assigning Scully to the X-files was the funniest thing the US government ever did because imagine you send this logical, rule-following scientist to spy on the Basement Weirdo but instead they fall in love and soul-bond so intensely that it’s actually a legitimate threat to national security. all the super-important super-evil government conspiracies are at risk because you (the US government) accidentally pulled the best matchmaking job in history and now they’re so in love and oh shit they’re breaking into another top-secret facility, they’re discovering evidence of another war crime, they’re gazing longingly into each other’s eyes next to a crashed ufo and it’s all your fucking fault

Stepping into the boys shared apartment and being met with cheers and streamers was not how you were expecting your birthday date to end, but here you were. Woojin had taken you out to your favorite restaurant and during dessert, he had slid a jewelry box towards you and you gasped when you opened it, a delicate gold bracelet with diamond studded stars laying on the soft interior.
“Becuase I know I can look to you and know the way home” Woojin had said smiling, helping you put the bracelet on.
You were so enamoured with the bracelet that you hadn’t noticed that the smile didn’t quite meet his eyes. That’s not to say that you hadn’t noticed he was acting slightly off, but you had just figured it was because he had wanted your birthday to go well. And seeing as how he had managed to keep the surprise party a surprise from you, you figured that he would begin to feel better, since he didn’t have to keep it a secret anymore.
You looked at Woojin and laughed, wrapping him in a hug and kissing him quickly, “Babe! How did you even get all this together? I had no clue!”
Woojin shrugged, “I guess I’m just good at keeping secrets.”
Woojin’s eyes shifted away from your face as he said this, scanning the room before letting them rest on a group of your friends, “Go say ‘hi’, they’re itching to talk to you.”
You nodded and gave Woojin one more quick peck before heading off to the group of men waiting for you.
“Y/N! Happy birthday! Were you surprised?” Han said, bouncing on his toes before launching himself at you, wrapping you in a hug.
“Hannie! Thank you so much! Of course I was surprised! Woojin did such a good job keeping this from me. I had no clue.” You gushed, not noticing the looks that the rest of the guys gave each other
“Woojin, wha-” Han began before he felt a heel come crashing down on his toes and he whipped his head around to glare at the offender.
Chan and Minho were looking at Han with wide eyes, while Seungmin was trying to be subtle as he gave a quick shake of his head. They all knew that Woojin had nothing to do with tonight, aside from keeping you away from the apartment, which he did somewhat hesitantly.
Sure, they had thought it was weird that he didn’t seem to want to help with your party, they could have sworn that everything was going well in your relationship, at least according to you, but Hyunjin had noticed how he had seemed to pull away from you slightly the last time you had both come over. He had, of course, brought it up to Chan and the others, but Chan had told him that it wasn’t any of their business and to let it go.
Of course, that was easier said than done as Felix watched Woojin slink off into the crowd the moment you had headed toward them. He had been able to keep his eye on Woojin as he made his way to his group of friends, immediately joining in on their conversation. Felix couldn't help but narrow his eyes slightly as he watched one of the girls in the circle brush her arm along Woojin’s arm, smiling up at him and leaning up to whisper something in his ear to which Woojin smiled back and nodded.
Before Felix could witness any more, you had called his name, causing him to focus back on you as you pulled him into your arms, thanking him for helping with the party.
Felix wrapped his arms around you and pulled you close, “Of course Princess, anything to celebrate your special day!”
You laughed at his nickname for you, “Anything? Do you mean it?”
Felix nodded, laughing at the spark in your eye, “Anything at all, just name it!”
“Then I want music and dancing! Pretty please?” You gave your best puppy dog eyes.
Felix just laughed and made his way to the stereo before plugging his phone in. He fiddled with it for a moment before turning on a playlist he and Han had put together just for tonight.
You jumped up and down for a moment before clearing a space and pulling the boys with you to start the dancing.
You had been dancing for a while before you made your way to the kitchen to pour yourself a drink. Smiling at Changbin and Innie who were leaning against the island, you reached into the fridge to get out some lemonade before pouring yourself a glass and adding a shot or two of blackberry whiskey (who’s counting at this point, it’s your birthday!)
“Having fun Y/N?” Changbin asked, wrapping his arm around your shoulder.
You nodded your head, “So much! It’s been a blast dancing with everyone.”
You looked around the room, your smile faltering a bit as you noticed the one person that you had been wanting to see wasn’t around at all.
I.N. noticed the look on your face, wrapping his arm around you opposite Changbin, “What’s going on in that head of yours pretty girl?”
“Nothing, it’s silly.” You said shrugging.
Both the men turned on you, blocking your view of the party.
“Well, that didn’t sound convincing at all, Bunny.” Changbin said, looking over your face.
“It’s just,” you start hesitantly, “I haven’t seen Woo since we got here. He told me to go say hi to you guys and then we started dancing, but I kept looking for him, and I haven’t seen him at all.”
You hadn’t noticed that you had started to tear up until Innie put his hand on your cheek, using his thumb to wipe away a tear that had escaped, “Hey, it’s ok Y/N. Just hang out here for a little, try and relax, and I’m sure he’ll be back in no time. He probably just stepped out for some air.”
You nodded, “Yeah, I’m sure you’re right. You guys go and enjoy the party, I’m going to step outside, get some air. I think that’ll help me clear my head a bit.”
Before you turned to go outside, Bin and Innie wrapped you in a group hug, their eyes meeting over your head, sharing a look of concern.
Stepping outside, you took in a deep breath, trying to steady yourself. You knew it was silly to worry, Woojin was just getting some air. But if that was true, why wasn’t he outside like you were?
You looked over the balcony, out at the city beyond you. You saw a couple walking up the sidewalk, the shorter of the two leaning on the taller’s shoulder, with their arm wrapped around them to keep them close. A voice floated up to you and you looked around confused. You could have sworn that you had heard Woojin, but the only people around were you and the couple walking into the building.
You shook your head, you must really have been missing him to imagine hearing his voice floating through the breeze while he wasn’t there.
Letting yourself enjoy the night, you heard some voices through the cracked open door.
“Can’t believe him…”
“And with so many people around…”
“She’s going to be heartbroken…”
You frowned, immediately feeling bad for whoever they were talking about. It was too bad there was drama happening at your birthday, you only wanted this to be a good night for everyone.
Your attention was grabbed again as the front door opened. Through the crowd you saw Woojin walking in and you started to open the door to head to him.
Before you could make it too far though a figure followed him into the apartment, his hand clasped tightly in hers, fingers intertwined.
You froze, your eyes on their hands before looking up and meeting Woojin’s eyes. He stared back at you, eyebrows pinching together, not in guilt though, in something else entirely. He looked at you almost as though it was inevitable, like he had always planned on this happening.
Suddenly it felt like all the air had been sucked out of your chest and no matter how hard you tried, you couldn’t get any air to fill your lungs.
Finally breaking eye contact, you turned and tried to make your way to the bathroom, fighting against the bodies that felt like they were trying to keep you in the room.
You didn’t realize that you were walking into a person until you hit something solid and felt arms wrap around you, not restraining, but holding you up, ushering you out of the crowded room so quickly that you almost didn’t see a group of men close in on Woojin before you finally made it around the corner to the bathroom.
Luckily the music was loud enough that you could barely hear the yelling in the living room, instead choosing to focus on the man who had made you sit on the closed toilet lid.
“Hey, y/n, look at me Bunny.” Two fingers came up under your chin and you let them lift your head until you met Changbin’s eyes, his brows furrowed as he took in the unshed tears you were trying to hold back.
You tried to focus your eyes on the man in front of you, but your mind was spinning, so many thoughts going through your brain as you tried to gulp air into your lungs. You felt the fingers under your chin, you heard his voice even if you couldn't connect them to the words he was saying, but you just couldn’t stop.
There was a knock on the bathroom door and you heard soft murmuring and suddenly the warm fingers under your chin fell away and a different hand softly grabbed your hand and a soft voice told you to take a breath and led you through grounding exercises.
Finally your eyes came back into focus and you looked into the soft brown eyes of Han, “Hannie?” you said, voice cracking and tears finally falling.
Han gave you a soft smile, “Hey Peaches, you back with me?”
You nodded stiffly, “Yeah, I-I think so. My chest hurts.”
Han nodded, watching you press a hand to the middle of your chest, “That happens when you don’t breathe right, but I got you back to somewhat normal.”
You leaned forward and wrapped your arms around the man in front of you, pressing your head into his shoulder as your body shook with sobs.
Another knock came at the door and you lifted your head and invited whoever it was in.
The door opened slowly this time, and Chan and Changbin poked their heads in.
Changbin immediately smiled, noticing that you were much better than you had been when he had left you to “talk” to your, now, ex boyfriend.
Chan looked concerned at you, but gave you a small smile.
“Hey there Pretty, I’m not going to ask how you are, but I am going to say that Woo was a dick and he very much got what he deserved.” Chan explained, taking Han’s place and pulling you into his arms.
You hugged him back as Bin finally came into the bathroom, closing the door as Han left.
“He won’t be showing his face anywhere near you ever again.” Bin said, coming up and rubbing your back.
You sniffled and looked between the two men, “What he deserved? Wha-what happened? Binnie, you got me in here, then you left. What did you guys do?”
You finally pulled away enough to look over the two, your hands skimming over their skin, assessing, until you found their hands. Knuckles slightly red and bruised, with some swelling and a couple of splits that had stopped bleeding.
You gasped as you quickly got up to get your first aid kit, only to have a hand grab your wrist lightly and pulled you back into an embrace.
“Shhhhh, it’s ok Bunny, we honestly didn't do anything near what he deserved, but he got the message.” Binnie held your head against his chest as he smoothed your hair, trying to keep you calm.
“Did you really think we would let him pull that shit and get away with it?” Chan said, running a soothing hand down your back.
“I-I mean, I don’t want you guys to get in trouble- What if he goes to Dispatch? What if he presses charges? What if-?”
You were interrupted by a low chuckle, “I promise you, he won’t be doing any of those things. We can be very persuasive.”
You whipped your head around to look at Chan, raising an eyebrow. You pulled away from Changbin enough to look at both of them.
Changbin could sense your worry and worked to reassure you, “The others started yelling at him while I was in here with you, and when Han came to help you, I went out there, only to yell at him, I swear! But then he said something and I just saw red and the next thing I knew, Chan and I were throwing punches.”
Chan nodded along, “I really wasn’t going to fight him, but, like Bin said, I just saw red. The others were able to get us off and we came here to check on you again.”
You nodded along with their explanations. “I just- I didn’t expect this at all. I mean, who could ever expect this?”
You throw your hands up in defeat, and your eyes catch the flash of gold on your wrist and tears spring to your eyes again.
The men in the room notice and immediately ask what is wrong. You explain the gift and what he had said, how you had melted and now, how were you ever supposed to look at this bracelet again?
The men in front of you rolled their eyes and tried to fight down the anger rising in them again. Bin slowly worked to remove the bracelet from your wrist, putting it on the bathroom counter.
“Ugh, I guess I’ll add it to the rest of his shit that needs to be given back. Maybe he can give it to her instead.” You groan.
Chan nods, “We can do whatever you want with it. And don’t worry about boxing up his stuff, we can do it for you. I’ll get the others to help too. You won’t have to see any of his things ever again.”
You smile slightly at him and then at Changbin, a soft quiet falling between the three of you. It was only then that you noticed the lack of noise coming from the rest of the apartment.
Slipping between the two, you slowly made your way to the living room, only to find most of the party goers gone, with only Lee Know, Hyunjin, Han, Felix, Seungmin, and IN remaining, each one doing their part to clean up the apartment.
Seungmin was the first to notice you enter the room, crossing the space in three long strides, and pulling you into his arms, “I’m so sorry Pup.”
At this movement, the rest of the men dropped what they were doing and pulled you into the best group hug you’ve gotten. Even Chan and Changbin joined, their presence on the outside of the hug holding everyone closer to you. Every one of the men whispered comforting words to you, promising you better days ahead.
You felt your eyes watering again, the tears falling onto someone’s shoulder, no one complained, they just held you and let you feel your emotions.
Eventually, Seungmin pulled away slightly and gave you a peck on the forehead before groaning, “Alright, I’ve hit my daily limit of affection. Everyone get off me.”
You sniffled and released your hands from his shirt, the others slowly peel off one by one, picking up where they had left off cleaning.
You began to move around the apartment, trying to help where you could, only to be shoo’d away each time.
Finally, once the cleaning was done and you had managed to steal borrow comfortable clothes, you found yourself pulled onto the couch, laying so your head was in Chan’s lap and your legs were pulled onto Bin’s lap. Lee Know approaches and hands you a mug of hot tea while the others join and the fight over which movie to watch begins.
You reach for a blanket, Changbin helping you cover yourself and him in the process.
Once the movie is picked and your tea has been drank, you find yourself unable to focus on the movie, the warmth of the two men around you and the comfort of the others surrounding you, you find yourself unable to keep your eyes open. Between Chan’s fingers running through your hair and Bin’s warm hands rubbing your legs, you fall asleep.
You’re not sure what will happen after this, but in the present moment, this is all you need.

Notes: Alright, so this is an idea I started in July of 2025, but I never forgot about it! I really want to make another/more parts to this, but I'm not sure if I want this to turn into a poly!skz x reader fic or a single love interest x reader.
Also, there's a poll at the end if anyone wants to participate!

I have ideas on more parts, but I can't decide if I want to make this a poly!skz, ChanBin, or single love interest. Help me decide?
