔😶🌫️
Also, whether or not their hips are alright... god only knows 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thank you for your ask... I had fun answering ...can you tell🤣
"It is worth every minute, but it may cost you your sanity."
Thou spake well.
Maybe it is time I find courage to share one of my personal projects? Or, at least, share some very early sketches. Anyway, may I introduce you all to the possibility of an Art-book based on the novel “Dracula”? A story that I find more and more shares many similarities with Lord of the Rings… a Victorian equivalent that is 😁 And having set myself a very tasking goal of creating a whole book with backgrounds, set pieces, landscapes and characters, it makes sense to start first with some characters.
Mina, a etiquette teacher, is the in-universe “author” of the manuscript that we read, it is she who binds and connects all the separate storylines into a solid narrative, helping with it to stop the Count.
Jonathan, a young solicitor and Mina’ fiancé/husband, experiences a very-not-so-good business trip, finally escaping imprisonment and bringing much valuable information to England.
Lucy, Mina’s best friend, is a young woman ready to embrace life, a bundle of sunshine and joy- only to have her light extinguished by the Count.
Count Dracula, a noble man from ages past, has long waited and planed, now ready to expand his reign to countries far away, his eyes first set on England. But he has not anticipated the strength and courage of those who embrace the Light.
More hopefully to follow soon.
Fabulous artwork
I love that we can see the characters personalities. And the difference between Lucy, being full of innocence and joy compared to having her "light extinguished by the Count", is perfect.
saw Coyote vs ACME trailer, blacked out, drew this (truly living up to my blog name lol, old cartoon nostalgia indeed)
but honestly the main reason i got so excited about the movie is solely because i discovered a lovely Loonatics Unleashed fic Rejects by @techbilt
Fabulous Artwork
I am so looking forward to this film
PETE!!!

You are Not Nothing.
People need to let go of Jonathan being dumb and not understanding he's in a horror because it's simply untrue literally in his second entry he's worried he might not make it back alive
And also do you not think that if this book came back to Mina without Jonathan she would need every scrap of context and doubts he has, he's methodically going through the evidence trying to reach an answer he already doesn't have context for and is recording all this for Mina who should have no lived experience of this at all
We already know later on how long of a process Professor Helsing has to go through to convince Dr Seward why would it be any different here?
Thank-You!
we're all in agreement that the beast from disney's beauty and the beast (1991) was 11 years old when the spell was cast
it isn't just because of the years stipulated in the movie (the rose stops blooming at his 21st birthday and be our guest mentions 10 years of transformation), this is also supported by the fact that the servants call the beast "master", which is an honorific used for boys and young men
this also explains why mrs potts treats him very much like a mom despite him being a monarch
the thing is
if the age of the enchanted objects stopped moving forward at the time of the spell and only the beast was aging, it means the beast was, most likely, the same age as some of mrs potts's children at the time the spell was cast
this implies that the 7 kids (according to the movie, the number changes in other media) were stuck as kids for a decade, but also in maturity, not in a sort of "claudia from vampire chronicles type way", since chip behaves the same as a human as he did in his teacup form
they were frozen as kids for 10 years and came back to being human exactly as they were, while their master, who was around their age, is now a 21 year old man
which is wild to think about, because it means they've spent 10 years of their formative time in a loop that they could feel progress in real time but didn't reflect on their intellectual or physical growth
however, the alternative might be worse, though
if the age of the enchanted objects didn't stop during the spell, it'd mean all of mrs potts's kids had to be over the age of 10 by the end of the film and, looking at human chip (and her daughter in other media outside the movie), he would have been a baby when the spell was cast, at the very least, and spent the first decade of his life as a teacup, which idk what would mean developmentally
they would have spent 10 years of their lives learning how to exist as teacups to be thrown into a human body with 0 understanding of how that even works suddenly one day
the enchantress in beauty and the beast 1991 imo isn't as villainous as the fairy who enchanted the beast in villeneuve's tale, but is closer to that than to a fairy godmother or some selfless sorcerer, because even if, in this instance, she did it "as a test" and for him "to learn" how to treat people, she didn't hesitate to throw a spell onto several children, including the beast, who spent his entire adolescence in the body of a beast
it's understandable, I think, that a teenage boy suddenly in a beast's body, without any parents, would isolate himself and surrender to the idea of becoming a beast forever rather than go around looking for people to befriend, which made it much harder of him to fall in love and have someone fall for him to eventually break the spell
and the potts kids basically either were on stasis for 10 years as teacups or spent the early 10 years of their lives living as teacups and have no idea how a human body works
kinda wild when you think about it
Yes, Yes, Yes.
Although I have always imagined Chip's siblings as quite older than Chip, so it may only be Chip that has no memories of being human.
... Maybe that's why he still is being carried by Mrs Potts in the end scene. More than just the sweet family moment. Hmmm - you made me think!
And why Chip asked "Do I still have to sleep in a cupboard?"
I hate that people so often regard Jonathan as dumb or naive or that he didn’t “see any of the warning signs” because he did. When the people starting acting strangely on May 4th (aka today) he literally ended his journal entry with “if this book should reach Mina before I do” like mate, what do you think he means by that? Obviously he saw it, he felt uneasy, yet he chose to move on because what else was he to do? As far as he could tell, these where simply superstitions. Of course in hindsight you’d think differently of his actions.
Exactly!
So Pete and Cheeky from Roll From the Hip's 'Lock Stock and 2 Smoking Fireballs' appeared in my dream last night.
(There was also a cameo from Phineas and Ferb. Where the gag was, instead of Doof not recognising Perry without his hat, Phineas didn't recognise Perry WITH his hat. And called him a "feral platypus" -?)
Anyway Pete was living in a basically one-room apartment. Sort of what a basic hotel room would be. (I drew in PAINT what the outline looked like, see image below). although the double doors opened onto a garden yard area, but the door to the rest of the apartments opened up on the 3rd or 4th floor of of building.
The gay couple who lived next door to Pete asked him to look after their sick baby (about 1 year old) for an hour because there was an emergency that required both men to go and look after their older child/ren. They left clear instructions and medicine.
Scenes were cut together as the dream jumped around.
Later Pete was questioning why the couple would still want him living in the same place when he "almost killed their young" - flashback to prove that Pete DID NOT almost the baby, he was an excellent caregiver, even if he was unsure.
Cheeky Dustbins came over to hang out with Pete, and because he's good with children, would have been helpful. Unfortunately he was followed by enemies - other mobgoblins maybe?
Something happened to trash the apartment, and make Pete feel unneeded guilt. Don't know what happened, as that was when I woke up.
But being awake and thinking about it - I now want some talented artist to draw Porcelain Pete protecting a baby, and Cheeky protecting him. That is such a sweet (and slightly heartbreaking) idea.
Since Dracula Daily is going to start soon, let me share an idea to change "Dracula's Reincarnated Lover". Let's make everyone reincarnated in some way.
Spoilers for the novel

Textpost by "littlenamu.ig" regarding parenting. The post reads:
People raised by emotionally mature parents, what's 1 phrase your parents used that you want other parents to know?
This is followed by a reply from "mix.becca":
my husband has an incredible mother and he talks about how she never said they were bad kids, only that they were *behaving* badly. She'd say things like "You're SUCH a kind boy. Why would you say that mean thing to your sister? You're not a mean person. What's going on?" He talks about how he'd be like wait....I AM a kind boy. Why am I being mean? Versus being told *he* was bad/mean/thoughtless etc. It's a small shift in wording but she raised some very kind & confident kids!
End ID.]
I was lucky to have good parents.
They respected my sister and I as individuals, understood we had our own interests and personalities.
And though they - especially my Mum, didn't always understand me, and sometimes when I was a teenager we clashed and fought - I always felt respected, and loved by them. They believed us about things we said about ourselves, and accepted our choices, even if our choices made no sense to them.
One way that they showed this respect; was to always explain "Why".
If they said 'No' to any requests made by us, they always gave a reason. An actual reason, not "because I said so", but genuine explanations. And that meant we understood why we were told 'no', so we never needed to rebel against them.
So that is my Answer to the original question, not a phrase my parents actually 'said'. But advice that still holds true:
Children will respect parents that respect their children. And one way to show your children you respect them; is to explain reasons why things are done, or not done.
Gooseworx gave the checkmate shippers a hug before promptly shoving us down a flight of stairs. Good for her.
So many “they’re married why are you shipping them?” Comments. Idk maybe I ship them because they’re married?? Because they’re a cute couple? Because I like how they’re written?? People ship already canon pairings all the time is this your first fandom or something??
Have you SEEN how tied into Queenie Kinger’s story is?
Is there some fandom rule book I’ve never heard of that says I’m not allowed to like ships that are canon? All of y’all are being so fucking patronizing too, back the fuck up with that shit dude. You’re not gonna talk to me like I’m a fucking baby.
What on earth is with people thinking shipping is Only for Non-Canon couples?!
Shipping is about liking characters being together.
Canon or Not. Personally I tend to prefer canon couples, which is just how my brain works.
OP is very impressive for surviving this nonsense.
