When I saw them coming I got really scared for my brother. Something was telling me this was no good. I saw four cyclopes carrying her. But something caught my eye. There was a girl! Just right behind Jadis.Â
âThatâs the girl I told you aboutâ Edmund said.Â
âI canât believe sheâs with herâ Susan wishpered to me.Â
âAnd aliveâ I told them without taking my eyes off of her. She looked at me and Iâd swear I saw a look of sorrow in her eyes.Â
âI heard the dwarfs talking about her. It happens Jadis took pity when she found her years ago and tried to raise her as her own daughterâ
âThen sheâs as bad as Jadisâ
âActually, Susan, she was the only gentle one there. When Orius and the rest came to save me, she didnât put up a fightâ
Everything happened so fast. I tried to protect my brother but she was right: I was just some boy pretending to be someone I wasnât ready to be. In spite of that, I wasnât going to let her took my brother, not again. Not without fighting. But then, Aslan proposed her to go inside his tent to discuss the fate of my brother. I was trully pissed of I wasnât going to be part of that. A few minutes passed and Edmund got up and led his way to the girl, who was standing next to the minotaur. They both looked at him and the beast growled. Edmund stood there as I was amazed by his bravery. Some of our centaurs came closer but they didnât take the swords out. The girl shook her head discreetly and he came back. At that time, Aslan and Jadis came out and told us that Edmund was free to go. I hugged him tightly and cheered for the big news, but I couldnât help and looked at the girl. Jadis was telling her something in her ear right before leaving. The girl tried to called her but Jadis ignored her. She looked at Aslan and then to Edmund. She knew something. Our eyes met for a moment but the minotaur took her arm and led her out.Â
As I saw Aslan coming to the Stone Table, I knew that everything had changed. He was willing to sacrifice himself for a boy he barely knew. Just because he was supposed to be one of the kings of Narnia. Like if a switch turned on in my head, I realized that I was doing everything wrong. I looked at Jadis, who was waiting for Aslan to come closer. She would never do that. Not for anyone. Not even for me. Aslan was different. He stood by what was right and what he believes in.Â
âJadis, listen, I need to tell you somethingâ
âYou shut up! This is MY moment.â
I grabbed her arm. âI know but you must know that-â with one quickly movement she cut part of my cheek with the knive she was holding.Â
âGet awayâ she hissed me. I let her go and ran away. I was frustrated. I didnât want this. My believes were screaming to me. I could pretend anymore.Â
As I was walking away, I heard Jadis scream and I stopped. Aslan was gone. Without turning back to see his death body, I tried not to scream. Aslan was what I was looking for in a leader. Bravery, wisdom, courage, kidness and justice. I started walking when I saw two girls hugging behind the trees. They were Edmundâs sisters. The older one put the youngest behind her.Â
âCalm down, Iâm not going to hurt youâ I said.Â
âYouâve already done thatâ I looked down as she continue âYou know he dies for our brother. He didnât deserve that. He was-â
âInnocentâ I said and looked at them. I few tears dropped.Â
âAre you crying?â the youngest asked, coming out behind her sister. I dinât know what to say to them. All I could feel was a mix of feelings: realising you are in the wrong path, your true self fighting to show up from the deepest of your heart.Â
âDo you believe in changes of heart?â I asked. The sisters looked at each other. Lucy came closer to me and grabbed my hand.Â
âWe know what you did to our brother. My name is Lucy and sheâs Susanâ
When the trees told us about Aslanâs death I felt overwhelmed. Now everybody was expecting the leader I was supposed to be. The truth was, I wasnât ready.Â
I was with Orius and Edmund trying to came up with a plan. Actually, I was lost. All the pressure suddenly made me feel weak but I couldnât dissapoint them. Not now that they trully need me.Â
âAny ideas?â Edmund said.Â
âI have oneâ a girl voice said behind me. I turned around and we all took our weapons out. Pointing at her, I could admire her better. She had a long ponytail, a sword in her right hand and, unlike my sisters, she wasnât wearing a dress.
âWhat are you doing here?â Edmund asked putting his sword down. Orius and I still pointing at her.Â
She kneeled and put her sword on the floor.Â
âIâm here to help you defeat Jadis. I must make it up for himâ
âI donât need you to make anything up for meâ I said still confused.
âIâm sorry, but I wasnât talking about youâ she said at me, which hurt me a little. I stared at her and I realised she was, indeed, really beautiful.Â
âWe shouldnât trust in you... you were with her and now you want to defeat the woman who gave you power?â Orius said.Â
She got up, leaving her sword on the flor and with her hands up.Â
âI wouldnât trust me if I were in your position but your sisters believe in meâ she said looking at my brother and me. âI donât want power if it comes with nothing to stand up for. I saw what Aslan did... thatâs the power I trully believe inâ.Â
After accepting her, we started to prepare us for the battle.I asked Edmund to stand with the archers. In the meantime, I got to know (Y/N) a litte bit and she amazed me. I asked her to help hippogryphs so she wouldnât be in first line when all this started. As I saw Jadisâ army coming to us, just as (Y/N) told us, I got nervous and a little scared. I looked at Orius for support when I heard a horse right next to me. I looked at the mysterious rider. It was (Y/N). She was looking at Jadis with serious eyes.Â
âWhat are you doing here? I told you to stay behindâ
I got nervous and tensed up. It was strange but something was telling me she deserved to be protected. In fact, she treated my brother nicely when he was captured and that was something I woul always be gratefull for.
âReally? And leave you here with all the fun?â she said smiling âNo, my king, never in your wildest dreamsâ
Our eyes met and I could help but smile. I prayed for someone to calm me down and give me the strength I needed, and it turned out it was her.Â
âDid you just call me âkingâ?â I said smiking.Â
Jadis screamed and her army moved. I looked at them and took my sword out. I took a deep breath and I did the signal.Â
âJust, donât die in battle!â she shouted at me, joining our army.Â
âHope you neitherâ I wishpered as I join Orius in battle.Â
