I just noticed that Joe has the numbers for a dead man's hand (2 aces, 2 eights; all from the black suits) tattooed on the knuckles of one hand, and what I can only assume is a royal flush (suit of clubs; I can see the A, K, Q, and J, but the 10 is missing - I assume that's on the thumb, which is obscured in the image) on the other.

Do these poker hands have any special significance to him? I'd also be curious to know if the suit of clubs in particular has any significance, since it's half of a dead man's hand (the other A and 8 being from the suit of spades, traditionally), and his royal flush tattoos are all clubs as well.

As for why clubs? When your first lucky charm has been an...semi consensual branding on the back of your hand, looking at it all day changes the way you view it.
