How would Nick, Piper, Hancock, Deacon, Cait and Preston react if Strong was starting to remember that he used to have a family involving a wife and a child back when he was human?

【Nick】 "We could try to find them."

As the man known for finding things and people of course is going to try to find them. But knowing how supermutants are made he knows he's just looking for remains. Still he led with compassion and did his best to get Strong closer to the truth. He deserved that much.

【Piper】 "What'd they look like? How old was the kid?"

Maybe it's a little overwhelming but she asks questions in hopes that it'll trigger more memories. To her credit it does work. It just leads to a more tragic answer.

【Hancock】 "Didn't peg you for a romantic, big guy."

There was nothing he could do but laugh. Hancock liked to believe he was an optimistic guy but even he could see the writing on the wall. So he pretends he doesn't come to that conclusion.

【Deacon】 "Was her name Macbeth?"

He only half believes the memories are real and the other half is breaking his heart so he jokes to ease his discomfort. No one really bats an eye at this behavior and Strong himself doesn't understand the joke and actually thinks about it. The answer is 'no' but what his wife's name was is still out of his reach.

【Cait】 "Fuckin' hell."

She doesn't know how to do these feeling things. She doesn't even consider whether or not they're dead because in her mind they aren't there and finding them would be impossible. She does try to offer some sort of condolences but it's awkward and forced

【Nate】 "Oh... I get how that feels."

He really does. Good ol' 'I lost my family because of evil people and a machine' is quite popular in the Wasteland as it turns out. If it turns out Strong's kid was a son Nate will quietly lose his mind after excusing himself.

I’m slowly getting dragged back into my writing phase.

We know about Gem!Reader and how Chase borrows Mandy’s power gem to essentially negate his drawback and gain her own abilities the crystal offers.

Now what if Gem!Reader has the idea that a malformed Gem could possibly be a substitute for Mandy’s crystal? Like the Gem didn’t form properly to be capable of becoming sentient and forming a physical body but did form enough to posses the abilities/powers associated with it (ie, ice control via a sapphire, water manipulation via a lazuli etc etc)

I was mulling over which gem could work best, initially I thought a lapis due to their flight but then thought it would cross over with Waterboy a lot THEN I thought maybe aquamarine but came across the same cross over.

Then I thought of rose quartz cause we’ve seen Rose and Steven have a level of gravitational manipulation in their ability to jump extremely high and slow their decent but then realised that’s a trait of Pink Diamond rather than a quartz

So what if a diamond was being formed but the process went wrong and it couldn’t be completed? So when Gem!Reader is on a holocall with an old friend from Homeworld they mention the diamonds wanting to get rid of the malformed gem because it’s to upsetting to keep it around-that’s when Gem!Reader offers to take it

Have it sent down to earth and she’ll take it off their hands-completely out of sight out of mind

How we fucking with this? Cooking? should never be let near the stove again?

We all love girl dads. Something about a guy being all sweet and soft for his precious little girl just tugs at your heart like no other.

But I’d like to raise boy dad Robert Robertson the third.

Not because he wouldn’t love to have a little girl but because with his boy he feels like he’s breaking a cycle.

His little boy who says “my daddy!” When asked who his hero is. Not in the ‘my daddy because he’s Mecha Man’ way but in the ‘My daddy Robert’ way.

But Robert who sits with him at the dining table with his homework, Robert who helps patch up his knees when he falls, Robert who never once tells him to not cry and Robert who scoops his little man up into his arms when he gets home from work because that shine in his big eyes is impossible to ever say no to (he can completely understand how he guilted Chase when he was a kid now)

Robert Robertson who’s proving to himself that Mecha Man couldn’t stop him from prioritising his boy. That his own dad was the problem not him just being a kid who wanted his dad

Robert Robertson who doesn’t name his kid the fourth Robert but a name all his own. No legacy or expectation, a fresh slate like his boy deserves.

Robert Robertson who loves his son with all the cracked broken parts of his heart he didn’t think could be held together anymore.

Robert Robertson sees all the features he didn’t think twice about on himself but sees them on his son and sees how perfect they make him. Who sees all the parts he loves of his partner on him and loves them even more

Robert who breaks the cycle for his boy.

But now I'm obsessed with this headcanon and it's all this person's fault.

Having Robert have to face how his father affected him growing up instead of just saying "obviously I loved my dad" specifically because of how he treats his son would probably heal his soul in a way therapy never could.

Imagine how good it would feel when he looks at his son and sees a kid who won't grow up like he did. Or if his son got hurt he never thought about telling him to get up when he's still bleeding (The ear thing).

Even when his spouse or friends tell him they'll cover for him the entirety of California or a small country needs to be on fire if it interrupts a time he said he'd spend with his son. Otherwise he trusts other heroes to deal with it.

Never ever tells his son he needs to be Mecha Man. He'll tell him he can be anything and anyone when he grows up. There is a fear of dying in the suit still in the back of his mind but he also understands that need to save people.

... Robert Robertson the fourth.

He uses his words very specifically. It's not an ask of 'if', it's a tell of 'it will'. "A baby running around with Duncan, a third on the way. We don't need anything else."

What if Kent had a crush on Cait and Piper?

Assuming it's both of them at the same time and they return his feelings he gets scary dog privileges.

Him talking about old shows with Piper is nice. She indulges him and asks questions, questions he's more than happy and ready to answer. Cait will also let him talk and ask questions but that's because she has no idea on what the fuck he's talking about and she wants to know so they can't talk circles around her.

Piper has to run around for the paper and her sister but Cait spends a lot more time with him unless SoSu asks her to come along which she refuses if they do it too much. In that time she relaxes with her adorable cinnamon roll of a boyfriend.

Cait also acts as a bodyguard. Piper can't always be there and after the whole 'Silver Shroud' thing he gets really scared sometimes. When that happens she gets a gun and tells him he's fine with her. Not the best way to go about it but it does make him feel safer, even if it doesn't calm him down all too much. When Piper gets back she'll tell Cait to put the gun away and hug him, dragging Cait in too.

Piper is the breadwinner. She has a job that the entirety of Diamond City gets information from and some of the other parts of the Commonwealth. Cait is a bodyguard sometimes and Kent is running an old school radio that is listened to by nostalgic ghouls and kids.

Nat thinks he's adorable and he gets her into comics. She'll drag all of them into thing ranging from sleepovers to breaking into some random headquarters to find some conspiracy.

They are going to bring more trouble than he ever has and ever will. On one hand he likes how brave they are and how they seem to be impossible. On the other hand he likes things safe so every now and then he'll convince them to stay in for the night.

All in all they have a pretty sweet dynamic. They run around doing their business and leave it at the door when they get together.

He fights long and hard to get SoSu to go back on the decision. He believes now that Nate/Nora is gone he should help them raise the boy. That was the plan the whole time. Why didn't they want to raise him with him? If SoSu takes him back he's happier than a clam and will do everything in his power to make the matter never mentioned again. If SoSu doesn't take him back Codsworth will drag Shaun out forcefully and make them raise him properly. There aren't many things Codsworth will put his foot down on but this is one of them.

【Danse】 "Good choice." ➢ "Do we have to? I mean, we have Curie so even if you don't want to take care of him someone will."

Pre-BB he doesn't care in the slightest. Hell, if the kid fought in any way, shape, or form, he would shoot him without hesitation. Post-BB he's desperate to take him home. He's a synth like him. It doesn't matter he's not flesh and blood, right? Because if that's the problem then he's a problem. Danse will spiral and fight tooth and nail to bring Shaun for his own reassurance.

【Deacon】 "You know he'll die down here, right? Damn, cold-hearted."

Because the Railroad is all about helping synths he was actually really surprised when they said they wanted to leave him. He's not exactly going to stop them, it's SoSu's decision, but he will talk about it. Despite his running mouth no one other than him will know what SoSu did.

【Hancock】 "Them's the breaks, kid. Sorry bout that."

He isn't concerned in the slightest. If SoSu doesn't want him then there's no reason he should. That's not his kid so he doesn't feel bad about smiling at him while they leave. No strings means no worry, right?

【MacCready】 "Sorry, kid."

He really wanted to get Shaun back. For completely selfish reasons, of course. He really really wants to have kids with SoSu. Sure, they have Duncan but what if he had a little brother? And Shaun looked just like SoSu. It would have been so cute. So he sighed as he shot Shaun in the kid. Guess he'll just have to make another one with SoSu.

【Nick】 "You sure about this? I think I'll fight you on this one."

He has a soft spot for kids and if he was honest he was hoping to take Shaun. He knows he can never have kids with them. Sure, there's adoption and surrogates but there was a kid just waiting for them and they just... Dammit. He will try every argument to change their mind that doesn't result in yelling.

【Preston】 "Just think about it. Coming home to us. Wouldn't that be nice?"

He doesn't have time to raise a child but now a pre-built one drops out of the sky that looks like SoSu and already believes he's their son. A more perfect opportunity couldn't have happened. His tone is sweet and even as he coaxes them into taking Shaun. Such an innocent sounding hope that was more selfish than anything he intended.

【X6】 "..."

He says nothing. Does nothing. He's not going to do anything without SoSu go ahead. The idea he's also a synth crosses his mind but it doesn't go further than concern for his own place at their side.

It does depend on how they met. For the sake of these headcanons they met when they joined the team.

He wasn't nice to them on their first day but he's not nice to anyone on the team a third of the time. He'll call them useless and annoying and find something to pick at for a while.

More specifically he's annoyed with their power and that's why he calls them useless. With Waterboy he knows he can't touch him and that if they use their powers together it makes steam. But with them the ice just makes everything cold and eventually makes water. The team already has Waterboy so he doesn't like that they don't compliment each other. And if they're Frozone level powerful he's get annoyed on how they can stop disasters in their tracks while he can only make them. Annoying.

But when they get to the 'talking' stage he turns up the flirting to eleven. At first it's a lot of bragging about how awesome he is, like a peacock. When it's official he'll go on about how lucky they are to be dating him. He's literally perfect. They should feel special. Last stage would be how he thinks they're in it for the long run so he waxes on about how they're the ultimate power-couple and everyone should be jealous and/of fear the two of you.

Can cook but because it was for his little sister when they were younger and now his niece most of what he can cook is mainly for kids so nine out of ten times he'll cook something that is very inoffensive and possibly sweet. This fact however never really registered in his head though and if it's pointed out he'll get defensive and tell them to just eat the damn food.

Speaking of them, if either his sister or his niece say they have fucked vibes he will leave his partner no matter how much he likes them. They stuck by him all his life so he sticks by them. He could genuinely love his partner and be talking about the future together but he would walk away from it regardless.

If anyone disrespects them aside from the playful back and forth on the team (and even sometimes them too) they do not leave without punishment. He can't kill people on account of his job but he will hurt them and everyone will know why. Either burning their hair or hitting them with their car, threatening them might even do the job if they get scared enough.

That extends to him. He will never really belittle them and he will most certainly never raise a hand at them. Not more than a playful swat, especially on the ass.

They will never look better than him. He prides himself on his appearance but in a relationship he turns it up and he'll never leave the house looking less than his best. They might get close but they will never look better.

Overall a very selfish lover but not in a way that will ever hurt.
